Wow, I just went through the same debate.
My Etec 50 is a tiller without a tach.
    I damaged the factory prop, which was a 13-3/4 x 13 aluminum.
    I went to a 13-3/4 x 15 aluminum.
I would have loved to go higher, but without a tach I chickened out.
Like the guys said, I gained 4-5 MPH on the top end and lost hole shot.
    Good luck.

The bull likely was exhausted from the rut along with being very old, he was probably at the end of his life. When he jumped the fence and lost his footing in the soft ground, I can see how this could happen.

You got it Kooty. I spoke with these guys directly and that is exactly how they explained it. With fresh snow on the ground, it was apparently pretty obvious how it all went down.

    Brainerd/Leech area was quiet.
I shot only 5 birds for the weekend, 4 woodies and 1 teal.
Check out the MN-DNR CO reports for last weekend, very negative regarding hunter participation and success over the opener.
I did have to make my first rescue while hunting.
5 minutes after legal shooting on Saturday, I could hear screams for help. I thought that somebody had been shot for sure.
Responded ASAP and found a 12′ boat upside-down with the motor prop in the air, and 3 very cold and scared 17 year olds hanging on for dear life. All ended well though.
I have not heard many real good reports yet.
Sounds like the Winnie area produced pretty good numbers of divers.
    Good luck
    cheers

In my opinion this is a no-brainer, the 870 is the perfect gun for your needs.
    Slug barrels are readily available.
Go with the 26″ barrel, the advice that you received about shot petterns is correct.
You are unlikely to have any issues with this gun, but if you did, most gunsmiths are very knowledgeable on the Remingtons and have parts on hand for them.
I no longer own an 870, but I’m currently rebuilding my inventory, as the 870 will be the first gun that each of my kids will own!
    Good luck

    HRG
    Nuvi 500 at Amazon

The price sounds great, but I need confirmation on my understanding. Does the Lakemaster chip really work (and work well) with the Nuvi?
Does the Nuvi allow me to leave bread crumb trails or mark way points?

all of the above is good advice, verify that you have power to the pumps and that all the connections are clean and tight, if both pumps are not working then i would check the source of power before taking the pumps out, i’ve had the same problems on my 97 pro v

    Don’t forget mice
A couple chomps on the wire insulation could also be your problem…
    good luck

You’re probably younger and in better shape than I am
I have learned alot of things over the past several years, when hunting the late season, nasty weather divers…
We make every attempt to never get out of the boat, unless it is on land

Here are a few representations of the Pop-Up blinds that we use.
#1 I can easily hunt three guys in this rig.
#2 Stable shooting platform and a great view!
#3 Just about to start breaking ice. This is how the blind is stowed for going down the highway.
#4 Going to pick up dead birds. this is partially knocked down.
#5 Dockside the night before an opener
Yes, I do duck hunt out of a white boat
This blind attaches with four set screws to the gunnel. set up and knockdown take all of 1-2 minutes. It is windproof and waterproof. it does not flap arround in the wind. Add the Mr. Heater and youre hunting in style.
Don’t forget the single burner and coffee pot.
    Good luck
    cheers

This is what I run and I love it
    http://www.popupblind.com/boatblinds.html
Keep in mind though, I focus heavily on big water, off-shore diver hunting.
Mine is mounted on a Alumacraft Lunker with an Etec 50 HP.
Works great for what we do
    Good luck

Did anyone else see the 2 shacks that were burning on friday? All I could see was billowing smoke from miles away but heard that the 1 burnt to the ground in a matter of minutes. That was to the south west of Hunters Point, the other shack was to the north of Hunters.

This is a photo thay my Bro-in-law sent me. It is the remains of the house north of Hunters. I beleive this photo is taken in front of Agate Bay.
Apparently the guy was just drilling holes, getting ready to enjoy his weekend… Some combination of the auger and a propane leak?
No injuries, but once the thing started, all he could do is stand back and watch
    Good luck
