I guess we were going to launch there just out of familiarity. Also it seems like a quick boat ride to our resort (Cedar Ridge). Thanks for the feedback.
June 9, 2017 at 12:32 pm #1698346Thanks for the tips. In case anyone has this question in the future I thought I’d mention you can use either a WI or MN license as long as you don’t go past the train tracks on either the MN or WI side. Maps make it appear like you would have to go very far back to reach that point.
April 25, 2015 at 1:31 pm #1537883Just picked up an Avid X today and paired with Shimano Saros. Glad the heat the reviews are good. If you want this Rod go to Thorne Brothers this weekend! 20% of off both! Makes the Avid $160.
April 19, 2015 at 3:04 pm #1535822I did not check the gap when I installed the new plugs. I will definitely do that. I followed the fuel line to make sure it was connected and the bulb seems to hold.
The tank is part of the boat (2006). It worked great the first time I took it out on pool 2. Fired right away and idled great. I bought it from a dealer and they said they would look at it again, but they’re a couple hours away.
April 19, 2015 at 1:27 pm #1535801Thanks. I did check the kill switch as I’ve made that mistake myself. It came with a full tank of gas, but maybe it was stored that way? Should I add a fuel stabilizer?
I originally was worried about flooding it, but I absolutely could not get it started until I opened the throttle all the way.
April 10, 2015 at 8:28 pm #153335806 with a 90 horse two stroke. I have young kids and am a weekend fishermen so the price point is what attracts me. When I have more time, I’d upgrade. I’m not one to spend the same amount of money for a Lund that is 8-10 years older.
April 9, 2015 at 8:46 pm #1532902Picking up my second Tracker tomorrow. Had a Pro guide V-16 that was a good starter boat 7 years ago. Now moving into the V-175. For me the price point made the difference. I would have a lower model boat in another brand for what I am spending.
April 5, 2015 at 10:39 am #1531033Thanks guys. I appreciate the insight. Where is the best place to launch to fish the NE part of the lake? I was planning on launching down by lake Chippewa. I guess it would be about 4-5 miles to get up there, which would be a problem. Maybe we’ll fish our way up through Cranberry Lake.
I’m a very amateur fisherman but the other guys are newbies. Just catching anything will make it an awesome time.
March 31, 2015 at 7:54 pm #1529443Thanks for all the advice. Since my trolling motor runs a 12v I went with the Minnkota 106D single bank (6amp) from ebay for $77. When we head out for multiple day trips (couple times a year) i’ll throw a 10 amp on after the day is over.
March 30, 2015 at 7:55 pm #1529064Good going Dave. Most people don’t know you pay a fee for a biweekly program. That and the bank holds half a payment for 6 months before they apply to the principle. Just pay extra now.
Finding a good FA is tough if you don’t have a lot of money to invest. Id look at Edward Jones or Metlife as they don’t require your net worth to be as high as say Merril Lynch.
March 30, 2015 at 7:38 pm #1529062For example, Cabelas has the Minnkota MK-210D for $150 with a $30 gift card. It says 5 amps per bank. Should I just get this sucker and call it a day?
March 30, 2015 at 7:27 pm #1529061Thanks. So should I be focusing on 10 amp chargers? The one bank onboards ive been looking at are 6 or 8 amp….
March 23, 2015 at 7:36 am #1526111Thanks for the input. The list has grown quite a bit!
I think I only need a 2 bank charger as it came with a 40lb thrust trolling motor that I plan to swap out for a 55lb.
As far as a water separator, I have to be honest, I haven’t heard of this before. How could I tell if it has one, and is it easy for me to install myself?
Thanks again.
September 13, 2013 at 1:20 pm #1194714Hey everyone. I know this is an older thread but we’d like to see if anyone guides on Winter. We will be there the second weekend of October and would like to make a run at some fall Muskies. Thanks in advance.
February 26, 2010 at 3:21 pm #846612Oh it must have been the wrong map!
You ever fish on Lake Winter? We’re trying to decide if the action will be better on a different lake, or if we should just stay by the cabin. Winter claims to have No pike, but I seem to catch them every summer.
February 25, 2010 at 3:58 pm #846133Thanks a lot Tanner. I looked up a lake map of Barber and it looks like the deepest part is 12-10 ft. Seems to be relatively close to our cabin. We really only have one day for serious fishing so thans a bunch for the advice!
February 24, 2010 at 5:27 pm #845716Thanks for the tip. That sounds like a lot of Fun. Looks like it is about 52 miles from Winter… I’ll let ya know if we check it out!
February 6, 2009 at 7:44 pm #745453Thanks for the tip.
Catchsum- you need to read his quote. Got plans with your girlfriend you gotta break so you can come out!
June 24, 2008 at 10:46 pm #694938Was on Waconia today and it was really slow. We only got one bass in the boat off of the rock levy. We tried different depths, baits, and locations with hardly anything to show for it.
Funny story though, I spotted a bass in the shallows and threw a bomber crank bait at it. It swimmed away but a 12lbs carp took notice and went after the bait. He hit it and it was a fun 5 mins landing him. Kinda strange though.
May 30, 2008 at 2:47 pm #689048Looks like my step dad wouldn’t want to join the tounry, although we might see you guys out there as we do some casual fishing.
May 29, 2008 at 6:05 pm #688802This may sound dumb, but i’m kinda new to the fishing culture here, but is it too late to join?
May 29, 2008 at 3:58 pm #688769What day(s) is the classic? I was hopin to take my step dad out for some bassin this weekend.
