I fished all over for smallmouth today and couldent get a fish over 10″, i fish the croix quite a bit for smallies but today i was lost i threw jigs tubes senkos cranks topwater, it feelt like my first timetable
Gobys are a small look minnow type fish with a big head and small body they are a brownish in color and they can swim far off the bottom dont worry u will prob catch one, and look out for sheep head to there is some monsters out there
I fish a lot around thows marker bouys not only do they mark the weeds but some of them have a lot of rocks mixed in them c-rig and jig and crankbaits work good to,and deep docks with senkos
You might have better luck with a spinner bait or a chatter bait but a red eye shad or a strike king 1.5 works good just remeber the heavier the line the shallower it will run.
I like to use 15 pound red label floro as my main line then, then depending on what the water is like i use a 12 or 15 pound leader with either a 1/2 or 3/4 oz tungsten weight, i use that on a 7’2 rod, i have had luck on tubes, senkos, lizards, and sweet beavers
What helped me the most when i started was a 7ft spinning rod with 10 pound braid and a 3 foot chunk of 10 floro leader, the braid helped so i could see my slack when i fishet my fluke, just remember the more slack you have the farther the fluke with go left to right with each jerk of the rod just remeber to reel in some slack befor you set the hook, good luck
I love useing the zell poper it u can walk the dog and chug it at the same time, and a chug bug for a diff chug sound, they work for largmouth and smallys
Haha no bulls**t, i swear, i will post our tournament result when we get them on the web sight, i was using a 1/4 ounce tube jig with a 3 1/2 inch black neon tube, i will bring u a to the spot
You can send me the 20$ haha, me and my buddy crushed the smallys on thur we were fishing the main lake just south of the yellow we were skipping 3 1/2 black neon tubs under docks our biggest was a 4 1/2 pounder fun day 40+ fish
