It sounds like cutting poles is not the best route?

Didn’t fish for them this weekend, but they were all over up there, couldn’t keep them off your line. We fished down river from Frontier.

Did well Friday morning until about 2pm…then the water turned.

We fished south of Frontier, closer to the ice was better. Majority of fish caught were in 8-11ft. Sturgeon were on fire out there too.

I’d contact Bobber at Red Door. If you dont’ have a sled, it’s a short walk out from their access.

For ice houses (ice castle’s/permanent’s, etc) you can’t beat them. My buddy has one that we use at Mille Lacs for our shack. Nothing beats being able to keep the doors closed and drilling a hole, and not having to air it out for a while.

    Battery storage is key.

If you’re looking to hole hop and be portable, I’d look at something else.

What flats are putting out fish? None out of the north end. My permanent has been out there, I have fished outside of it many times hopping around. I got more fish off the first sand break, and by more I mean a couple. It’s slow….. We’ve been on the North End flats for three weeks now (two shacks) and 1 walleye, no perch, three tulibees. Never thought I’d say this, but fishing in the metro is better than Mille Lacs right now. Worst year in 7 years that we have been out of the North End. 60,000 pound qouto this year for a reason.

Look up strikemaster authorized service centers. Last time I checked, there was a lot that were listed. Many are small engine shops in and around the metro area.

Lots of snow on the lake….Was up Sat/Sun at Red Door prepping the ice shack to get moved out. There was a guy out of the Myr Mar public access on the north end, past the big pressure ridge on Sunday morning. Too early for North End if you ask me.

If you run multiple items, or for example a pizza oven, you’re going to want to get the 2000, not the 1000. They are nice and quiet. Make sure the oil has been changed regularly. Ours (1000) requires a change every 50 hours, and it’s very simple to do.

He’s 11 years old. The sizes for jackets would be roughly 8-10 for youth. Pants would be around an 8 as well.

I have the biggest otter sled (Resort) they make, and have a Kawasaki 400, and it fits my 6×10 perfect, with no room between the tailgate and the sled (in back of 4 wheeler).

Loads for a smooth bore won’t matter that much at all. Either way, they are getting lobbed out, not the rotation that happens with rifled barrels (spun around). The rifled barrels, when shot with Sabot slugs, will be way more accurate, and you will also have more reach. I am partial to Winchester Partition Gold, more expensive, but hopefully when you’re sighted in it only takes one shot. They have some knockdown power.

I got the 5 pack, I’ve had pretty good results on panfish, and the perch at Mille Lacs like them too(it’s fun to have the camera down there during the ice).

I don’t have a problem with doing things the old fashioned twins way, but I think if they could do that, they would. Problem is, we don’t have any middle infielders who can hit .280 or above and have decent defense. We also don’t have any major league ready pitchers that are a 1,2, or 3 starter aside from Diamond (which a half year’s performance is nothing to bank on as your ace from here on out). When you have pitchers who pitch to contact, you need defense behind us. I’d like it to be back to the days when we had a Johan Santana in the bullpen due to no room in the rotation. Those days won’t be around for a while. I honestly think that if they actually spent some money, not big money, but just some money, on pitching this year, they would be in contention witht he Chicago’s/Detroit’s of the central. But then again, that’s always been our issue, we are content with just being competetive and a first round exit if we do make the playoffs. The twins are raking in way more money than they did at the Dome, they can afford pitching, especially legitimate 2/3’s if they wanted to–Another Carl Pavano type if you will.

As a Twins fan, this is dissappointing. I remember Mauer wanted an “out” clause when he was in negotiations with his contract, I wonder if he will excercise it down the road and the Twins get nothing. What is more concerning, is the fact that the Twins refuse to throw some money at 1 pitcher. This move tells me they are looking at every other way to acquire pitching instead of doing the easy route and offer it up to a free agent. Mauer puts a lot of people in the stands, and is a great role model for the young kids. All the jerseys/shirts you see in the stands are alwayws Mauer/Morneau. The all star game just got awarded to the Twins and now this…….I just don’t understand why our payroll is close to what it was when we were in the Dome. What happened to having a new stadium so we can attract free agents and pay some bigger contracts? If Mauer gets traded, that stadium will be 10-20,000 people for years to come.

If you want some great food, and reasonably priced, check out John Hardy’s BBQ. The main location is off Hwy52/Hwy 14, the other is on South Broadway. The shredded pork plate and JoJo’s are hard to beat. They won’t disappoint.

My third season with mine, and I love them. I can’t compare vs. Sno Suit, Ice Armor, etc. But I can tell you that they are very warm, reinforced knees and other areas which are great, and lots of pockets! Worth every bit of the full price if you ask me. I do not have to layer at all under neath this stuff. A good pair of comfy sweats and a sweatshirt and I’m good to go. I would recommend that product to anyone.

Not too long ago, there was a pig (14lbs I believe) caught on Pool 2. As we know, this is a catch and release. If anywhere cold produce something that big, it would be the Mississippi river system, especially during the spawn.

Took it to Marcum (Versa Electronics) in New Hope. They had it fixed in 30 minutes. It was the motor that went bad.

I would give Fred a call. We have a shack up there and Fred has been very generous in helping us out with items like that over the years.
If you know Fred at all, you know he’s the guy to go to.

Bought new or used? If it’s used, I’d say get the pitch adjusted. If it’s new, take it back!

I have a Lazer mag express (8 inch cut, two blade), have had it since 1997. I have never had any problems other than the cord breaking last year (wear and tear). These engines are unstoppable. Also, if you own a Strikemaster, any model, and it seems like the blades are dull or it has trouble cutting, I would highly recommend getting the pitch adjusted. The authorized dealers consistently state that if you have to put weight on your auger, you can damage the pitch, even if it’s 1/8th inch off. I had it fixed two years ago and couldn’t believe the difference. All these years I thoguht it was the blades. Man they are good augers with great customer service, and local. Good luck.
