Heading up for a day trip this Saturday. Planning to take out the father in law and future brother in law.

Has the bite still been slow with this heat the past handful of days? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Just got off the phone with Minn Kota. Since my Ulterra came with the ‘normal’ bluetooth i-Pilot remote, then my Ulterra is not LINK compatible.

The way the Tech told me to check is to look at the motor head unit. Mine does NOT say i-Pilot LINK, just i-Pilot.

Maybe this was obvious to everyone else, but for me being new to this, it was a lesson learned.

    Hello Guys,

I have a brand new Ulterra that came with the bluetooth i-Pilot remote. I have a buddy that gave me an i-Pilot link remote to try and I can’t get it to pair to the motor. I hold down the pair button on the motor head and hear the long constant beep, then go to the remote and hit pair. After about 10 seconds, it says no motor detected.

I have Garmin graphs, but was thinking that shouldn’t matter?

Are there bluetooth and non-bluetooth i-Pilot link remotes?

    Thanks Jon.

Is Insight the only one compatible with Lowrance? I don’t need anything fancy, just enough to show me the bars and 3’contours would be fine.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Pick her up on 12/12…I posted a pic of her in Dogs of IDO thread if you wanna peek.

The wife and I kind of like the name Luna, but I still think I might wait until I’ve had her for a day or two to figure out her personality before I title her.

Put deposit on her yesterday, picking up in 1.5 weeks! Not enough time to lock down a name though.

I do like the name Teal as I am a bigger duck hunter and that will be her main objective.

I have not had any time with the dog yet, so I think that would also be a good idea to spend some time with her.

Also, my father’s and brother-in-law’s dogs are named Bristol and Tallie (short for Talladega) so I would prefer something that doesn’t sound too similar to those.

Thanks for the comments so far, keep them coming!

My dad’s and brother-in-law’s dogs were both trained through Dokken and being that I will hunt 90% of the time with one of them two, I think it would be easier if the dogs all understand same commands that have same meaning.

(Opinions on this train of thought are encouraged)

At the very least I am trying bring the pup home around the time the snow is done accumulating in order to make house breaking more comfortable and in order to spend as much outside time with her as possible.

Would those of you who have brought home pup in middle of winter wish you would have waited for less/no snow?

Thanks again for all comments and suggestions!

I like the idea of spreading the harvest over wider slot lengths. Can’t keep pounding on the same year class!

Agreed. What about also changing when the netting is allowed by the tribal community? Could it be done later in the season, instead of when the females are spawning?

Arrow case was what I used to use. $20-30 if i remember correctly. Some get brittle in sub zero temps.

I used to use an arrow hard case like this and yes, they are brittle when it becomes sub-zero and I had to collapse my reel every time I put my rod in the case. My buddy was looking at a small gun case that is used for break down guns and there was not enough room to keep from having to collapse reels again. Granted that could be just the version he was looking at but he purchased a case made for ice fishing rods and I convinced him it is worth the extra money if you have you expensive rods in there.

Joes may still have some in stock. Otherwise depending on which way you travel to Mille Lacs, several bait shops on the way up. Prince bait in Milaca or Lundeens in Onamia should have some.

    Ah! Thanks for the help!

Does anybody on the eastern side of the TC know who may have some spoons in stock? Checked Maplewood Fleet Farm last night and if they had them, there is no sign of any left. Heading to the pond this weekend and want to give them a shot. PMs welcome.

Yeah, it depends on the size of your compartments in your tackle box and how many assortments of size and color you have. For my open water river plastics I just have a large wide open box with many ziploc bags stuffed in there.

I usually store my plastics in ziploc bags

I use Trilene 100% Flurocarbon Ice line clear and I just ordered two Eagle Claw Inline Reels (like fly reels) because even though it is basically invisible in the water, it is notorious for coiling & twisting with small spools. Don’t know if this helps or not, but I thought I would mention what my setup consists of.

I guess I was just hoping that one of the many sporting goods stores in my area had one in stock I could pick up. Since I am planning on going out all weekend and also because I’m impatient.

Looks like they are all out of stock online!

And I just came back from the local FF and they don’t have any hard cases what-so-ever! x2

FYI the otter is on sale at fleet farm for $65.00, looks like theres free shipping on fishing gear if you cant get to the store.

Is it in-store only? I can’t even find the Otter case listed on the FF website.

Say Bee, how did the reel hold up during the fight with that bass? I have heard that these reels are of plastic construction and I was hoping to put one on a panfish rig and another on a walleye rig. Would you feel confident running #6 on a medium heavy action for jigging spoons? Last thing I want to happen is lose a nice fish because my reel malfunctioned/broke.

    Thanks in advance!

Found ’em!! Right here and also here.

The only bummer is that they are ONLY in combo not just the reels. But if they are what others are saying, they are well worth it not even knowing the quality of the rod.

I went ahead and ordered two just to be safe.

I am having one heck of a time finding these reels! Can anyone help me out? I can’t afford a BB 6061 and I have checked online and nowhere are these EC reels mentioned anywhere, other than IDO. PMs would be appreciated!

I purchased the Cabela’s Guidewear Gore-Tex Ice Angler bibs in XL Regular last year and absolutely love them! 150 gram Thinsulate and have removable knee pads. Just picked up the matching parka last week. Right now they are on sale. I’m 6’0″ 250 as well and with warmer boots with the thick soles they fit like a dream!

The old man goes up every Memorial and family goes for a week every year at Beckers. All dock slips are big/deep enough for any boat.
