Bring your boots and launch in the marina on the north side of the tracks.

I can add the gate is still closed at the Peterson Lake access and the water is below the road going to Wilcox.

If your willing to back up in water and have hip boots you can use the Peterson Lake access.

Sounds like I ought to get a couple for Loozy. Is it light?

I’d say yes and it is light for a long rod.

John, I got one from Turk a couple years ago and never use it… Thought of it as a rigging rod…hmmmmmm
actually have it for sale way cheap on the classifieds…Better rethink that!!!

    Tom,

Give it a try…I’ve got mine down here in AL to use for live baiting (did I say that) it has the right action and fits in the car.

    Tom,

I’m using a Limit Creek LCSE83MLF riggin rod. I like it’s 8 ft plus lenght and it’s colapsible so it fits in the rod box.

It was the last time I drove by. I suspect this cold snap will freeze it over for a while.

    Tom,

You have to add a StCroix AVS68MXF with 8 lb mono for a 1/4 jig head and 4-5″ K-grub. Fluoro would be great but can be to stiff in cold water.

I’m not fishing this year but from driving around I’m not seeing any activity on the dike road. Most of the cars are at Wilcox or the finger lakes below Peterson Lake. I haven’t been there for a week but there were a lot of guys on the bottom end of pool 5 in the Spring Lake area. That on the WI side. In all cases expect a long walk.

Interesting! I’ve been fishing money circuits since the late 70’s and a lot of circuits have come and gone. My take is guys are enthusiast at the beginning, but as the better teams and fisherman rise to the top, more guys feel they can’t compete and drop out. It’s just a numbers game. I’ve been on both sides and I can understand. I guess if you don’t improve along the way it is hard to justify shelling out the entree fees.
The granddaddy of the local circuits is Denny’s. It’s a good circuit but I’m not sure why he has survived so long. Somehow he has a loyal following.
My tournament attitude has chance a lot over the years, and now I’m just sticking close to home. Running all over the state just doesn’t appeal anymore.

    Brian,

Check the In-Fisherman archives. They did an article several years ago. I don’t remember much other than they are almost dormant in warm water.

    Brett,

I feel you pain…but, you’re not getting any sympathy…nor will I. I’ve been off the Water (liquid or solid) since November 11 and probably won’t until spring. I had shoulder surgery and I don’t want to mess it up till everything is healed completely. That’s my choice, but I’m BOARDED TO DEATH!
