Why dont they use these dogs to search the container ships coming in from china? Stop them 20 miles off shore and run a dog through. Oh wait, I forgot, the fishermen introduced these things didnt they. What a crock of manure.

If you’re looking to fish year round dont get the cabin on the Chippewa, the walleye fishing shuts off right around dec 1. The lake usually doesnt get ice-fished unless its cold early. It is a far better lake than wissota for both beauty and fishing but if you want “year round” fishing than take a close look at the lake specific regs on the chip before you buy.

I’m sure this would be great for first ice, but we had a real hard time going once the temps got around 40-45 so last ice may not be an option. We started the trip at 10:30 and the surface of the ice was still frozen and slippery, once that thawed a little we were done. It happened fast too becuase we made it to the far side of the lake on our 3rd trip across and when we started to come back I didnt think we were going to make it. I may need to tweak something though so dont take my word for it. I may look into putting some poly on the bottom of the boat rather than the runners.

To me this sort of thing is weird. Why draw a line in the sand and completely quit? I have gone through “phases” over the years where I change my focus from one form of recreation to another, but why completely quit? Right now you’re having a lot of fun trapping, but what if in 5 years you decide you miss deer hunting?

I bought a new 3hp jiffy about 6 years ago and it would not run properly unless I kept pushing the primer. I took it in to a shop and the guy told me there was a recall on that particular carb and he replaced it for the cost of labor since the warranty was up. One of my friends got the same auger for christmas with the same problems. He eventually had to bring it in for the new carb.

I think that most kids are also a little too sheltered these days to be out on the water by themselves at a young age. Parents are afraid to let the kid go off on their own a little. It’s easier to sit them in front of the TV, that way you dont have to worry about them drowning or having some just released sex offender find your kid in a secluded area.
I remeber riding my bike to the trout stream and soaking worms all day by myself when I was 6 or 7 years old. How many of you would let your kids do that? I don’t know if I will. Of course that is also when trout season was just open or closed and you could keep trout. Now the regs look like a bible and I think you would be immediately strung up from the nearest tree if you tried to soak worms in a trout stream. Maybe all the micro-managing is making it too confusing.

Unfortunately my airboat is at Rays aircraft for repairs right now. I do know some people who might be able to run you out if you are still looking. Give me a call if you still need the names 608-769-6568
