Reporting a walleye out of Mille Lacs is way different then reporting and Asian carp, snakehead etc. Wyoming doesn’t have the resources and they get along just fine. Your thinking the State would get hundreds of thousands of calls a week.
    I’m thinking a handful.
Now assuming we are not talking about the invasive fish that we know are already here and only reported new locations of them if they spread I think would work just fine.

That brings up a good point. When I was out in Wyoming their regulations were pretty hardcore. If you caught a Walleye or a Northern in some bodies of water you were to kill the fish immediately and report it to the local game and fish. Why can’t this be true here as well? Asian Carp etc.

This thread is starting to turn weird. I Think there should be protected lakes and size limits. I get it the DNR does not have much funding however I’m not a scientist there are lakes with stunted growth and small fish. It does make for a hell of a fishing regulation hand book. All I can say is this. I grew up in Minnesota and used to go to my grandparents in northern Wisconsin. Me and my grandpa would catch tons of big bulls withs damn near horns on their heads and take a few for eating. Now there are barely any fish left do to regulations and over fishing. We used to catch them on fly rods. What a fight and I’m only 32 years old. Thats the memories we want to build for future generation. I get it there is a lot to be done on many different aspects however this is a start.

I agree John23 having a size limit would be way better.

LOL! I like fishing rivers and have had great success however the rivers I have been on change in a heart beat. One trip can be good until the river changes or floating debris. I took my Prop out on the Missouri and had to travel back 3 miles against the current and a 30 mph head wind. Almost didn’t make it back and that was the last time. Anyone I can go with or who wants to go along? LOL! I’m not going to do the trip swap forum thing.
Not looking for spots and I don’t tell anyone. Easy to say when you don’t know a guy.
    Thanks,

I get it! its super gross however you are bringing up another point what about dog owners that don’t pick up after their dog? Spring is in the air and its time to smell your neighbors dog crap. I get it people poop on the ice what about all the run off that comes off of your neighbors poop filled lawn.

Do any of the accesses allow to dock or beach for one guy or is there too much current?
    Thanks Matt

Thanks guys! Dirtywater, Do your guys typically run into a lot of debris and or obstacles down there? Do you see people at the boat ramp with messed up props and scans etc.?

I’m all in on what they are trying to do however there needs to be a lead trade in. Like they did 10-15 years ago. I know Gander Mountain back in the day had a group that exchanged the weight of your lead for the weight in jigs that were stainless steel. You cannot just ban it and let actions take course. What is the DNR going to do go around and test Jigs if your still using them?
Stainless steel is non magnetic the same with lead however tungsten is.

    Yes,
Everything you said is correct. Except whether your installing UF or conduit you need to be 18″ below grade however 12″ if you are 120V or less with GFCI protection and not over 20 Amps. It is more expensive to install conduit and wire however the likely hood of the system failing if installed correctly is almost zero. Also the other benefit is the ability to upsize the conductors if needed. I think 2″ is a little to big for his use. This will create problems with entering the service in the house and entering the sub panel in the garage.

My anchor is laying on the bottom of lake due to the old man! He told me a story of his brother in-law that did that 20 years ago and then as he was telling me the story he did it himself in 50′ of water. (we were just swimming). LOL! Haven’t used one since.

Bigstorm, This question is like asking what arrow rest to put on your bow or what gun to buy. You will have multiple answers that all are different. However here is my two pennies I can offer lol! If your going to have a AC I’m assuming window AC that will require a miminum 15A usually 20A dedicated circuit. However with your heater which is a non-coincidental load with AC will require a 30A based on a 5 KW heater which in turn require 240Vs and your window AC will be 120. Many people have suggested a sub panel or a new service. Going off the meter socket for the new service would work if your meter socket is rated for multiple wires on the load side of the meter. However if your meter socket is a breaker style and has a main then your could go from there otherwise you have to go off of your service panel. Your installation would then be a sub panel as the meter is considered the service or main service panel. I would run a 60Amp sub panel in the garage to give you 240V for a heater. That would require #4 copper or #1 aluminum with voltage drop considered.
    Good luck!

Thats crazy! I live in Maple Grove as well! Usually a pretty quit place. Thats why I put up multiple security cameras. People gotta be dumb to step foot on this property they will be caught on multiple cameras and angles. Must of been scoped out for a while doesn’t sound like a grab and go. Let us know if you find anything out!

We were on Mille Lacs and caught around 25 between two fish houses. All fish were caught between 5:30 PM and 9:00 AM. It’s been a night bite for us all year long. Only 3 were in the current slot limit. What I have been mainly targeting all Ice season out there were transition areas between bars or rock piles. Its worked out for us pretty good this year.
