We spent 10 hours out there on Saturday – ice is great 20″ or so – the snow can be a factor if you dont stay on the “roads”…. fish has been “ok” over the past couple of weeks. Been more of an afternoon bite for most people
We use the Strikemaster electric for ours – if you are planning on doing a LOT of opening of old holes, make sure that you have a chipper blade – it can make life a little easier…
If interested in the 2.5hp Lazer Mag – D Rock Center (Strikemaster authorized repair center) has new 2.5 hp power heads for 275.00 and you can get a “used” 8″ auger for 95.00 – it will save you some off of the normal retail price of 450.00 – great service center

One of the other things to consider is how often you fish “close” to others – i have a good friend that has the 35 and has problems with interference.. The New LX3 unit has a patented new and improved twelve level “Interference Rejection” feature that allows the user to knock out interference from other nearby sonar units.
I would call up S&W bait off of 371 – great people, great bait!!! Sherree is the owner and can answer all your questions and guide needs! or you could try Sportland Bait – also great people!
I had an auger rack that was almost the same – it was great! I would suggest putting reflective tape on the outside of the rack for your night fishing – my bags and gear blocked my tail light…
I have and LX5 – would not trade it for the world – I fish with my cousin quite a bit that also has and LX5 – we are within 3 feet of each other, and no problems at all… but it does screw up those who are close and using a Vex.
