Dustin , Sorry for asking for details but I don’t fish the Pepin area enough. When you guy’s are talking about the lake, is that everywhere from the head down ,or from say Lake city down ?
June 16, 2004 at 2:31 pm #308853Did you by chance get up get up around the Maiden Rock area,or does anyone know if they have been doing any good up that far?
June 3, 2004 at 5:58 pm #307315I keep reading articles and try to figure out who people are on the river. I still don’t know if was you , the guy I talked to had someone get in his boat from another boat while I was there. Otherwise like I said I have a Alumicraft w/120 Evinrude on it say hello if I run into you.
Good luck!!!June 2, 2004 at 2:11 pm #307092Chappy , Were you in a red Lund , if so were you the the gentlemen that I talked to right at the docks and gave me the tip on split shot and a plain hook? I was in a dark grey Alumicraft.
May 28, 2004 at 5:36 pm #306566I think that would be a great Idea of the names on the motors. How do you guy’s ackowlegde each other on the river,I would like to say thanks for some of the articles I’ve read. Well for those of you who will remember I have a dark grey Alumicraft Phantom w/a 120 Evinrude on the back. Stop and shoot the bull if we meet up. Good luck this weekend.
May 19, 2004 at 7:11 pm #305414I can answer some of the questions: I run a 6 1/2 ft Cabelas tourney rod, no line counter. I use a 5 to 6 ft 8-10lb leader. Tie a swivel to the lead and hook up to the leader.I run my line out untill I just start to tap the btm. then crank up just a bit. Staying close to the btm is the main key. After a couple tries at the line amount you’ll figure out the colors. ex: 25 ft of water with a #5 shad rap go out to orange. I can’t remember what all else you asked but feel free to PM. 15# Cabelas lead line is the best it has a silcone coating. I use Shad raps , Wally divers u name it. Good luck

November 10, 2003 at 1:10 am #281365We stayed out on the north side of the bridges at Prescott.Trolling was the only thing producing any size I saw alot of small stuff caught on jig’s but that was it. I plan on going out on Wed and Thurs if the weather holds. Keep me posted if you here anything else.

November 7, 2003 at 6:55 pm #281228I’ll be out, but not untill Monday or Tues. I’m taking my 13 yr old son out dear hunting behind the house for the first time this weekend so wish us luck. But back to fishing pulling cranks worked out the best last weekend and the bigger the better. Good Luck out There !!!
October 24, 2003 at 9:18 pm #279528I will be on the river next week in full force , as I am off for the week. I am planning a guide trip on pool 2 for Thurs. But plan on hitting the croix in the mean time .
Will start out trolling shad’s and hopefully find the fish then if all goes well, plan on switching to plastic.
Sound’s like the plastic bite has just begun down at the damn in Red Wing, using 5″ K-grubs and 4″ Ring-worms.
I tried them on Wed. and had no luck, but won’t give up untill they do. There is nothing like it when they get started.
Good luck to All
JQOctober 23, 2003 at 1:46 am #279350Did’nt seem to be any definitive ryhm or reason today. Around the 25 ft range . Using Firetiger and Orange colored craw #5 Raps. It was a fast flurry today and then they just quit. Hope that helps a little. Best of Luck.

October 21, 2003 at 3:27 pm #278954I was out last week and it was super slow. Plan on hitting the water tommorrow early and see what happens. I hope from your report it’s the lull before the good bite starts. And I hope it’s Wed. I will post a report tommorrow night.
October 8, 2003 at 2:03 am #278019Thanks for the info, anything has got to better than trolling . I feel the need to feel the bite !!!!! I am off all next week so I plan to get out as much as time will allow. Hopefully this weather this week won’t warm things up again to much. I’ll keep you posted. Let me know if you guy’s get out before then.
Thanks JIM Q
October 7, 2003 at 12:42 am #277862i gotta be honest with you I have done some of my better fishing mid-day down there. But have overall done good before the sun starts hitting the water. Today there was very little wind, so that did not help. When I figure the perfect time I’ll quit working and fish full time. My wife would love that.
October 3, 2003 at 2:33 pm #277505I was out yesterday to set up a stand for my son , this will be his first year hunting. The spot I normally set up at already has three scrapes around it. It caught me by suprise but it sure pumped me up. I am excited for him.

October 3, 2003 at 2:22 pm #277504Yup, I’ve been trying a little bit of everything , but it’s still the lead that is producing the most fish. I wish that the plastic bite would start. It will soon.
September 30, 2003 at 9:02 pm #277010Chappy, Yea they were above the bridge on Monday , but they should’nt be on Wed. Also I have been running lead line with #5 Shad,s . That is why I would like to get back to throwing some plastic’s when they really get the feed bag on. But just about all my fish lately has been WALLEYE”S which is a nice change.

September 30, 2003 at 11:52 am #276924Sandbar, Yesterday most of the fish came going down stream from about 1.8 to 2.3. But it seemed like any variation in speed seemed to trigger them. Like finshing out your pass over a bar then making the turn.

September 26, 2003 at 7:52 pm #257585We were using #5’s and fishing just off the edge of the breaks.
September 26, 2003 at 4:08 pm #257622We were using Firetiger and clown colored Raps fishing in about 18 feet of water. When they hit it was usually doubles and they were very aggressive. Which leads me to believe that they were starting to school up. Good Luck
September 19, 2003 at 10:48 pm #276792If this is where you post count me in . I have done nothing but work for the last 2 months and I am ready for some some great fall fishing.
James says… Yup, this is where you post!
July 15, 2003 at 8:47 am #270651Jeff, depending on what kind of boat you have, I am guessing aluminum. i have some stuff made by Belzona and will patch anything that is metal. It dry’s so tough it can even be machined afterward. Drop me a line maybe it can help.
