The issue for me is still the cold. My boat is outside almost year round so charging in the cold is a no go. Hopefully somebody gets that issue sorted out.

Could this issue be solved with a simple heating pad, one that you use on your back? Just plug it in on low and place it in the battery compartment. Should bring temp up enough for charging?

I’ll be the bad guy. I like to eat fish. I like to eat fish even when there’s not a current bite or open season. I eat fresh fish and I freeze fish for later. Maybe all you guys calling for lower limits are just way better fisherman than I am. Cause I know I sure can’t just go get myself a mess of walleyes anytime I want a meal. Thats why I use the limit when they are biting and freeze some for later. No need for lower limits. The guys filling freezers to abundance and overlimits are not going to follow the new regulations anyway.

Apples. I work 4 day weeks and bring 4 every day in my lunch box. So 16 a week is pretty normal.

My son had his MN DNR safety certification class last weekend. Good thing it snowed the night before so there was at least wet grass to do the driving test on. Ironic thing is that the instructor’s sleds probably got more miles on them than most other sleds in the metro area will this year.

My daughters had theirs this past Saturday too. Benton county snowmobile club had to put wheels on just so the kids could take the drivers test. At least they got to take it. 31 kids in the class though, that was good to see.

Buddies daughter took her test last year. They actually walked the course. No sleds were used.

Sounds ridiculous. No state gives up land. Although our current administration just might be re tarded enough to do so…..

They already have given land away. State park in SW Minnesota is now tribal land and trying for more. Chippewa forest, white earth forest red lake?

Use to love doing my outside chores on the farm on nights like this. No yard light or headlamp needed. I think i could have driven to work this morning with my lights off.

Try the local high school. I know our school has a lazer engraver that my boy has done some projects on.

Just for reference my hot bait up on Winnipeg last year was a Williams Wobbler, its a very light tin spoon. A custom build on 36” thorn walleye sweetheart blank is all I use.

I’ve been using 10″ for over a decade now, but I primarily target northern and walleye. The benefit of the larger diameter isn’t whether a fish fits through it, but how easier it is for a fish to get turned up into it.

Thats the main reason Id like a 10” for lakers. They definitely don’t like getting there head started.

Why not just cloverleaf your holes with a 8″.

Cause then you’d be drilling 2 or 3 holes instead of just 1. And when you drill overlapping holes all the slush from the second hole is being dumped into the first hole taking extra time to clean the holes. And when you are on the move from spot to spot it’s not very timely. Plus sometimes the first drop is the best and gotta beat your buddies bait down.

I would say you have a resident wolf that is living very close. He/she needs to go away.

Has anyone tried a 10″ Pistal Bit or converted a 10″ Lite Flite to work on a Millwakee M18 drill?
I have 8″ Lite Flite but want a 10″ option for my permenant house holes without jumping into a 40 V setup.

A 10″ bit through a bunch of ice would be asking a lot out of a drill setup. I wouldn’t try it myself. It would require clearing each hole multiple times and would be hard on your drill. 6-12″ of ice is one thing, but a couple feet of ice or more wouldn’t be fun.

The 8″ Pistol bit does a decent job at reopening shrinking holes, I’d stick with the 8″ myself (that and I hate 10″ holes lol)

Do you think the 10” bit would be worth it for lake trout? I have a 8” lite flite and am currently shopping for a 10” mainly for lake trout. Thoughts?

B-man we know a lot about your 2 boys. The fish, hunt, tie jigs and feed chickens. The next question is can they keep their mouth shut at school? The most important step of the three S rule.

Isle Royale is where they spent tax money to trap and transport wolves to the island to kill the moose. Then there was a cold winter and the wolves walked to the mainland over the ice. Then spent more tax money to trap and transport more back in. Wonder how much people would pay for a moose tag on the island. They probably wouldn’t make as much on tags as they spent on relocating but at least it would be cash flowing the right direction.

