So here is what I have read on this issue in the past:

    1) Leave the door open at all times as these front loading units seal so tight and the combination of moisture and bacteria that like to eat soap scum is bad.

    2) Once every month or two run a cleaning cycle. People use Affresh, Bleach or Vinegar. The Affresh type products are suppose to break down the soap scum that bacteria is eating at and causing the smell

    3) The other thing is that some washers have a screen/filter that gets plugged in front of the pump. You’ll see some newer units have a small access panel in the lower corner. If yours doesn’t you might have to unscrew and pull off the panels to get to it. It really depends on your washer and you can probably google cleaning for your specific model and get some results.

This black core, chartruese with red belly was similar to something I was thinking of. I was thinking:

“blue core, chartreuse, with red fleck.”

But if a red belly is possible, better.

I am okay with black core also.

Yeah, the online Leader said 662, but the actual paper copy said 66 1/2, 662 sounds a bit more impressive. Tail-hook is just a bit more challenging, so I am okay with that, ha!! I can tell you that 14lb fireline can stand up to a-lot more than 14lb of pressure. I also have one arm that is larger than the other. We also had another large fish on spinning gear which I was unable to pull off the bottom. After a few minutes, I was asking Brian if he really wanted to waste any more walleye fishing time and pop she came unbuttoned so that was okay. Fun and memorable opener. I think Brian was going to post a few pics.

I know of a couple places call Chubby’s are those yours? If so, Stanley WI is not too far from Eau Claire and Scheels carries moxies.

Kidding aside, I think Dean at Everts could get you an order pretty fast, even if you don’t have anything local.

Gosh, to me it sounds like a problem you experienced while it was under warranty that hasn’t been fixed. Is there a new warranty on the board when you get those? I am sure you have thought of all this, just rambling.

I would say, some of it depends on how many cranks you want to store. Most people will recommend the bigger boxes. I have been using the Falcon FT0 700 series boxes (I think Plano now has FT0 series) and the Plano 3771 custom divider boxes. I use mostly shad-style in sizes 4, 5, 7 and thee boxes work well. Now I probably don’t have as many cranks as others but this works well for me for a few reasons:
    1) These boxes are very slim. So they stack nicely and the cranks don’t move around a-lot.
    2) If I am going with someone else, it is very easy to grab 2-4 boxes to carry or put in a bag.
    3) I can organize in groups of around 20-30.
    4) The Plano 3771 are around $6 a piece if you keep looking for deals. The FTO are more.
    5) I am starting to use rubber bands on the hooks now to avoid tangles (thx Whitetip!!)

Here is what I have gotten in the past:
    1) Columbia has PFG shirts, both short sleeve and long sleeve (sleeve rolls up and buttons), 50spf.
    2) Eddie Bauer has fishing shirts that I have gotten that are 50spf I think and I have had luck finding these in the clearance bin.
    3) Sam’s club carries a Natural Gear fishing shirt again short and long sleeve. These are around $20.
    4) Columbia also has surf/swim shirts. Yeah, sounds strange but these are comfortable and breath well on those really hot days, even long sleeve.

I would have to say the Sam’s club and Eddie Bauer shirts are comfortable and breath well also and have lots of pockets. The surf/swim shirts have no pockets if that is important to you. I like the long sleeve for protection and also nice to roll up and button.

Check out local stores and a place like Siera Trading Post online. If you are spending long days on the water, please do something, skin cancer is very serious.

I have been using the Plano Liqua Bait Locker/Wallet and I have been happy with it. The plastics fit in there upright and I can fit quite a few packages. You can see through it to know what you have in the box and I can seperate my gulp into one of these and not have to worry about stink/juice accidentally leaking out.

I also am using the Okuma SLV 2/3, did you remove the clicker? Just wondering if you did that because I have been thinking of doing that to reduce the noise when pulling line out.

Agree with Twister!! If you like to pre-fish (look at lake contour prior to fishing the lake) then I might recommend the CD-ROM. I have that for Minnesota and I can’t tell you how nice it is to look at the Lakemaster details on a 21″ LCD screen and have all the points marked prior to fishing the lake. You can really help yourself out by doing that. You can load many maps onto the GPS unit and it really won’t be any different than having the SD card in the GPS unit. There are some advantages to the SD card I am sure, but for pre-fishing on the computer (which I like), the CD-ROM is the way to go.

You won’t be able to use Lowrance Lakemaster chips in the Garmin unit if that is what you are asking. Unfortunately you are not able to use Navionics either. For around $100 you can purchase the Lakemaster HD for the Garmin unit. This will come in a SD card, you can download onto a SD card or you can order a CD-ROM. The nice thing that Garmin use to do if you purchased a CD-ROM, was to allow you to load the Lakemaster data on multiple Garmin handhelds for no additional cost. The handhelds just had to be registered to you.

The 60CSX is a good unit with good accuracy and fast lock. I use it for ice fishing mostly but also for hunting and driving (sometimes). Let me know with posts or PM with any other questions.

Just thinking reasonably. You bought a used product with some defects and didn’t check whether a replacement was available before the purchase, right? I would be frustrated also and that I can understand because I may feel that way also. However, looking at it from the manufacturers point of view, I would say for being successful in that industry means continuing to develop a more advanced sled and or shelter. I am sure they try to keep past customers happy but not at the sacrifice of not producing new products. In many cases, businesses do not like to carry a large amount of inventory and I would imagine that is the case for a manufacturer like Eskimo. How much building storage would you think they have for past and new inventory?

