Great question. This year I think I’ll buy her a new trolling motor for “our” boat. What could go wrong?

You’d hope as the season progresses your team improves. This team has been going backward pretty much every game. It looks like the DC’s of the world have seen enough tape on Darnold to shut him down, or force him into stupid turnovers. And the Vikings are still the Vikings. They need 7 yards, run a 6 yard route. Need 5, go 4. Holding a lead with a few minutes left? Three high school level running plays and then punt the ball away to give the opposition a chance to win. As much as I absolutely detest the “prevent defense”, I really despise the “prevent offense” ! Why stop doing what got you a lead in the first place.

    OK, rant off.

I’ll be interested in hearing how the dyeing works. I do a lot of tying but haven’t tried that yet.

In his later years, Dad didn’t get out fishing with me much anymore. When I’d get home from a trip I’d always call him with the “fishing report”. He’s been gone 24 years now, and to this day I stop and think about calling him. Miss ya, Dad.

Fourth win in a row, come from behind win against a ranked opponent on the road. These guys aren’t going to win the national championship but they aren’t the 5th inning Yankees either. Today was fun.

Last February my winter boots finally fell apart. Cabela’s was out, zippo. Minnesota in the middle of winter and they’re out of stock. So now it’s November, and they still don’t have anything in stock. I just want a pair of boots evil

Not so long ago Cabela’s private label gear was top of the line. If you bought something that said “Cabela’s”, it was very good stuff. Those days are long gone.

I’ve had my share of medical issues over the last 15 years. Most importantly they were able to fix the problems and I’m still out on Pool 2 fishing Walleyes. That’s the upside. The downside is billing and insurance and scheduling and all that. I’ve had more issues with medical bills than everything else added together, by far. I’ve never had any kind of screw up with NSP or the trash guy. But every single medical bill has to be carefully scrutinized for errors. They are either grossly incompetent or outright crooks. Thankfully I married an accountant who has the tenacity of a bulldog and will hound them to death. And she likes to fish, so I have that going for me.

I have a crusty old Spartan roller trailer. I thought it would be a good idea to hit the rollers with a shot of WD-40.

    BAD IDEA

It gave a whole new meaning to the term “launching the boat”. The old Lund would shoot down the ramp like lightning and drag me into the river with it. I had to hook a leash rope to the boat and wrap it around the winch post just to have a chance of controlling things.

I bought a couple of DT’s a while ago. Both baits failed within minutes, the bills broke off when the lure hit the water. Rapala’s “customer service” told me they must have failed because I was slapping them against the side of the boat to get weeds off. I tried going up the chain with that and had no luck. I’m done buying Rapalas.

I have to agree with Grouse. I use an old set of Crock Sticks and I invested in a leather strop. All my knives are razor sharp, especially my Leech Lake filet knife. The strop makes a sharp knife really sharp.

We did OK today, found some birds this morning and then did a lot of walking after that to see only lonely hen get up. They were spooky and getting up way out in front of the dogs. Still surprised I can hit a moving target with a shotgun.

Many years ago my Great Grandmother immigrated here from Switzerland. After looking around for a while, she declared “We live on the best place”. I think she was right.

Glad to hear Pug is OK.

I’ve caught more Pike in the last two weeks than I have in the last ten years. Best one was 32 inches and fat.

Saw him Thursday morning heading up river with two ladies. Didn’t see where he went. I was vertical jigging at the time with a south wind, so yea it’s not easy to do!

Last week I was walking across the back yard with a shovel in my hand, and a mole took off right in front of me. It was a bad day for the mole.

A friend of mine made his own .mp3 files and loaded them into the phone somehow. They were recordings of Morse Code that he could associate with specific callers. That way he would know who was calling. If it was me his phone would send “K0SR” in Morse Code, etc. This worked just fine until Apple would update his phone over night and in the morning it would all be gone. I don’t remember exactly how he did this, but I do remember he hated Apple.

I hear ya Jimmy. Between the weather, the fake news, and Whatever local sports team losing again…..I find myself watching the cartoon channel more and more just to keep my sanity.

A lot of bigger capacitors have that stuff inside. The old “Electrolytic” capacitors would sometimes blow up when they got old. Sounded like a 12 gauge going off, and it would shoot pieces of capacitor all over the place. I’m kind of surprised to see this kind of component failure on a newer machine.

Matt it was a short wingdam with a nice current seam running down the length of it. A perfect setup to swing a streamer. You’re right, most places would be out of reach mainly due to the depth.

I don’t know the top of the pool at all. I don’t know where the launches are, etc. I need to figure that out as I think the Smallies are bigger up there.

Doing it the hard way. Out this morning chasing Smallies and White Bass with my 8 eight and streamer. And then this guy shows up. Actually caught 3 Walleyes this morning and only one White Bass.

Baitcaster and a big Dardevle. Stand back 75 feet away and snag it out off the deck. Then personally I’d use a Molotov Cocktail.

“What other lures do people like?”

I’ve done well using hair jigs. However I really like chasing them with a fly rod. Gurglers, small poppers, Murdich Minnows, and Clousers.
