Dude, you duck hunt every day and ice fish 5 nights a week, and have a family like that?

Who cares about how many ducks you get, you need a reality check man, ’cause you have it made and don’t even know it.

I think you are all a bunch of wieners. Due to carrer demands, I have fished the river once in ’07. Not good since I have a place right on 9! And the one time I did get out, 12 hours of fishing yielded zero walleyes! So much for scouting!

So keep it in perspective guys, at least you are on the river! How can you all whine about anything at all!

Good luck this year, what’s left of it.

I’m not sure where in WI you are at, but the gun club I shoot at near Milwaukee has it. Call them at camocarpet, they have distributors, but I’m not sure what if anything they will have in stock.

    I get mine from http://www.camocarpet.com

Area rugs or carpet tiles. Good quality stuff and easy to install yourself. Quick shipping also.

Ummmm, hate to wreck your day fellas but I believe that is currently law, as well as NO interest loans for Illegal aliens in the state of WI. They have some nice homes around me, and I rent a crappy 1 bedroom apt.

Not 100% sure about this, but I listen to 620 WTMJ everyday and they were talking about this crap like it was fact, and currently going on. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong.

OK, so to continue my neophyte river trolling questions, I would assume you were using a 3-way? Even with powerpro and a shad rap, it’s hard to get 12 to 14 feet down. What size weight for the 3 -way? 1 oz?

Thanks again. Think I’m headed back to pool 9 this weekend for more torture.

Hey I’m here! Scratched off alot of bad water sunday in southern Richland county, but did find a 14 rainbow exploring a little. That’s 2 rainbows this year, never caught them before in streams that are not cat. 5 C&R only. weird. I love trout fishing this time of year, no crowds! Bring on the weeds and bugs. Takes a few days to stop scratching though!

Good info again. Thanks guys. So I take it when water levels are low, the fish just plain spread out, and current breaks like wingdams are not as important. Do they move around along the channel edges or running sloughs? If the water levels and current come back up, i.e. heavy rains, I would assume wing dams become more attractive??

How about the channels from Ferryville south to the dam? Are fish down there? I have caught them there in the past, but not this year. Do they hang out in the weeds?

    Thanks again.

Well guys, I spent all day saturday fishing wingdams on pool 9. From Lansing to De Soto, my buddy and I must have hit 9 or 10 of them. We trolled, which did take some practice but not to bad when I applied the lessons learned from here. We anchored, and fished with cranks, crawlers, jigs, minnows and willowcats. We fished the tips and washout holes, the middle, and the near shore ends, and even on top.

Total score: 0 walleyes, 0 bluegills, 3 sheepies, 4 small bass.

Even tried trolling the channels by ferryville…..nothing. I’m having a horrible year here, time to go back and start fishing Lake Michigan again .

Oh well, thats fishing. Thanks for all the help. I will be back next weekend for more punishment. Although trout streams would probably be better than the old big muddy skunk again!

Thanks for the replies gents. I hope to be sitting on a wingdam by 5:30 am tomorrow on pool 9. I will probably anchor and cast at first, but as my year has been going, I’m sure I will be moving around quickly looking for a %$@& walleye. I have had poor fishing on 9 this year, and I know it’s just me. Even a bluegill would be nice!

    Thanks again!

OK, I need some serious help. I fished pool 9 all day saturday. My friend from N.C. and I fished wingdams around Lansing, a couple running sloughs, and the channels by ferryville. Not one single Walleye was boated. We tried trolling, casting and Jigging. Cranks, spinner rigs, crawlers, jigs and plastic, no walleyes. Anyone willing to help a brother out?? Is there a good pool 9 guide out there? I won’t be out there for a while but I’m curious to see what I was doing wrong, which this year seems to be everything!!

For once I completely agree with Slop. This is just one area of apocolypse type fishing pressure in the great state of WI. I’m not sure about a size limit however. Get your 10 and head out. I’d rather have someone leave with ten good eater fish and maybe leave a few of the very large ones to continue to swim. It might to into a real cull fest for the legally challenged though. hmmmm.

What scares me is this is supposed to be the first year of retiring baby boomers. Good for them, they deserve it but…..used to be the fish would get a little break during the week. Grandma and Grandpa are going to do alot of fishing I think. It will be interesting to see how the resource holds up for the next 10 years.

    Happy new years all.

I agree with matz, give N, S, E or W. Otherwise, whats the point? I don’t think you will be giving away any spots, along with guns or shells. Give me a break.

It’s a great time. I have been on several western Texas quail hunts. You will see plenty of bobs but mostly blues, or scaled quail. They don’t hold as well as bobs, and tend to run ahead more. You will see incredible coveys, over 40 birds in some. Beautiful birds, I have a bob-blue hybrid at the taxidermist now.

Enjoy the fabulous food and chilled tequila after the hunt! You’ll need it, those shin-oaks can wear you out.

    Seriously?

With all the $#^% that is going to be going on down there, namely everyone without homes and jobs, you are posting this, worried about fishing a tourny?

Sorry for the rip, but this seems in poor taste.

    Good luck though.

Why was it dangerous? The guy is idling and two boats fly by him under full power, barely a boat length away? Not much room for error if the idling fellow had made a quick turn. Or if he was fishing, someone was in the water, etc.

I don’t know about you guys being first on the water…..but I do agree with you guys being in and out of the water quick. This problem is only going to get worse though.

I have to admit limiting tournaments sounds good to me, as it probably does to professional individuals like myself, who have limited opportunities to recreate. Going to packed launches on tournament weekends have maxed out my patience, and force me and people like me to vote against them. That is the only problem I have with tournament fishing. Any solutions to that?

Flame suit on, I’ll need it with all the pros on this board!!

Holy crap guys read all the plans! There is one very restrictive proposal but there is also one that opens up the river for darn near everything. Go to the meetings but don’t have a coronary just yet, there are 4 proposals for pete’s sake!

Thanks Len. I’m on a mission to find fish away from the dams. I think that there has to be some spawning that goes on in the lower half of good ole’ Lake Weed-a-check! Hopefully make it out to the cabin in the near future, see ya then.

Anyone know how the channel is looking above the dam at Lynxville? Breaking up at all? I have no interest in fishing the aluminum hatch.

Face it folks, 99% of the rediculous #’s of the boats out there in the spring are keeping about every legal fish they get until they have reached the limit. That is a fact.

I have boycotted the dams. No way will I fish the pack, that is not my idea of fun nor is it any type of outdoor experience. There are actually lots of fish nowhere near the dams.

Point is, all that aluminum out there is keeping fish, and lots of them. Why argue. I’ll see ya about 10 miles downstream.
