My Son and I hit Pool 2 on Monday. Like the previous we to fell subject to a big Donut! I too thought it would be better. Not a single knock! Decided to winterize the boat, get the chains on the ATV, patch up the burn holes on the portables and charge the batteries on the vexilars. Bring on the cold!

The North Gate was locked? I know the South Gate is locked. What time were you there I understand there are Park Hours, if it was early perhaps the Park Police had not been there to unlock it? I was hoping to fish the upper half tomorrow.

There is a post stating they are closing Coville this weekend due to high water. Is there a possibility of the contest being cancled/postponed? How will we be notified?

Sealegs made it out after the Vikes game on P2. The report from guys pulling off the river was it was slow! We found it slow until it got dark and then things picked up from 645 to 745pm we caught 15-20 in that hour! Nothing big but it was pretty good action. Hard to leave!

I think do away with the prize money and get bigger trophies!! Then watch Labsrule actually take this tourney seriously! Heck he may even fish P4 prior to the tourney if that was the case! Or how about trophies 1st-85th then everyone can bring home something other than a sunburn!! 8 years me and the big red one from tornado alley have fished this tourney and have had nothing but memorable moments from late starts, to top 5 finishes, to 25lbs catfish and getting skunked. But if it werent for the tradition of the tourney It would be one less day I would get to fish with my favorite fishing partner. I think thats what this tourneys about haveing fun with the people we enjoy. It sounds a bit sappy but thats what it is for me. Sure, Id like to finish first and out fish all those big rigs. Weve come close a couple of times and from that we’ve got some good stories!! Thats what I like not the money! No one ever remembers the money, they remember the fish and the stories that go along with them. I could care less if someone is cheating! Im still going to pay my entry fee, show up late, have a great breakfast wrap on the water, wish I had sunblock (or an exta layer!),talk about where we caught fish (or what we caught and where we caught them) and leave full from the Elks Club! Thats what fun for me! if we weigh in its a bonus!

Sealegs was out last night from 500 to 800 and i caught 7 with 21 inches being the biggest. I was casting into the shallow water. Also worth noting the shad are thick right now!! The seagulls were having easy pickin’! I didnt try trolling as i was picking up a fish here and there casting.

the sealegs also made it out for a few hours on Sat with similar results we did manage two white bass for our efforts pretty disappointing thought we would muster a few walleyes in the slack water!

I think they enter in on the lower hiddenfalls entrance. look for the steep rip rap north of the marina and sit on the point. have some fun, hope the weather doesnt move them to far!

The Sealegs made it out on Sat evening on the upper portion of 2. The white bass were in full force entertaining the shore fisherman. as the sun hit the tree tops we picked up 7 walleyes in about an hours time the biggest being 23 inches. We were trolling shadraps in 5-9 ft.

You could try Hannays marine in MPLS 612-781-7411 I had an issue once similar to yours where I needd it the next weekend and they took me in and finished it the next day. Now Its not the west suburbs and does require trailering your boat through MPLS but that may be what keeps the appointments open. Good Luck!

The Sealegs made its annual journey down to pool 4 from pool 2 to fish the Pooh Bear. That tourney has been alot of fun for us over the years. I never have entered another tourney are there others of this caliber every weekend down there?

Sealegs and Co. were also out on Friday we trolled up river and only caught White Bass. We switched to bobber fishing up by the lock as my 4 yr old likes to watch the bobber. We managed 8 walleyes nothing big a bunch of crappies and two catfish a 6 and 7 lbs’er (thought they were walleyes)Boy did my son think those cats were something special! He liked the way they purred! He didnt want to hold them, neither did my 32 year old fishing buddy!! Good thing dad was along to take the fish off!

We were up from the confluence back in some slack water, tried last night for the evening bite and not much happening we did catch fish but not the right kind. One thing I noticed were a half dozen fishermen fishing the Water Gate Marina access and dock area, didnt see anything caught just noticed the crowd.

The Sealegs made it out to listen to the Twins game yesterday we got anchored up in the 5th and managed 8 walleyes from the 5th to the 9th. A disappointing loss for the Twin a nice surprise for the Sealegs as the current was really moving and the expectations were low. Im going to try it again tonight and see how the evening bite goes. Game time is 705 in Chicago.

I spent the afternoon on pool 2, and I would have to say the bite has slowed since the last week and a half. We managed 8 eyes but worked for them trolling cranks! White bass are still active shallow as the shore fishermen are filling their buckets! If you need more action bring a scoop of fatheads along you’re bound to get on the bass!

I fished Bowstring on Sat the 20th got 6 crappies in first 40 mins then it shut down. a few northerns after that. Talked with locals who said the crappie bite had been fantastic up until sat. Seems as if the crappie numbers have been way up over the past year as I did real well on them in the fall. Not much action on the walleye trail any info on that?

I tried taking your advice from a while ago and pitched hair jigs at the wing dams only we started out from the Lilydale Access and worked thos wingies right out in front and caught a few sheepheads then we worked our way north. we were fishing in 8ft and things really picked up at about 5:00 once the sun went down then we ran out of minnows. Again not much size. We did try crankin’ on our way up with only oak leaves to show for it. Is it time to put the crankbaits away ? the last few times I always give it a whirl but only been catching rough fish. Any insight always appreciated!
