Couple miles east of Mille Lacs.

Yup, very hard to compare the 2 areas the same. I completely agree with the assessment that way.

Exactly. That makes an area hard to manage evenly as well. Other years when some areas had alot of deer, they had 5 deer limits but around here that wasn’t necessarily warranted. Some hunters don’t pay attention or care about local population and if they can shoot 5 they do. Next thing you know there aren’t many around.

I hunt 155 just across the road from 157. Fairly low numbers in this area, saw a glimpse of 1 deer so far. I guess I wouldn’t say 157 has huge numbers up this way but it’s a large area.

Where abouts in 157 ? I hunt west of pine and numbers are definitely strong. Seen more deer this year then I have in the years past. That’s hunting both my brothers place along the snake and 2 different areas of public. The neighboring land owners were saying they have more quality bucks and high population of resident doe which is on par for what I’ve seen on camera at my brother’s.

Honda, Honda, Honda! Stay away from the Rincon though. That is the one model that has issues.

Thanks for the Rincon info. I have seen a few of those and wondered how they are. I do know of the Hobda reliability, just not sure about plowing with the 420.

I’m currently in the market for a used wheeler. I’m just wondering what everyone’s opinions are on some of the models I’ve seen since I’ve been out of the loop on wheelers for some time. I’m in the 5-6ish thousand range. Suzuki King Quads,Brute Force,Grizzly etc..I’m not brand loyal. Mostly used around my property, snow plowing etc..but still able to provide a little fun factor if I go for a rip.

If you find a used Yamaha/Honda in the 4-5k range that isn’t 25 years old or completely beat on, shoot me a PM with the address and attached number. I’ll go check it out for you to be sure it’s all on the up and up waytogo

Is there certain years of Acadias to stay away from or all years have issues? We are starting to shop a little for my wife and that is a model I am looking at.

The earlier years had various issues with cam shafts and some transmission wave plates or something. They have been much better since about 2014. We had a 2010 Outlook essentially the same thing. Was a good vehicle for us, but the cats were causing dash lights to come on near the end. Lots of trouble with headlight wiring harness issues though.

Thanks for the info. I was kinda thinking the older ones had more issues, as a friend had an older traverse that had some problems.

Personally looking at that pic your gain is way too high. The Marcums have much finer lines on the display than a Vex so if you are expecting to have the big blobs like that then turn the gain up like you have, but that is a complete waste.
Lower your lure into the water and adjust the gain so it is displayed as the weakest signal possible. You should not have thick lines like that. I never have my gain higher than 2.

Thanks for the input, ill have to try it again but I don’t think the lure hardly showed up with the gain on 2.

I have the same Marcum and used to have the Vex. It took me a bit of an adjustment to figure out the gain etc. Once you get used to it all will be fine. I actually have my Marcum in getting fixed now and back to the old Vex. I noticed that it IS easier to see the bottom and jigs etc, but the Marcum shows better separation, so with the Marcum I see two separate lines for two fish, the Vex would show one bigger mark – hence easier to see, but not as accurate. Same is true with the bottom, I see more stuff on the bottom with my Marcum, but a better solid line with the Vex – details I guess.

I get what you’re saying, im just wondering what its going to be like fishing in 20-30ft of water if I have to have the gain up this high in 9ft.

The “TC” was the True Color upgrade. Initially when the LX3 first came out it was only 2 colors. The TC upgrade (and all the newer units) have 3 colors green, yellow/orange and red.
I would guess its the transducer if you are using a verified good new battery and its fully charged. If you turn the unit on you should hear it clicking quite loud and be able to actually feel it in your hand if you place it in your hand.

The battery tested at 12.5volts when we got home yesterday. The transducer does click very loud when out of the water.

Well, the response from Norsk said to run it down and recharge to reset the meter on top of the battery so we’ll see if that works.

I picked up a large from Facebook Marketplace a couple weeks ago, I certainly don’t see them used for sale a ton.

Great to see you guys out on the ice again.

Ice Defense, Is that new? How well does it work at ‘0’, and on the battery?

I like the no trip door on the Eskimo. Anyone want to buy an Otter resort hub?

Otter resort hub you say…. wink
