I never ate any, but there was a place here in town that used to sell smelt by the pound bag. Best tip up bait for Pike ever, hands down.

Bummer. Every spring they put that dock in, it rains non stop, and then the river goes nuts and they close the accesses. Hope this year is mellow
I don’t want to use a shotgun on silver carp, but I could see strapping the pads on and grabbing a landing net and playing carp goalie. What do you think, Deertracker?
Jamie, thanks for the idea. I spent some time cutting pieces of foam and it looks like this just might work.
Thanks for the help everyone!

Did a bit of research online, and it looks like there are about 25,000 brands of lithium battery on the market right now. I’m glad I’m too broke to afford these things otherwise I’d me very confused.
I’m old enough to remember when FM was a real backwaters in radio, AM and especially WCCO was king. Back then KQ would play an incredible range of stuff that you never heard anywhere else. Songs that ran for 10 minutes, underground bands, lots of great stuff. Segal-Schwall band. Turner, Ray, and Glover. Alman Brothers. Crow. Bonnie Raight before she got famous. It was awesome.
Then the station got sold in the mid 70’s and instantly turned “corporate” with repeating playlists, lots of commercials, and DJ’s who would never shut up.
Anybody remember Beaker Street from the mighty 1090, KAAY in Little Rock? You can still heard Clyde on Friday nights over the Internet at arkansasrocks.com

Another big earthquake today near the island of Tonga.
Guess we can put up with some more snow.

Twice in my life I have been standing on a lakeshore when the ice was breaking up. A gentle breeze making a million small shards of ice tap against each other. Each tap makes a sound like a little bell. A million little bells. You stand there taking this all in knowing it will be gone in a matter of hours.

I remember Dick Schaak. He had a place on a lake in Wisconsin. One spring morning I was way out in front of his place in waders fishing Walleyes. He came out and tried to tell me I was trespassing. I told him to, uh, attempt reproduction by himself. He was unhappy.

Yay! But also good with a big glob of horseradish sauce!
That’s my girl!
I have to ask. Do the Goshawks, owls, and other predators leave the Grouse alone in the winter too?
Here’s a crazy thought. How about the Gophers dropping down to FBS? The best game I saw all year was NDSU versus SDSU. Montana State’s quarterback was all world. Great football without the million dollar price tag.

I usually listen to Blues, and that’s hard to find on the air. Even the B.B. King channel on SXM misses the mark. Other wise yes you’re right.
“Tom Bernard retired some time ago from KQRS.”
LOL. It’s called sarcasm. Last time I listened to radio was “some time ago”.
I have a usb thing in the truck, haven’t listened to radio in many years. Is Tom Bernard still on KQ? Anyway I have a bunch of stuff I like and no commercials or endless blathering.

What Matt said. I have a 50# and if there’s much current I’m going backwards.
Sharon you count weird. Everybody I ever played against started with 15’s, then pairs, then runs.

What is a “wind knot”? I’ve seen the term used in fly fishing, and in that case it’s a result of over powering the cast and has nothing to do with wind. Is your line maybe twisted? That could lead to kinks and snarls.

Menards shrunk their aisles and bought these humongous carts. If there’s a cart in the way, a person can’t squeeze past much less another cart.
I miss the old Bartle’s hardware store here in town.

My last vacuum cleaner sucked.
Sorry, somebody was going to make that joke.
We currently have a Shark Navigator and it’s been doing the job. But be forewarned, Shark designs their products so they can’t repaired. They use several sizes of weird fasteners, the plastic pieces snap together so break if you try to get it apart, and even if you do get inside, they don’t have any repair parts available.

Here ya go Labdaddy.
The streamer uses Mylar piping for the body, red tag, grey squirel tail for the wing, and hen hackle for the throat. The head is grey dubbing. I’ve caught a lot of Crappies with this fly, as well as my personal best Smallmouth.
The popper is a bug I made out of foam window insulation. The tail is grey squirrel, there’s black saddle hackle in front of that, and I painted it with model airplane paint that comes in the little jars. It floats like a cork and makes a nice deep “blurp”, bit doesn’t hold up really well after a bunch of Largemouth have chewed on it.
SR
I tie a streamer pattern that uses squirrel tail. It’s slippery and hard to work with, but it looks great in the water. I think my streamer looks like a fathead, who knows what the fish think.

No way I’m ever going to spend $100 on a wallet that will never have more than $30 in it.

I guess we knew this was coming but it sure doesn’t make it any easier. You’re now in a club none of us want to be in. My heart goes out to you old friend.

Saw two boats up above the bridge this afternoon. Looked wonderful.
