I like using the silicone repair tape. Haven’t had any issues with it coming loose or leaving residue on the handle after removal.

I like the Big Dipper scoops for this, because the handle is an easy to read measuring stick. Slide the scoop end down the side of the hole until the top of the big yellow cup clicks in place at the bottom of the hole then read the stick.

Thanks for the input, all. Sounds like these shelters run pretty true to the sizes listed on their product sites.
I can’t comment on the Otter, but the 2600 was designed to fit under the tonneau of a short bed box. If you have a low pro Tonneau that fits inside of the box rails, it might be tight. If it’s mounted on top of the rails, you are for sure good. The Eskimo also has the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in for a full day.
10-4
I used to run a 55 and happy I bumped up to an 80. Our boats are comparable in length, beam, and dry weight according to the specs I can find if you’re running the 2023 classic tiller. Mine is 16’9″, 79″ beam and 800 lbs dry weight. Yours is shorter, wider, and slightly heavier.
You won’t regret having the extra power and length when you need it.
Browndog, yes I use the Legend Elite version of that rod and like it.
DaveB, I get horrible feedback while snap jigging the jigging rap style baits size 7 and up. I’ve tried with a 7.5′ ML Eyecon and 6’10” ML Legend Elite. What brand/model do you use? Even though I do like the rod I’m using I can’t help but wonder if a ML would increase hook up percentage and help them stay pinned.
It’s interesting to me how many of the TV/utube personalities suggest using a 7′ to 7.5′ ML for this application. I’ve tried using this length in the ML St. Croix lineup and I personally can’t stand it. Just way too much feedback after the upstroke/snap. Unless anyone has a suggestion for different rodmaker so I can see what I’m missing? Otherwise I’ll stick with the 6’8″ MF St Croix that I’m currently using.
He was using livescope (admitted it in another video). Pretty easy to tell the difference between walleye and bass on livescope. And if isn’t, it’s easy to see that you’re casting to the same school of fish and pulling the same 28-30″ walleye ought to tell you something.
Yup, there’s a fairly significant difference between the GT34/54 and 36/56 transducer. I don’t have any screenshots but my GT36 is a huge improvement over what I used to see on the 54.
Mine have an operating temp range of -4 to 140 degrees. Doubt I’d be out in the boat below or above either end of the spectrum.
I’m running 2 12v 50ah Amped Outdoors on my 80# Terrova on my 17′ boot. Run all day on lakes no problems. Not sure why the ah rating of a battery would affect max thrust. I used to have a 55# on the same boat and this set up has way more power so I think I’m getting max thrust when needed.
You can use DirecTV streaming service and watch all games on Bally. I think it costs about $20 more than Hulu. Still cheaper than the dish
Congrats on your temper tantrum and thanks for saving America from the 125 year old volunteer. There’s no telling how many votes went to the blue guy before you showed up as I’m sure untold thousands that had every intent on voting red automatically switched after receiving their instructions from this criminal.
Are you guys up to date on your software?
If so have any of you tried Garmin CS to ask about the transducer reading issue?
Check Glenn’s Reel Repair in Iowa (Google it). They sell new and reconditioned minnkotas. I just checked and they have 80# Terrovas with foot pedal and I pilot link in stock. If you order tomorrow it’ll be on your doorstep by Wednesday or earlier.
I didn’t check what they have in stock for reconditioned motors but if they have what you’re looking for you could save a few bucks.
I’ve had my LVS34 since early May (my 1st LVS) and Its great to use but non so much as yesterday. Kind of had perfect conditions for the bite I was on. No wind and walleye were tucked into the weeds. I was casting to the weeds with a #7 JSR and I could see my bait out 75 feet from splash down and back to the boat. Was a blast to see the walleye shoot out of the weeds to smash the JSR.
The whole system has been great to use I really haven’t moved very far from default settings and have been getting nice pictures even in the stained water I fish.
The 1022 is not touchscreen the Ultras are so depends on how important that is to you. I’d probably opt for the best resolution available especially since you’re strictly using it for LVS. If you ever decide to move away from Lowrance and add other Garmin units the GPSMAP 1022 will only network with other GPSMAP units. It will not network with Echomap Ultras.
the trolling motor receptacles that come standard on many boats are inadequate for the load modern trolling motors can draw. it’s amazing the ways in which even premium brands under-rig their boats in certain areas.
once i started running 36v i had to replace the plugs on three Tuffys, two Skeeters, and a Lund. my current boat is direct-wired, so no plug.
this 70A from Marinco does the trick nicely. 64 bucks on Amazon.
Marinco 70A
This 70A Marinco plug is top notch. Not sure why you’d waste your money on anything else.
Garmin imaging got better a few years back with the release of the GT34 and 54 but now I’d put it on par with MEGA imaging with the GT36 and 56 which is what the OP is using.
What model transducer are you referencing that had bad down imaging?
Do both units have the latest update? If not then I’d update first and see if that helps.
If the units are networked then as a test you could disconnect the GT56 from the console unit and view the Clearvu transmission from the Force to see if that makes a difference. Doing this would rule out it being a problem with your console head unit. Then try the 56 on your bow unit to see what that looks like. If there’s a problem with the 56 I’d call Garmin CS. They’re usually pretty helpful.
I never have issues seeing structure and fish marks on my GT36 ClearVu (fish show up as dots) and what I see on CV is synced up with 2D so something definitely isn’t right
Oops nevermind about the software I missed where you said they had the latest.
I had a 93UHD with GT54 but now I run the 10″ Ultra with a GT36 which is the equivalent to the GT56 but without the 2d sonar. The GT36 is a big improvement for side and down imagine over the 54 IMO. I’ve never run Bird though so I can’t compare. Screenshots I’ve seen of Mega imaging look great. I’ve had comparable images on my system. I dont think you can go wrong with either brand
If you have the ability and know how, updating via the MicroSD card is the quickest/safest option…
Agreed. I don’t like using AC to update.
Nice vid thanks for posting.
Got my LVS34 this week can’t wait to get it installed and on the water. This will be 100% new tech for me as I never had the 32 or any other panoptix system. Videos like that should help with the learning curve.
