Two of us fished Sunday Monday Tuesday. Sunday we stuck to Canadian side with all plastics out of vidas. Caught 21 biggest was 24”. First time committing to plastic for both of us so learning experience. Monday slept in cause of the cold. Got going about 10:30 out of birchdale. Fished minnows till dark. Caught 18 biggest was 24.5”. Fished sunup till 12:30 Tuesday with minnows out of vidas. Caught 19 biggest was 26.5. Water temp ranged from 35 up to 37. Of course the nicest day was when we had to head home. Maybe head back up Friday or Saturday.

Was also going to say if you go online and request a callback it is usually way faster than waiting on hold depending on time of day. Then just go about your business until they call you.

Truthfully I couldn’t care less about turkes. Except my 12 year old has gotten into hunting them so I take him out. He’s been owl hooking in the backyard for 2 weeks now before school. I do know I’m not a big fan when I plant my deer food plot and the next day I have 30+ turkeys scratching the seed back out of the ground. And most farmers with plastic covered feed pile’s would rather see them all dead. They like to sit on top of the piles tearing holes in the plastic and causing spoilage. When the boy asks permission he gets, “ya you can hunt but you gotta shoot 5 of them dam things.”

Ya as hard as us 2 farm boys and those 3 chessies ran them cats dont think they ever caught one. Now wood chucks were another thing. We had a 100+lb male that would get a death grip on their head/shoulders and the our female and a older pup we had would literally tear them in half. Good times

We had cats on our farm but would not consider any of them tame. They were there for one reason. The only thing they got fed was a couple quarts of milk at the end of each milking. Sometimes we had up to 20 around. In all the years I think we only had one you could pet. It was my aunts before she moved off the farm. It didn’t stay tame for long. Only time they got handled was if we found a batch of kittens then dad would give them a distemper shot.
It sure was a hell of a time when me and my brother would let our 3 Chesapeakes in the barn at the end of milking. We would run them cats ragged till the ole man started yelling. Good times.

And no questions about the 8 gas cans that we had strapped to the trailer with our snowmobiles

We crossed in Baudette last Wednesday at about 2:00pm. 4 of us stopped and grabbed a case of beer each at duty free shop. Got to boarder. They never asked about any groceries or homemade food or milk or eggs. Asked about alcohol and bait. We had to go inside and pay $43 Canadian total for the duty and were on our way. Thought it went very smoothly.

“Rippin Lips” with a picture of an aggressive toothed walleye

Good buddy of mine has this on his boat minus the walleye picture. It was on from the original owner but he never removed it.

The vapes are hooking kids bad. My wife is a high school teacher. Says they find them everywhere. Kids out of sports constantly because they were caught vaping. Kids leaving class every hour to go to the “bathroom.” They have taken to locking the locker room doors so they can’t vape in there during school hours. Even a bathroom that is in a seldom used hallway is locked. There were a pair of sixth graders that were caught recently high on a weed vape during school hours. Its bad.

I have never smoked a cigarette or weed in my life. I’m not gonna say I didn’t drink some beer during high school but never during school.

It’s 100% worth it. Fish the Canadian side all day for size and numbers and then stop on the way back to camp to get some dinner on the Minnesota side. Just make sure you know all the rules.

    Can’t keep fish in canada?

Last time I did mine the sticker came off but the color didn’t. Was like I took the outside clear off but the color remained. Put new one over the top.

So I’m confused when this regulation actually went into place? This picture was posted online yesterday which looks like a sign at a landing that says March 4th. The article here says today the 11th. Guy I know was there Saturday. Got checked by a warden with well over 5 fish and warden never said a word. With how much regs change on mille lacs I wouldn’t be surprised if the warden’s can’t even keep up.

    Pic wont post

Reviving this thread as pool 2 proved my 8 yr old trolling motor batteries are ready to be replaced. Looking at 2 12v Litime batteries to run in series for a 24v setup. Have of you that switched to 12.8v lithium batteries replaced your on board charger to handle lithium or have you gotten by with your original on board charger?