I have Eskimo shelters and all have held up pretty well. I actually have an Eskimo QuickFlip II which also has a few very small holes in the front of the sled. But after 6+ years on what was a $200-250 package, I think that is pretty good.

I do hope you find a cheap solution and that it works out for you. Keep looking for someone that may have just the sled on craigslist. Also please share if it works out, because I would like to do a quick patch on mine.

    Good luck!!

Well, I sent an e-mail into Marcum and got a really quick response.

    1) It is normal for the blue LED lights to flash on when the unit is powered up.
    2) The blue lights are dim and then fade to a “Just Visible” level and this is normal.
    3) When the infrared lights are turned on, the blue LED lights remain at the “Just Visible” level until the infrared intensity is increased. I didn’t get a for sure answer on this, but I would bet it is normal.
    4) The Sharpness adjustment has been removed, so only 3 Menu options is normal.

    Good quick response from Marcum/Versae!!!

Dido, depends on where you go. But if you are out on opening deer season near CRP, tree groves, slews, ponds, coulees, etc keep a watchful eye. A large number of people just don’t risk it. Take care by asking the land owner, taking orange with you for your walk back and forth, and whatever else you can think of. It is flat country for the most part and rifle units for the most part.

I second this trio. I had the I-pilot and covinced myself a few months ago to buy a humminbird (because I would have eventually) and then the lakemaster chip. Great for pre-fishing, finding reefs, locking on the reef structure, etc. I think I may have sold another I-pilot or 2 based on others watching the effort required in wind with be able to lock, move in a direction, control speed, etc. I should probably ask for a commish,

Should work fine. Just hook each bank to a battery. The anchor won’t be run that much on the one battery from the 24V trolling system. Just take some care when connecting the 2 front batteries in a 24V configuration for the trolling motor.

    Couple things…
    1) Check your breaker (if you have one) and see if it is large enough for the 24V Terrova. I think it is recommended at 50 or 60Amps.
    2) Check the current battery cable size (gauge). Cross-check with the manual, you might need to run new cables (larger cables) for the new Terrova.

Just curious on the bait keeping setup used by most. Transport them in the bags from the bait shop out to the house boat location? Majority are left at the houseboat site during the day in what? Most people using bait tamers in the boat?

Yep, really easy to do. And you can do this for waypoints from a Garmin device also.

The Humminbird PC software has been pretty good. One thing I didn’t like all that well was changing the names of a large set of waypoints. When I converted over my Garmin waypoints I wanted to change the names so that I knew that is where they came from. It was a little time consuming to do that, I had trouble with pasting text. I also wish that you could import excel sheets (in a format specified by hbird).

I would definitely suggest putting a fuse (3 Amp) in place because if you don’t, that can void the warranty. At least I am pretty sure I read that somewhere. Also, I would suggest running a direct red and black to the battery, dedicated to the locator (12 gauge wire) and while doing that put a fuse in line on the red wire. You might be surprised on how much of a difference this can make. If you are connecting to the breaker box, the 12V and ground could be routed through every breaker and thus creating a more resistive path.

Is there a group rate or something at the Thunderbird?

I had asked the question on the original forum for the Rainy Lake GTG (under General Discussion), about whether the seminar was the tuesday night before the start. I then got a reply that last year the seminar was on wed night at the houseboat site and it would probably be the same this year. I don’t know if the majority of the people are still watching that thread, if so, maybe we should clarify what is going on. I could do that of course, but I am not savvy to all the details, you know…

    **** YEAH!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the updates, it makes the wait seem to take that much longer. Please let us know on the get together the night before so we can consider changing plans if I find others in the group interested in social smart talk hour or hours.

Gosh, I would imagine it could be any number of things.
    1) Loose connection at the battery.
    2) Loose connection between the battery and fuse if there isn’t a direct wire from battery to fuse for unit.
    3) Fuse isn’t sitting right in the fuse holder or problem with fuse holder.
    4) Connections made to fuse holder.
    5) Connection at the back of the unit.
    6) Bad battery (Set your readouts to have voltage up on one of your views like sonar)
    7) Hopefully not something wrong with the unit internally

So, check all your connections and put up the voltage reading if you don’t have it up.

Just had to get the 100th post!!

No serious, there was some mention of a seminar. Has any thought been given to when that will be if it is still on? We are thinking we would just come into to I. Falls on Wednesday morning but was wondering if that meant we would miss the seminar if it was Tuesday night.

    Thx,

Thanks for posting Sully!! Nice to know that even though we thought the panfish bite was tough to no-good because our pockets of panfish had moved off, that there were actually people having some success.

I have a couple of proposals.
    1) Let’s move leauge to Wednesdays. I only needed to get slapped in the hands a few times when I was lil before I changed my attitude. Same kind of thinking here, Tuesday weather is just not working.
    2) OR, if that falls through, let’s give more show-up points for these bad days so our scores don’t look so bad!!

    So the:
    HDS 5 Lake Insight Map

This is the Hot Spot Maps in the 3-D (Insight) format, preloaded on the unit? This looks to be $50 more for this preloaded, than say the basemaps. ($799 versus $749, retail of course).
