My side by side is choked modified and full. I seem to drop more bird with the full choke. Admittedly my sample size isn’t very big

Listening to Al Shaver call the game on the radio.
Getting hot and making the Stanley Cup finals.
The night Bill Masterson died.
Gump.
10 tons of explosives and they couldn’t blow up the Met.
Memories!

Swung by the 494 access this morning. The roads, parking lot, and ramp have all been plowed and sanded and salted. There is a bit of shore ice right at the end of the ramp otherwise it’s all open and clear. The old river sure looked good. Too bad it’s going to be below zero tonight.

Dear Mr. Soto,
I saw in the news that you just signed a contract for $765 million.
I need a new trolling motor. Can you help a guy out?
Thanks
I’ve caught fish all over the place. I even catch Walleyes on blade baits once in a while. I can catch Bass on the two acre pothole down the block from my house. But I can’t catch a cold on the Brûle. I’ve been there a bunch of times, never caught anything. Never saw anybody else catch anything. I finally concluded Steelhead are imaginary and threw in the towel.

Happy Birthday Randy.
Remember, you’re only as old as you feel.
I guess that doesn’t work either. does it?
SR
Grouse, your anniversary is in October? Ours is also in October. Tell you what, next October you guys come over here and I’ll make dinner for all of us.
The best steak I’ve ever had was at a deer shack in northern St. Louis county. And the best fish I’ve ever eaten I make myself, if I say so myself. Pretty good at roasting chickens too.
Restaurants are crowded, noisy, and expensive. No joy in it for me at all.
SR
Holy crap, that is scary. Glad you’re OK, and I hope you find what you want for a new boat. Wow.
SR
Got my pumpkin pie ready and will be roasting a chicken tomorrow. Looking forward to a fun day. Much to be thankful for this year.
SR
Great question. This year I think I’ll buy her a new trolling motor for “our” boat. What could go wrong?
SR
You’d hope as the season progresses your team improves. This team has been going backward pretty much every game. It looks like the DC’s of the world have seen enough tape on Darnold to shut him down, or force him into stupid turnovers. And the Vikings are still the Vikings. They need 7 yards, run a 6 yard route. Need 5, go 4. Holding a lead with a few minutes left? Three high school level running plays and then punt the ball away to give the opposition a chance to win. As much as I absolutely detest the “prevent defense”, I really despise the “prevent offense” ! Why stop doing what got you a lead in the first place.
OK, rant off.
SR
I’ll be interested in hearing how the dyeing works. I do a lot of tying but haven’t tried that yet.
SR
In his later years, Dad didn’t get out fishing with me much anymore. When I’d get home from a trip I’d always call him with the “fishing report”. He’s been gone 24 years now, and to this day I stop and think about calling him. Miss ya, Dad.

Fourth win in a row, come from behind win against a ranked opponent on the road. These guys aren’t going to win the national championship but they aren’t the 5th inning Yankees either. Today was fun.

Last February my winter boots finally fell apart. Cabela’s was out, zippo. Minnesota in the middle of winter and they’re out of stock. So now it’s November, and they still don’t have anything in stock. I just want a pair of boots
Not so long ago Cabela’s private label gear was top of the line. If you bought something that said “Cabela’s”, it was very good stuff. Those days are long gone.
SR
so Sharon……clue us in more about the cabin. how much land comes with it’
running water
heat…..insulated…hows the fishing?????
did the previous owners leave all the stuff, or you got to replenish alot of stuff…………..
Oh it’s a real crap hole, you’d hate it.
Trust me
It’s a nice big lake with a lot of structure, I’m sure she’ll find something sooner or later.
Proud Poppa here. And I have another place to go fish LOL.
Congrats Sharon and John!
I’ve had my share of medical issues over the last 15 years. Most importantly they were able to fix the problems and I’m still out on Pool 2 fishing Walleyes. That’s the upside. The downside is billing and insurance and scheduling and all that. I’ve had more issues with medical bills than everything else added together, by far. I’ve never had any kind of screw up with NSP or the trash guy. But every single medical bill has to be carefully scrutinized for errors. They are either grossly incompetent or outright crooks. Thankfully I married an accountant who has the tenacity of a bulldog and will hound them to death. And she likes to fish, so I have that going for me.

I have a crusty old Spartan roller trailer. I thought it would be a good idea to hit the rollers with a shot of WD-40.
BAD IDEA
It gave a whole new meaning to the term “launching the boat”. The old Lund would shoot down the ramp like lightning and drag me into the river with it. I had to hook a leash rope to the boat and wrap it around the winch post just to have a chance of controlling things.
SR
I bought a couple of DT’s a while ago. Both baits failed within minutes, the bills broke off when the lure hit the water. Rapala’s “customer service” told me they must have failed because I was slapping them against the side of the boat to get weeds off. I tried going up the chain with that and had no luck. I’m done buying Rapalas.
SR
I have to agree with Grouse. I use an old set of Crock Sticks and I invested in a leather strop. All my knives are razor sharp, especially my Leech Lake filet knife. The strop makes a sharp knife really sharp.
SR
Us goalies dance around the room after a goal like that. Great fun !
SR
We did OK today, found some birds this morning and then did a lot of walking after that to see only lonely hen get up. They were spooky and getting up way out in front of the dogs. Still surprised I can hit a moving target with a shotgun.

Many years ago my Great Grandmother immigrated here from Switzerland. After looking around for a while, she declared “We live on the best place”. I think she was right.
Glad to hear Pug is OK.

Now it’s 28-22. Looking to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Same old Vikings.
Saw him Thursday morning heading up river with two ladies. Didn’t see where he went. I was vertical jigging at the time with a south wind, so yea it’s not easy to do!