I switched to 2 litime 12v 100ah trolling motor series batteries. My old charger wasn’t compatible, so I bought a noco that works great. But right now li time has their chargers on a good sale. My dad and I were just putting his order in a little while ago for a single 12v and charger for his power drive.

Hey BC I know you have talked about how much you like the LiTime batteries. Wondering what size did you get? They have group 24 and group 31 batteries. They are both 100ah so kind of confused what the group size means. I will be ordering 2 of these very soon. Where did you order them through?

I build my hole hopping panfish rods at 44-45.” It lets me get the tip of the rod to the water so wind isn’t pushing my line. Love fishing with them but they are a pain to deal with sometimes. Made rod protectors out of 1 1/4 pvc and usually just throw them on the dash of the truck.

According to Carl at Timberline in Blackduck there is a new one coming. But as he said didn’t really know what they would improve.

On the farm we had a similar bolt bin. It was a little red wagon minus the running gear. After dad died it got cleaned out. Lots of different stuff in there, including sheared shear pins. You just never know.
After I got married my father in law passed down his spare part bucket to me that he had inherited from his father.

Was walking between bars one night just as the town cops came out of the pizza joint. Stopped me, made me take breathalyzer. Told me if I blew over a .30 they would have to take me to detox. I blew a .23 and said see I knew I wasn’t a .30. He says “you know .23 is pretty drunk” to which I responded with “Ive been way drunker than this.” They were not amused.
They gave me a ride home and told me to stay there. I waited until I couldn’t see tail lights anymore and walked to the closest bar.

Worked with a guy that would put his house slippers on to let the dogs out in the morning. More than once he showed up at work still in his slippers.

The issue for me is still the cold. My boat is outside almost year round so charging in the cold is a no go. Hopefully somebody gets that issue sorted out.

Could this issue be solved with a simple heating pad, one that you use on your back? Just plug it in on low and place it in the battery compartment. Should bring temp up enough for charging?

I’ll be the bad guy. I like to eat fish. I like to eat fish even when there’s not a current bite or open season. I eat fresh fish and I freeze fish for later. Maybe all you guys calling for lower limits are just way better fisherman than I am. Cause I know I sure can’t just go get myself a mess of walleyes anytime I want a meal. Thats why I use the limit when they are biting and freeze some for later. No need for lower limits. The guys filling freezers to abundance and overlimits are not going to follow the new regulations anyway.

Apples. I work 4 day weeks and bring 4 every day in my lunch box. So 16 a week is pretty normal.

My son had his MN DNR safety certification class last weekend. Good thing it snowed the night before so there was at least wet grass to do the driving test on. Ironic thing is that the instructor’s sleds probably got more miles on them than most other sleds in the metro area will this year.

My daughters had theirs this past Saturday too. Benton county snowmobile club had to put wheels on just so the kids could take the drivers test. At least they got to take it. 31 kids in the class though, that was good to see.

Buddies daughter took her test last year. They actually walked the course. No sleds were used.

Sounds ridiculous. No state gives up land. Although our current administration just might be re tarded enough to do so…..

They already have given land away. State park in SW Minnesota is now tribal land and trying for more. Chippewa forest, white earth forest red lake?

Use to love doing my outside chores on the farm on nights like this. No yard light or headlamp needed. I think i could have driven to work this morning with my lights off.

Just for reference my hot bait up on Winnipeg last year was a Williams Wobbler, its a very light tin spoon. A custom build on 36” thorn walleye sweetheart blank is all I use.

I’ve been using 10″ for over a decade now, but I primarily target northern and walleye. The benefit of the larger diameter isn’t whether a fish fits through it, but how easier it is for a fish to get turned up into it.

Thats the main reason Id like a 10” for lakers. They definitely don’t like getting there head started.

Why not just cloverleaf your holes with a 8″.

Cause then you’d be drilling 2 or 3 holes instead of just 1. And when you drill overlapping holes all the slush from the second hole is being dumped into the first hole taking extra time to clean the holes. And when you are on the move from spot to spot it’s not very timely. Plus sometimes the first drop is the best and gotta beat your buddies bait down.
