If you sit still and in a shack at all times they don’t help at all.
If you hole hop it is very nice to have. Plus customized look is cool.

There are a lot of options out there keep that in mind.
For the shuttle, Arclab and Summit are the top two there are others but just keep it simple. I say a shuttle as you can have it in the boat and use it in winter too. That is what I do and I like it a lot. I put mine in a milk crate to keep it a little steadier.
For winter there are a lot of pole options out there. Go to Scheels and look and see what works for you and what you like.
Battery lithium is a must for lightweight.
Lots of options out there make sure you get what you like and what works for you.
If you buy the THU on FFS he puts his settings in the video. Very good info
Grizzly, I had looked into it. I know he has a great set up I just don’t know if I can bring myself to pay all that for it. I’m sure it is worth it as he does a great job.
They better be upgrading their FFS, otherwise I am switching to Garmin this winter. Helix units are definitely due for an update as well.
As said above, Garmin is just waiting on their next gen. I would go with Garmin for FFS. They are way ahead of the rest.
Touch screen would be nice. Bird has been behind on that big time.
I have seen and done with the medium fast using mono as the shock absorber and then with the medium light use braid as the rod absorbs some more shock.
It helps to keep them pinned up.
Paint thinner on the sports and then put floor dry over it. I just had Hydraulic fluid all over mine. Works best if the floor dry is fine or you crush it up.
I have a brand new GT 54 in the package and I have never used it. From what I saw the other day though it is good. Bird is a little bit better for some thingsfor SI but you really have to look hard to find bird better. I will take the touch screen over the menu menu of bird. Mapping does suck on Garmin so I still have a bird for the lakemaster.
I have a 54 if anyone wants it. I will sell it cheap.
Ya, I’m looking to playing with it every time I take it out.
I did the same as the back is a little lower. Not much but my thoughts if I’m with someone it makes it level and by myself it is just a little off.
Mine looked pretty good and it was a little ways off. I use the level method and it should be set for opener.
I have just installed it and will test it tomorrow. In the past I never had and issue with level. I would think the manufacture would know what to do for best picture quality. But you never know if something would help out.
I was more curious than anything about how the sonar reacts to different materials and differently shaped surfaces.
I wish a person could see what is the best bang for your buck. Some of the big guys and industry first make a top-quality product. But it is a top quality price. I’m sure some out there are as good for a lot less money, but how does a person know with it all being so new and so many companies popping up.
If you go with the snow bear he will put you on fish. If you are going out on your own be ready to move around. Drill and scan, drill and scan. It is not like before when you sat there and they come through. It needs to be a mobile attack. Once you find them you can make hay.
It is normally best to go up after walleye is done, you have the lake to yourself.
My wife was the first one to drive the new boat, she is a lot easier on the eyes than I. I backed her in and let her do the honors. After spending all that money, it was the least I could do. She does a great job at the landing when we take the kids out.
Sorry, for not posting pictures the first time.
I will have to try the different depths of fenders.
I know there is a learning curve, I don’t want to power load feet as I like to line up and then crank a few times after placing it on the trailer. I will have to go to a landing and try it till I get it right.
Thanks
I bought a new to me boat at the end of September. I did not get out enough in it and I want early ice off. 12-inch Garmin to mount to the dash and rig the transducer. Spring can’t come soon enough.
I put mine on a Marcum shuttle. I would not do that again. They come with a laptop battery that does not last long. I wish it did as they are a great setup. I like the rod holders and the LED light is great at night.
I would do a Genz pack and lithium battery. Cheap and simple. Your Gimble mount can screw right into the plastic.
Others like Bass Khang make nice stuff as well.
You hit the nail on the head. Rich people buying private land and get a lot of public land in the sale. There is a reason for this, they have the money and influence to make public private. It should never be an issue but money talks
I know it was stated above about amps but it was calculated wrong.
Batteries in parallel the voltage stays the same and amps are the sum of batteries.
For batteries in series, the voltage increases for sum of the batteries, and amps stay the same.
Example 3 batteries in series make 36 volts; if all 90 AH batteries, you still only have 90 amps. Of those 90 amps, you can use 45 amps before you get a voltage too low.
So, a 100 amp littium would give you more than double the run time.
It is easy to get series and parallel rules mixed up.
I think for the most part Bird has the best maps.
I have been creating my own maps on lakes I fish with my Garmin as they are pretty far off. I hope they can get it figured out at a price that does not kill a person.
TillerLife:
That is a good idea. It is a great feature on tillers.
We were there on Sunday and did really well.
We pulled lead in 30-35 foot of water where we marked fish and we got one. We switched to gold jigs with minnows. Did some drifting off of structure in the 25-32 feet of water. When the wind changed we looked at structures that were wind-blown. We found fish in 26 next to breaks that were moving up. They just sat up against them. We pitched the jigs and bounced them back. Some times we even dragged it in the mudd. Made sure to pound the mudd and keep the jig near the bottom.
It worked for us hope you have some luck.
If they taste good and you like them, you are doing them right!
To much click bait stuff on the internet.
