A spacer was my first thought too. But when I got the three inch shells this season I thought that would solve the problem because they are a very nice fit in the mag… But it still happens.

I’ve experienced the same problem. It appears that the recoil causes the shells in the magazine to slide forward and in the process the bottom one slides further forward so that the ring gets in front of the ring of the top shell. Once this happens there is no way it can be fed into the action because the protruding ring of the top shell gets caught on the ring of the lower one. At first I thought this was because the magazine is big enough for 3″ shells which means 2 3/4″ shells have more room to slide forward. But today I tried it with 3″ shells, and the exact same thing happened. The only solution I know of is to only put 1 shell in the magazine. That really isn’t a solution! This problem is well documented on the web and I have yet to find any good solutions. I’ve wondered if a stronger spring in the magazine might work, exerting more upward force on the shell and thus preventing it from sliding forward, but I haven’t tried it or read of anyone else trying it.
