Joe – would the 7 base fit in that Clam bag or do you have to put it on a Vexilar base?

Ben – do you have a pic of the way you set it up?

Any idea how much it will cost for the new lx6s shuttle pack? Im not a fan of the one that it is in now.

The marcumtech.com website is listing the lx6s case at a whopping $59.99. At least they know the lx7 case is junk, that’s only $37.99. hah

Junk is right. I love the unit. Case is a joke.

Thank you. I think the case LX7 is pretty much useless on the ice. The unit just won’t stay in the case. Mine dropped out once and I feared the worst but thankfully everything still worked.

Anyone have solutions for that issue?

I bought a LX-5 as a backup to my LX-7. I’ve used it a few times just to check it out and I really like it. However, it did make a trip back to Marcum because it had bad brushes. I was getting a serious delay with the lure. I have used it since and it seemed to work.

I’ve used the LX-7 all winter and so far it’s been really good. I really like it.

I pride myself in hole hopping (mostly because I’m too impatient, which costs me fish) and two weeks ago it was -23 with wind chill pushing -35. I was bundled up and really the main problems were my holes and line freezing before I was cold. Having said that, it was a very trying day, so I think that’s my limit!

I agree with Bob on the sensitivity as far as allowing finer adjustment. I get real close to where I want and then I push the bottom and then show WAY too much or nothing at all. Just one more “push” would be perfect either way. Having said that I used my LX5 which doesn’t have the “separation” like the LX7 does.

As far as a split screen on the cone angles….wouldn’t a person need two transducers then? That would be trouble.

Just thought I would update the situation…Marcum is having me send the unit in. I should get it back in a week or so. Hopefully they can find a solution!

Hey Dave. I was in 40′ of water. I threw everything at it that you mentioned. It was frustrating to say the least. Have an email to Marcum. Hopefully I hear back soon. I don’t mind sending it in. I just want it to work. I really liked it other than the “hesitation”.

It took a few outings but now I love my 7. I had trouble with my unit falling out and cracking the base. The unit came through ok. I will only use the case while transporting it now. I will take it out when on the ice.

Question is…if my unit would have “broken” due to this inferior design (in my opinion) would Marcum have replaced my $700 unit because of a $30 soft case?

Last week I had the same issue and finally took it out of the case. Today I had in back in there so I would “protect” it. So much for that….

Thanks everyone! Starting to see. I may have to experiment a little bit this weekend with ping rates.

So would that make a bigger “blob”? Or does that have nothing to do with it?

Thanks Joel! – Yeah, I’ve noticed on the show you tend to stick with the LX5 when you are hole hoping. Enjoy the show every week!

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I’ve had a little trouble with dynamic. When the unit is in dynamic it “flashes” at times or there is a quick “delay”. Doesn’t happen in the other options.

    Any other thoughts?

I use mostly manual mode. Changed the target setting often. Used both cone angles. I haven’t messed with the ping settings. No weeds really to speak of. Like I said I’m guessing it’s a learning curve.
