I have Boat EFX on my Ranger 621 and love them. Mine are about 6 years old and have the gritty sandpaper traction on the steps, a buddy of mine got them this year and they have an aqua traction type material on the steps and that is really nice.

For the biting flies, I go to Runnings or Tractor Supply and get horse fly spray and spray it on the inside of the boat. This helps a ton.

Did you have any of the issues that plagued the 8spd? Like not going into 8th gear? Just curious. I never had one myself.

Not that I was ever aware of. I still have the truck but my son drives it and if the boat is pulled, the 3.0 does the pulling now. Just got back from a 1000 mile each way trip to lake Erie and it averaged 13.9 for the trip pulling a 621. I have 3 friends that made the same trip with same boats but they have the 2500 diesel’s and they all averaged around 11-12. I will take it!

I had a 2017 Chevy with the 6.2 in it and absolutely loved it. Good power both empty and pulling my 621. Mileage was around 8-10 pulling at 65-70 mph, you get above that and it was bad.

Granted I have a 10 speed and yours was the 6. I was getting 16mpg pulling my 19′ boat at 74mph in cruise last summer and it never shifted. I was passing porsches on hwy 10.

My 17 had the 8 speed tranny in it. Still a great truck and I would buy another.

Both Ranger nets and Cummings nets have come out with a Rubber feeling net but it isn’t heavy. I have had one on my Beckman frame for 2 years and love them. They do break down after about 2 years of use, but the bags are relatively cheap at around $20 to replace.

I have always contemplated a diesel but didn’t want to give up the 1/2 ton ride and everything else that goes with that. I bought a ’23 3.0 a few months ago and cannot say enough good things about it. Still have the 1/2 ride and maneuverability in parking lots and tight spaces and the power towing at highway speeds is awesome. I love to set the cruise and forget it. I have around 15k on it now and 2k of that was towing the boat. The only dig I can say is when you are towing, it drinks the DEF like crazy. My son still has my 6.2 truck, because I couldn’t stand to get rid of it because it is an awesome truck, but for mileage in town and on the highway this duramax blows the 6.2 away.

purely a guess but by the looks of it and the motor it’s probably late 70s early 80s timeframe.

Can you find the VIN on the boat? That would help narrow down the year.

Dutch, I have had the “Big 2” Troll Master and ITroll for years. The ITroll is a very good unit but the troll master is not completely waterproof and therefor lots of problems 1 to 2 years into it(right after the warranty expires) or right after the first time you fish in the rain with it. A few years ago I stumbled on a guy that makes Troll Smarter and he is some guy that is a farmer and didn’t like the way his John Deere throttle works so he made his own speed system for it and it is exactly the same as the trolling one for the kicker. It is about 1/2 the cost as an ITroll and waterproof. I installed my first one by myself and it was a piece of cake and I am not mechanically gifted. On my last boat I had to purchase a kicker and just had them install it. The mechanic said the directions and things with it made it super simple. I believe he only sells them on Facebook, but if you have access to that I would vote for that. I think I am on year 4 with one of his units and it is fantastic.

I responded via the email notification I received but not sure if that goes directly to you or not. These are somewhat specific to each boat/trailer and are made out of Canada. This one was made for a 2016 Nitro ZV21 and I bought it thinking it would fit my 2018 Ranger 621. The angle of the brackets holding the nets are too vertical and they rub on my boat so it won’t work. THis boat flares out much more than my older Ranger did. It was suggested I could heat the aluminum supports and bend them out but that type of work isn’t up my ally, so I am just selling it. I have a guy that said he will take it but won’t be home from AZ for a few weeks yet. If he doesn’t take, I will reach out. thanks!

as previously said, they make the rails for the front of your boat but you could either mount a Ram arm to the floor of your bow and mount the pole there. I have ram rod holders mounted in the front of my boat and there is a ram mount that will fit into the rod holder and then on a ram arm to the summit pole. I can move this all over the boat, front or back just like lifting a rod holder out of the base. It works really good from slow moving up to pulling plugs at 3 mph.

If you go with the 32 or 34 Trandsducer, you have to get the “black box” to plug the transducer into and then a network cord(and of course have to buy an adapter) that will go from the black box to the back of the unit. That black box is $499 I believe from Garmin.

I just did what you are going to do and saved some money. Mostly because I already had a head unit of 93SV. I found a used 32 Transducer online and bought that and then got a new black box from Garmin and will be into everything way less than buying the full package, but did get lucky with Garmin having most of the parts in and available. The only thing I can see you “missing” and you may be referring to this already but you need a Network cable (from the black box to the back of the head unit) and also that adapter that goes on that cord to the back of the unit. Not sure if that is what you were referring to or were like me and forgot those 2 pieces. FWIW I do have a 32 transducer, brand new black box and all of the cords up for sale for $900 if interested. Just need to hook to the battery and the head unit.

A year and half ago I bought a boat with it on and for the first few months my response is “it’s cool but I wouldn’t go out and spend my own money to buy it had it not been on the boat”. Then I learned how to use it and what I was looking at. frustrating as heck to see all of the fish that you cast at(open water) and not catch. But it is a great tool for not only finding structure like weeds, timber and in our part of the world, sunken equipment. But just watching the fish react to your bait is a learning experience. I now have 3 units, one that was on the boat, I just built one for ice fishing and now have a transducer and black box to sell. I am sure it is/was like the depth finder and gps 30 years ago when everyone said it was too expensive and it would ruin fishing, but here we are and for most places the “good old days” are right now for the quality and quantity of fish.

I have broken my fair share of rods but I saw one last spring get broken that had me laugh and cry all at the same time. I live in a “lakes community” so lots of people come during the summer to enjoy the lakes and fish. A husband/wife were in line to pay and they were buying some pretty nice rods. The wife is playing around with the rod like a 5 year old and she raised it way up in the air and right into the ceiling fan. Snapped off the top 8-10 inches. The husband kept his cool much better than I would have in the same situation especially when it was a $200+ rod. Top it off is rods were in pretty high demand the spring of 2021 when everyone was buying fishing equipment.

I have a 28″ Fenwick Walleye Elite Tech that I use with those up on Winnepeg. They do work well for that.
