I was blown away by the selection at Scheels when I was in Bismark a week ago. Not sure if one is near you but they had at least 6 brands and variations with each and prices high and low.

    had about 4 or so

I would at least take a look at FX Custom Rods, specifically their new line called Xtreme Angler series. These rods feel every bit as good as my St. Croix Legend Tournament rods and only cost between $129-134.00. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how well they perform.

I got one it’s a great rod im using it for cranks and bottom bouncing

i suggest a carolina rig or a dork rig basically the same damn thing
its a egg sinkeer to a barrel swivel with a leader and a hook your choice of bait
maybe try a spinner bait with a cast and retrieve motion i know they are cheap and can cast a ways

    BUT
my best advice is you half to get used to loosing tackle on the river and on the dams its just fishing for ya

I had a friend do the NWT a couple of years ago and he made it sound like they draw each day on what pro you are going to be with.

thats what they do but in order to guarantee your spot you must sign with pro

Keep the V2 replace the head with an ipilot system for $500. Local marina can probably order and switch it out for the best price.

When you convert a Powerdrive to ipilot, you lose the foot pedal, so not a good option if you cast shorelines. If all you do is troll with it, conversion would be the cheapest solution.

I do a lot of both honestly but can control the boat with remote
