hopefully this clears up the digital read out jumping around while sitting in the same hole. Was fishing saturday night in 6ft of water and the read out would jump to 11ft, 6ft, 6.2, 6.3. This was in manual set at 10ft. I switched over to dynamic and then the whole screen would start jumping around. hopefully this clears up them issues. I still will not go back to a mechanical. had my dad and his vexilar in the house with me, Holy snikees are they loud!!

Hopefully 4.07 fixes this, I was given 4.06 from Marcum support to resolve another issue I was having… was running into the same jumping around with 4.06

Cold Snap cover for me. I did the magnet thing and it can work well but the Cold Snap cover is a more reliable cover IMO.

Bought my cold snap cover for my Nils Saturday while on the ice with Dan Houg. To say the cold snap cover is an improvement is a mild understatement. Great product!

My 2nd Honda Lite started bogging down while I was on the ice Saturday (2 week old auger). I checked the gas cap for venting, started the auger and it died again. Then I checked and removed the black tube from the clip as suggested by the SM email… started the auger and it died again and this time it locked up… just like the first one.

The right amount of oil in this auger, this was not operator error…. very frustrating. Scheels took the auger back and gave me a full refund. Strikemaster emailed me Monday to say I probably needed a carb adjustment… ummmm doubt that is going to fix the locked up issue, though it may have helped before it bogged down… still not sure why the auger would run like crap on one outing, perfect on another outing, and then like crap on another outing… I ordered a Nils on Monday, what the hell… may as well give one of those a try while I am at it….. wishing I had kept my Lazer Mag Express..

I used powerpro on an old Frabill I had, my nephew now has the shack and the sewing job is still holding up.

Clam’s customer service is so good because they get so much practice….and that’s a shame. A company that hangs their hat on customer service due to production defects has their priorities mixed up IMO…. Not bashing Clam, just suggesting they could focus more on quality control

and their customers wouldn’t need such stellar customer service after the sale.

Heard back from SM today, thought I would post up their reply as it may save someone from a headache someday… My oil was added in the proper amount. I’ll have to keep my eye on the fuel line retainer clip in the future.

First I need to make sure you only put the 1.7oz bottle of oil in the motor that we provided. If you over fill the motor with oil it will not work well at all. If you did put the correct amount of oil in it, it may be two other problems. The gas cap may not be venting properly. When the auger starts to die, open the gas tank to relieve any pressure that may have built up. If this does not remedy the problem make sure that the black fuel line that exits the back of the gas tank is not being pinched by the black retainer clip that it is run though. If it is being pinched by this, remove the fuel line and run it outside the black retainer clip. Let me know if any of these things help.

I also took mine out on the ice last night. Drilled a dozen holes without issue, plan on giving it a workout Thursday morning. Hoping that was the last of my problems.

Curious if anyone found a resolution to this problem. Strikemaster still has not returned my call. The new auger that Scheels swapped by “locked up” auger with is doing the same thing

Took it out on the ice for the first time today. Starts just fine but if you try to run it throttle wide open and it dies in about 3 or 4 seconds. If I only have the throttle half open, or less, it will cut very slowly. I’ll be calling SM again this week, probably daily until they answer and emailing too…. grrr…

I second the Digger auger mount. Great mount system, simple and effective. I first had this mount on my snowmobile and now have it on the ATV.

Mine was doing the same thing this weekend. Up until this weekend it had been flawless.

I was able to cut a couple holes but about halfway through the ice (9″) it would bog down and die. I’d start it again and it would idle for a moment and then die. I tried starting it again and the engine locked up… completely froze up

Took the auger home, pulled the recoil cover to make sure that wasn’t the reason behind the lock up and it wasn’t. Called SM yesterday morning, left a message and still haven’t heard back from them…

I called H2 Outfitters, they said they had one come in last week with exact same symptoms, couldn’t diagnose the problem so they sent it directly back to SM. They advised I call SM directly.

I originally bought the auger through Scheels, they happened to have one Honda-Lite left in stock so they swapped me for mine. THANK YOU SCHEELS! Hope this isn’t a problem we see again.

Kahtoola’s by far are the best I have owned. I like the stabilicers too but last year tried out the Kahtoola’s… incredible cleats.

I love this type of fishing! I spent the majority of today fishing with the short rods and flasher while the boat was tied up to some timber. The fish weren’t as cooperative as we would have liked but still a lot of fun.

This pic is from last fall, November 11th to be exact
