Check this guide out his name is Bob used him several times about 7 years ago. He fish’s the kasilof river which is about 10 miles south of the kenai. There wasn’t as much fishing pressure and great fishing. he has a lot of packages, fly outs float trips etc. He set me up on a halibut trip with Cpt Bill( short guy as big around as he was tall great guy funny)out of deep creek. great time. check out his web site for more info.

I would first off like to say a big thanks to Flat Fish (tim) for allowing me to join him in his boat. although I have never really fished the Milwaukee area for salmon I learned more then enough to get me started on a life time of fun. One of the best parts of the whole GTG was seeing a person who had never caught a salmon in his life hook into a 13 lb king. when the drag started to scream the look on Chris H’s face was priceless. I think he is hooked. although I did not personally get to reel a fish in I received more enjoyment for watching others reel in theirs.
To Nate, thank you for the lunch time conversation and the wealth of knowledge you gave to me in our conversation.
To Boog, thanks for rallying the troops and working with randy and nate to get this thing going.
To the rest, thanks for your hospitality. I know that a lot of you guys fish together often and have a special bond already. But the way you guys opened up to us outsiders and made us fill right at home was great.
And last to James, Thanks for putting together a web site that has brought together so many people with the same interest. I was in the military and we had a special brotherhood, but these guys on this site are just the same. they opened up there homes( boats) and play books for all of us to use in the future.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who was involved.

Well its been awhile since we have had any conversation about the salmon get together. I think we need to get some more chatter going. I just spoke Via e-mail with Tim M AKA flatfish about getting a hotel room. so I think we are set with boat seat assignments and hotel.

The next thing I would like to ask some of the regular guys going down. what would be some good spoons , j-plug and fly’s to pick to supplement what tackle we/ I already have. any suggestion would help.

Lets get some talking going on out there.

Joel if one of the seats is still open I will take one? I got permission from my first mate and she said to get out of her hair for a week-end. so I am on board. If you seats are taken them I will keep my name in the hat for another open seat. Thanks for putting this thing together. Let me know if you need to do any thing. On a side note I will be coming from the twin cities so if there are people that want to car pool down for the week end I can drive. And as far as getting rooms if there are people that want double on rooms I up for that also. Thanks

I would be interested in joining the group. I have tried about 3 years ago to fish out of the harbor but was not that successful. real windy , and didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I would most likely need to boat up with some one. please keep me informed if it’s a go. I do have some trolling gear but limited. I do also have a boat it’s small 16.5 alumacraft Magnum with a 50 on it.

I grew up on a farm and everyone on here makes a good point. First off its not all in the bread of the bovine it’s in the animal. Cows and bulls are not raised so much for their prime cuts of beef. Steers are because no testosterone due to castration. The meats in a milk breed will not marble as much as in a beef breed. The most important things are how the cattle were fed and how it was finished off. There is an art to making sure you cattle has the right amounts of protein in it diet. If the cattle was finished on grain I.e. corn and beans and had a supplement you should have a good quality meat. One other factor is how the animal is slaughter. if it is chased around a pen before being shot then there is more blood and rushing through the muscle and the meat could be tougher. I am not saying you would not get a cut of meat but a beef breed is bread to come out with the best meat. Just my input.

As a Veterans Service Officer and a former Paratrooper with the 82Nd Airborne Division (All The Way) I would like to way in on our youth of today and taking your cover off. It first of all starts with your parents and teaching you respect and patriotism. Since 9/11 we have had over 1 million of our nations youth sign up for the military serve, in combat zones, come back home safe just to do it all over again. Yes they did it all for you yes BK even guys like you. We have an all volunteer military these kids were not forced in to it. This is the first time in our nations history that we went to war and people volunteered to go. So Don’t look down on our youth pat them on the back. It’s the 99% of our youth we need to get to.

Yes BK WE have fought for freedoms so you can do what ever you want in this great nation. Our for father have done the same we had people coming home from Vietnam who were degraded in every manner imaginable but they still hold there head high today. They are the first ones to take there hat off, they are the first ones to open the door for a lady they are the ones they put together the ceremonies for our returning men and women, they are the first ones to stand up for our freedoms. They are the ones following the funeral procession’s of our fallen on their motorcycles and holding the American flags to protect the family’s of the fallen against the protesters.

This is my two cents . If we all come together and support our nation it’s military and the flag they protect and teach our youth about respect and the history of our nation we would be better off. The bottom line is lets just show some respect to our nation wither it’s a patriotic song the rising and lowering of the flag or our military. We know what is right and don’t let you ego get in the way. Just because you can leave your hat on doesn’t mean you have to.

i have an Alumacraft 165 Magnum and have a similar issue. i have no true dry storage in my boaut so if i am out in the rain and the boat get wet or i leave it at the dock over night every thing gets wet. What i do is buy the DAMP RID moister control . i have a container of it in all my storgae area. i also put a nylon over it in case it tips over. workds well for me

Another thing that would be nice is if the DNR would build docks off to the side of the ramp to tie your boat up to whioe you go get your trailer. I feel like a when i have to tie my boat to the end of the ramp dock and run to get my trailer. i fish by myself most of the time. on a lot of the ramps there is not a place to pull up on shore to jump out and tie up to. What do ya do?

When it was rigged up they rigged the unit to the light switch so i am assuming that both the unit and puck is rigged to the same switch

You guys that are only paying $1000 a month for day care are getting off easy. Last year it was a little over $23,000 for two kids 2 and 4. Can’t wait until they get into school. What i will really hate to buy is health care for lazy / illegal people.

i picked one up this year for the family also. I have never played much in the realm of video games except for PONG when i was a kid. We wanted this one because it is interactive. and the kids will have to move instead of sittting on the couch. Would i be pushing it if i bought the wife the the Wii FIT or is that like a gym membership . All in all i think it will be great for the kids and me this winter.

Maybe you misunderstood what i was tring to say. I am saying just the oppesit. I would never expect some one to pay for the tire. as i would not expect them to pay if i was going out fishing anyway.
