If anyone has any doubt about taking the time to download and listen to Jarrad’s interview, I want to say its well worth it – very well done and quite informative.
Thanks bud..
Rick
Hi Tom – sorry we missed the LaX WAT but most important I had a daughter’s graduation / party that weekend.. I heard you, Pat and Terry + partner did very well – good job! You just might see us at PDC WAT this fall – never know . Jay and I will be back chasing bass this weekend and will miss Tuna’s again so good luck in that one.. I still would like to take you up on a grass crap outing on pool 8 this summer – sounds like it could be a good time..
Later .. Rick
Thanks Jarrad – you must be physic to guess that Jay & I were trolling (I like to call it Jim Bleu 101). It was also nice spending time with Paul & Seth as we waited for the All American awards presentations. Congratulations to both of you as well (see you at the GOM in July). This is the 3rd NTC we’ve been to and they are very well run considering a 250 boat field.. The WAT (our qualifing circut) was very well represented in the top 25 including the #1 spot going to Mike and Murry I guess we will have to keep on chasing these two ole river rats..
I’ll try to post a cool NTC day 1 picture (1 of only 6 limits for the whole tourney)
Rick
Zoomer,
I was there several years ago (late October) and went 2 days with San or Sal Salomar charters. They are easy to find and a very reputable bunch. Caught Dolphin & Tuna on day one (while looking for Marlin), and on day 2 we caught 2 very nice Sails and had several Marlin up.. The other nice thing was these fish are realitvly close to shore in regards to other ocean trips I’ve been on.. One word of wisdom – try to get a capt that will leave port before 8:00 – they are not in any big hurry + they wait on locals to bring them back live bait.. Our best bill fishing, and most bill action was right away in the 1st couple hours.. Go mid-day for the other species..
Stop in to see Dale at Gander MT in LaCrosse. It looks like they commited to carrying the full line of ringies, S-doos, paddletails, & grubs, as well as h20 jigs..
In Wisconsin, it is Illegal to:
Fish with more than 3 hooks, baits, or lures.
I understand this as 3 rods w/1 bait each, 2 rods w/ 2 baits on 1 rod & 1 bait on the other, or 3 baits on 1 rod.
For Wi/Mn boundary waters: Wi residents need a Wi license, Mn residents need a Mn license to fish. Non-residence need to purchase a license from either state. Regulations on these waters may differ between states. You must obey the regulations of the state you are fishing. Does this mean to fish the regulations of the state you are licensed in? I think so. If you draw a line in the channel for this wouldn’t that declare an actual state boundry otherwise?

Hey Fly Guy, was you down with your dad Saturday? Jay and I were on 9 all day and didn’t see you out there. We had a good outing as well, but seemed to have boated almost as many eyes as saugers Saturdy. We fished from the dam to Desota and found fish to be scattered all over (10-13′ was are best depths). By the end of the day, purple or yellow killer jigs out performed all plastics, but was glad to get bite on my new ring lizards.. – they look too good not to work.
See you soon.
Rick
Hey Jarrad,
It was about time we got out and shared some water with each other. I really enjoyed the day on the lake with you – even though you made me change your flat tire before you put me on a big fish (lol). Hell, I’ll change the oil in your truck next time if that’s what it takes.
We’ll have to get out and do it again soon..
Rick
jimsiewert,
looking at the final results – it appears you experienced quite a day 2 improvement from day 1 weight.
Care to share what adjustment was made?
