I bought these last season and they worked really well. Kept them in the sled and they were put through all sorts of abuse. They have held great and the lures stay put. I got them off of Amazon fairly cheap if I remember. They also have a small version to put in your thigh pocket. They are called Kingfusher fly boxes.

Those both look like they’d work well, but I’d like something a little more compact that you can hole hop with 2 hands; rod and flasher. Maybe I’m asking too much for a 7″ unit as it really isn’t compact anyway.

I have watched some Garmin promoted videos with, I believe, Garmin Reps using a 7″ unit attached to a Vexilar Genz pack. Not the best promoting there, but gave me an idea……

so the soft pack and the mount they sell for the 5 will work for the 7. You have to drill your own hole because they wont line up but it works just fine i have had nothing but good things to say about my unit. And the fact that it works in shallow water as well as deep,I love. Danny Thompson is a great resource and super helpful, gis is very busy and it does take him a while to respond but he has always gotten back to me. He even helped me out with adjusting the settings for ice fishing.

I have never put it to a complete test. I easily get a full day out of my batteries. When I get home after fishing all day (dawn till midnight) the battery still has 50 to 60 % left.

I bought a 73cv last year and converted it to an ice fishing unit. The thing works great, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I would say give these a try, if they dont work for the tip downs you can use them in your house. I would just set it next to the hole.

Dtro yes that is the ice paxk that garmin sells for the stryker 7. You have to modify the mounting holes a little bit but it works just fine. I have had zero problems with it and wish i would have made the switch sooner. Here is a pick using it right beside my lx3 with no interference issues.

I have a garmin echomap 73 that i use for icefishing because of its mapping and sonar capabilities. I absolutely love it,and would not trade it for anything. If you are interested n getting one i can give you a list of part numbers so you can set it up for your atv and have it as an ice unit

Yes Ice fishing is all I do, do to my job restraints. The unit has a lot of features are you looking for anything particular or jist in general? I can tell you it is fairly simple to operate, I get no interference around other units, if I do get any I just change frequency and that fixes it. I have heard complaints from people using it down south that the mapping doesn’t offer their particular lake but all the lakes i fish up here in ND it has. I have been out on very sunny days and even with sunglasses have no problem reading the screen. It comes with a quick bail mount and i bought an extra so I can just pop it off my atv, and pop it into my ice case no need to disconnect wires. Of ya have any other questions feel free to message me. Or my # is Six 05 77 zero 5760
