I pulled some cranks on sunday for a couple of hours in the after noon. I managed to pick up a 25″er and a 17″er (C&R) I worked in the maiden rock area in 13.5-14 feet of water. I caught the two within ten minutes of each other and then had to cut it short due to electrical problems and a faulty fuel gauge . otherwise i am confident that i could have boated a few more.

I think I am going to pull the trigger, 35 bones is relatively inexpensive for an on board charger thanks for the replies.
March 15, 2005 at 8:26 am #349713okay, I admittingly have a lot to learn in the realm of fishing, only recently having the time and money to purchase the necessary items. can someone explain the advantages of hi-vis line? do you run clear leaders with it? I thought that it is best to not let the fish see the line. like i said, it may be a stupid question, but i’ve never fished with hi vis line.

Do you know of any similar problem corresponding to lakemaster chips?
it is unkown at this time. the lowrance guy told me that i was the first one to call with this problem. they assured me that they will get it taken care of quickly. i would think that if you go on their website and see a software upgrade dated after 3-8-05 that they will have taken care of the problem.
March 7, 2005 at 5:32 am #347614I just bought my first boat this year. I can speak from experience that it is very much appreciated when someone offers to help if someone’s having trouble figuring it out. I still have difficulty loading and unloading at times. and it doesn’t help me do it any faster when someone is breathing down my neck and upset. I don’t generaly take longer than 5 minutes but that is just too long sometimes at busy ramps. hopefully the more i fish the better i get. maybe there needs to be a boating information course on ettiquete and proper procedures that could be attended. its slick when you have two people fishing, but that’s rarely the case with me.
December 12, 2004 at 8:03 pm #331382my self as well as several of my buddies own the marcum
lx-3. what an awesome unit. the adjustable zoom is very helpfull when trying to see those bottom hugging fish. the clarity and crispness of the display are unsurpassed. I too had to research this topic a couple of years ago and went with the marcum as apposed to the brand. both are great units and i have fished with both. the transducer does have a noticeble snap to it, I think it may even attract some fish at times. I personnaly like the adjustable arm on the lx-3 as apposed to the float method that the vex has I tend to lose less fish around the transducer. either way i don’t think you can go wrong. electronics have made ice fishing a little more interactive.December 8, 2004 at 6:40 pm #330826no one has mentioned the marcum lx-3 yet? I won’t debate which one is better, but keep your options open. the lx-3 is an awesome flasher, if money is an issue then the lx-1 is about a c-note cheaper. I have had mine for 2 years and wouldn’t go ice fishing with out it. now if i could just get some ice
December 5, 2004 at 3:29 am #330352just for your info, thorne bros had their custom rods there. just about every setup you could ask for. I came home with two along with a new revolution bag.
November 14, 2004 at 6:28 am #327469A nils master hand auger isn’t much more than a lazer. the nils master is actually faster and cuts easier because the handle is off-set making it easier to use. I have used one and they are awesome.
October 19, 2004 at 3:14 am #324813the way i hear it you should have just saved your battery and not drilled any holes… you would have caught just as many fish Icouldn’t help but give you a little ####. Oh and with the gas prices the way they are now an electric may be the way to go.
October 16, 2004 at 3:51 am #324556hey wadsworth, how long before you give up on the electric and sell it on ebay?????? get a real auger, 2 horse jiffy. my batteries won’t ever go bad and need to be replaced.
September 22, 2004 at 10:20 pm #322162even if this bike wasn’t going 205 miles per hour, this bike was going very fast. from the aspect of the law the fine for 100 miles over the speed limit is most likely the same to that of 150 miles over the limit. I heard that this wasn’t the only bike clocked over 110 miles per hour on that same stretch of road that day. at those speeds they wouldn’t even make good organ donors. on a similar note did anyone hear about the motorcycle that met up with a hay wagon in excess of 100 miles per hour recently? not good.
slow down please!!!!!!!!!!
September 9, 2004 at 4:54 pm #320439thanks for your replies..lots of helpful info now its decision time

August 20, 2004 at 8:32 pm #318276this kind of weather gets me thinking about hard water fishing, nothing like the smell of my mr heater warming the air!!!!!!
August 5, 2004 at 8:38 pm #315612i picked mine up cheap at fleet farm a couple months ago. the major complaint is that the drag keeps loosening up. but other than that the reel seems to be what one could expect from a 25 dollar trolling reel.
August 5, 2004 at 8:21 pm #315604brunn, thanks for the info. i called lowrance and they said the update is in the mail. they also said that most of the gps not responding problems were due to improper installation due to a vague manual. thanks.
