I say shut it down from December 1- May 1. This will give the fish a chance to spawn and get some fish back in the system(saugers).

I think Marcum should fix the problem with some of the lx-7’s that are out there. Some part in this machine is causing some or most of the problem. Some of the lx-7’s have worked great right from the get-go…a lot of others haven’t. So if the units are made the same and one has issues while others are not, find and fix the problem instead of writing programs to cover up. Now you got people down loading these fix’s on perfectly working units and screwing them up. You have to explain to the public that the d/l is a fix not some magical upgrade. This could end in a disaster…it has already started.
Im on Marcums side but they have to stop…and start over.January 19, 2014 at 8:03 am #1380847Kevin, take this from a guy whos done this type of fishing on the Mississippi River for 30 years, nothing wrong with your equipment….it takes a whole new mind set on setting the hook! I’m sure when these shallow water crappies are hitting it is hard…first reaction is to set the hook as hard as they hit..results in banging them off the ice and loosing them. When they hit, snap set the hook set then stop any upward movement, keeping pressure on the fish slowly pull them through the hole. Greatest invention for this… the pulsator fishing pole. The depth your fishing is the funniest crappie fishing you will ever have!
December 28, 2013 at 7:15 pm #1374727Kevin, I don’t clear the snow off the ice and leave slush in the holes. This helps with the light and the bite.
November 25, 2013 at 12:39 pm #1366542This would be Iowa/Wisconsin back waters. It was explain to me long ago, water between the tracks – Wisconsin and Iowa or Wisconsin and Minnesota (border waters)the laws were the same except for possession limits.
October 1, 2013 at 10:58 pm #1197920First off that is a sauger….and there is no way….I believe that the shad came out of a limit of walleye/sauger…but in that picture theres more shad than fish! oh Brian
August 8, 2013 at 2:02 am #1188434One other thing to check is the coolant sensor in the intake. Unplug the sensor and look for corrosion… greenish or just rusted bad. If this is the case replace both the connector and coolant sensor. This will tell the powertrain control module its -39 or 40 degrees and will dump as much fuel as it can. This coolant sensor is not the same one for the temp. gauge… that one is in the drivers side head.
Good LuckMarch 10, 2013 at 4:20 pm #1118338Dave, how much ice did ya have? Good job on staying on the fish!!
January 15, 2013 at 1:29 am #1130760Some of you running 10,000-15,000 miles on oil changes take it to your technician and have them pull a valve cover off…. the old saying is its yours, you can do what you want!

August 15, 2012 at 12:41 am #1092156depends on whats causing it… valves, head gasket, rings even flat lobe on cam shaft. But check compression first, check another cylinder thats running right to get an idea of what compression its supposed to have. If ya got spark and compression it needs gas…to fire.
August 15, 2012 at 12:18 am #1092149If you got spark in that cylinder…I would take a compression check on that cylinder. If that was fine since you replaced all the ignition side of it on that cylinder I be quessing an injector went bad. O2 sensor should create missfires on all cylinders on that bank….
July 13, 2012 at 4:12 pm #1083826Hop I would ask that dealer if they have any service records on it, then see if the mileage differs. Then ask if the cluster was changed… you have to program the mileage and hours….if they were being “sneaky” they could of programmed the right hours and “fixed” the mileage….good luck
January 19, 2012 at 11:53 pm #1030205Loomis is all over this….it is the intake. Cant be running that great with miss fires and fuel mileage is suffering. If it was an o2 sensor it should have a code for something like low voltage or insufficient switching for that 02 sensor. Get it fixed it will only get worse specially the colder it gets…
October 19, 2011 at 9:52 pm #1002700My guess is it has throttle body codes….clean the throttle body around the throttle plate and try it.Also check the wires going to it, have seen them break at the connector…slight pull to each one(wire) will usually find it.
September 22, 2011 at 7:43 pm #996679Chappy is the check engine light on? If so it will not work while that light is on. Also the brake switch could be showing the brake pedal depressed(on) with out the brake lights being on or pedal being pushed…..just a few for thought!
June 7, 2011 at 12:35 am #971392I started a war… my opinion was that Cabelas was sponsering this and Minnesota Dnr was allowing this! Hell I’m from Iowa…my license (minn) only allows me 6 fish total(which is plenty) I’m not sure how many anglers weighed more than 6… dont care. My opinion is that I had walleyes in my boat all day with no problem with water temp where I was fishing 66-68. With that temp those walleyes would of been fine for day for releasing.
I’m not mad at all at any angler for fishing this…if I had a real boat I also would of been fishing it. Some try and make a living doing this and I’m jealousSorry James to create havoc on your website..my original post was me saying the Tournament director, Cablelas, and the MDNR need there kicked in a long about way without me saying it!
Hats of to Justin for 4th place!
June 2, 2011 at 1:11 am #970385Tom Bartholomew, he drove my brothers car for years. We had it won also in 1989(i believe) but cut a tire in turn two on the final lap leading….Kevin Pitman won it that year.
April 13, 2011 at 10:11 pm #956913How are the rotors? Alot of rotors these days are solid rust….putting brake pads on them is bad due to the rust will act like sand paper and grind the pad material off quickly. Just one thought, could be calipers, caliper slides or even restricted brake hoses.

I would like to see a closed season on P4,say March 1st to April 15th.Then the spawning females wouldn’t get all stressed out.
I second this all the way! Not only for pool 4 but all pools!