Could have been referring to the common chatter among some deer hunters that if they see a wolf shoot it and let it run off and die. I’ve heard this from multiple people over the years. In the long haul it won’t change anything, hunting wolves doesn’t put much of a dent in the population. Back in the day when they tried to eliminate all wolves in the US the only thing that worked was poison for complete extirpation.

Well I think the guys that were shooting them out of planes made a impact. I’ve seen the pictures of piles of dead wolves. Wish I could make a bill board out of it. I think wolves have a very important role in ecology. Worms gotta eat too. Only good wolf is a dead one. SSS. Kill and release.

We have a gift exchange at our family Christmas. I always try to get something useful. A case of windshield washer fluid usually goes over well. Everyone needs it and its not more “stuff” sitting around.

So when I bought my Lite Flite few years back the sales person told me they are the same as regular 8” lazer blade’s, which I had s spare set wrapped in plastic in my rod bag. I never confirmed this. Can anyone else?

Stopped at cabelas yesterday, reaffirmed that store sucks. But sitka gear is 25 percent off black Friday, and 40 percent off with a code cyber Monday. Makes buying a fanatic set or incinerator under 600 instead of over 1100

I have a Fanatic coat. Love wearing the coat when I get it on. But putting it on in the stand is a pain. I probably could have gone up a size and that would help. The sleeves are on the tighter side which helps bow hunting but they don’t slide on very easily. What ever u do make sure you are wearing all your layers when you test the fit in the store.

We were tested for color blindness in school by the librarian/nurse every year through elementary. Same time they tested our hearing.

Boy got a dam good first buck ever Friday evening, shooting his great grandfathers .257 Roberts. One shot behind the shoulder. Went a little further than I thought he would go but went down. I sat this stand for 4 days opening weekend. He sat with me for 2 hours. Otter tail county. 9 points 190lbs dressed.

I have a 4 bank in my boat. Could be a bad battery or could be the charger. Switch the leads on the 2 batteries. If it does the same thing then probably the charger.
I had a issue with mine right after I bought it off eBay new in box. One lead wouldn’t charge. I contacted NOCO. Sent the charger to them and received a brand new one in the mail a week later. Very happy with them and the new charger.

Anyone have any experience with the Axil XCOR electronic ear buds? Will be use mostly for duck hunting. After getting my bell rung a couple more times this last weekend in North Dakota I decided to spend some cabelas point money. They have them $100 off right now.

I have no experience with ear buds but it sounds like you need some new hunting buddies if you’re getting your bell rang every weekend. That’s unacceptable. He/ she/ they are permanently damaging your hearing.

Its not all completely their fault. It’s always worse in close quarter situations. We hunt out of A frame blinds so room is tight. But there are definitely times when guys are taking shots they probably shouldn’t be. Sometimes it’s even the strait overhead shots that hurt. I actually have documented hearing loss but it also seems like i have very sensitive hearing to load noise.

I have tried wearing regular ear plugs but you can’t hear yourself when you’re calling at ducks so kind of a deal breaker for me. The calling is to muffled and you can’t tell how load you are.

Where are they 100 bucks off ?

Ya the more I looked at different vendors they were not on sale. The original thing I seen on cabelas site had them marked down from $300 to $200. But it looks like they are $200 everywhere.

Try writing a strongly worded email or a phone call to CVA. My cousin had a Winchester shotgun that the rubberized coating started to peel off. They sent him a new stock. Of course the same thing has happened again and he just uses as is instead of screwing with it again. You never know.

Zone 214 we are up to 3 deer from 2. From scouting and the looks of our corn there are going to be lots of opportunity for Harvest. Last year it seemed deer numbers were a bit down from previous years but still plenty of deer. We hunt near The wadena/Bertha area.

    Anyone else hunt that area?

We have land by Wrightstown, west of bertha. Have only had cam out for a few weeks but very little deer movement. Got pics of 2 young wolves though.

Those pods sure do put a rear trolling motor like, a vantage, a long way from the driver in a tiller boat. Or maybe not even possible? No thanks
