I paid $90 for a great pair of polarized sunglasses at Cabela’s. They came with a crushproof metal case that has saved them more than once. I picked a pair with larger lenses for better range of vision. They have many to choose from in the high end display case.

Does this mean that I can have my Suzuki 4 stroke 115HP winterized at a Johnson dealer like Al’s in Rochester? I have been pulling my rig from Rochester to Bloomington the last two years for this service. How about warranty work?

    Mercman.
Just got back from Baudette on 1/20. Caught 140 ‘eyes and sauger over two days. Problem is most were in the 12 inch variety. Kept 25 fish. The guys who fished friday said the bite was awesome. A front came thru Sat AM and the winds were steady for the next two days. Had a great time though. We were in 28 to 30 ft water. The better fish were caught witha very subtle jigging motion. Glow jigs with a minnow head (not the tail for some reason) worked best. The bigger quarter ounce glow jigs caught better fish than the eighth ouncers. Good Luck

    Mercman,
I am heading up there from 1/17-20. Will e mail you when I get back. My buddy was there last week and did well on ‘eyes and sauger with Buckshot Rattle Spoons that glow and gold jigs fished just off the bottom. Also put half a minnow……like everybody else. Jigging was more effective til middle of the day when a bobber/live minnow produced better. Fish the Lake.com has good info too. Better than I can ever provide.

It has to be Hanson’s Harbor. This year he has been ordered by the court to display a sign at the entrance to “his” harbor that fisherman are welcome.

I have used a Magellan 315 for two years. It is all I will ever need. It cost $139. The accessories such as DC cords, data lines and dash mounts cost half that of Garmin. If you use 30 percent of its features you must be Lewis and Clark.

I have been in law enforcement for 33 years and I have never heard of so much crap as this case. I was ready to send money to a defense fund if necessary. These cases give law enforcement a bad name.

Good going Loren…..I fish with Loren all the time and find that he really knows his stuff. Loren did two shows for Fishing The Midwest a year Looks like his string is still going.

I have several GS rods and fing they work well, are tough and don’t break if you drop a rod locker door on them. They are reasonable n price too,

Exide batteries are the worst pieces of junk you can put in a boat. I have had better luck at Fleet Farm off the shelf.

I keep it simple. I use 18# lead core on a Penn reel. These reels wear like iron. I put the reel on a 6 1/2 foot graphite rod. I tie a 4 foot mono or fireline leader onto the lead core and pull away. Have caught a lot of fish pulling #5 raps with these rods in water up to 19ft. The lead core really gets these lures down there. A line counter is nice but I zig zag on my trolling pattern and vary depths often.

This is 2 cents worth from an avid fisherman who doesn’t have anything against tournaments that are well managed. I have read almost every reply to this topic and have read the confusing article. I agree with several tourney fisherman. Its public perception baby…..It drives me crazy to see PWT weigh ins where beautiful ‘eyes are pulled out of livewells and waved around like sports pennants all under the BS guise that these fish will survive after this kind of treatment. There has to be a better way to determine tournament winners. Lets face it, tournaments are won amd lost by tenths of a pound and it would be hard to determine a winner with accuracy when they are weighed away from a central weigh-in site but there has to be a better way. The numbers of fish lost to delayed mortality may be insignifcant but some of the biggest fish in the lake are the ones dying. I think tournaments are great but there has to be a better way to pick the winner.

Walleye Boys….the 20 hr check on a four stroke, according to them, is an adjustment to the valves. I called Suzuki and they stuck up for their guy but they didn’t say it was mandatory just suggested. Maybe I’m put of line but no nre motor 3 months old should require $116 bucks worth of work.

I bought a great product…Suzuki 115 and Alumacraft 18 footer. After I bought the boat there was big recall and they told me it would need a 20 hr check. They never told me there was a $ 116 charge for the 20 hour check. Guess what its not mandatory….then when I wanted to speak to the service mgr about some operational questions he was very rude acted like my questins were stupid. He wasn’t at all busy..apparently it was close to his lunch time. I just wanted to know about the winterization process on a 4 stroke, this was my first. Then they tried to overcharge me for some add-on equipment that I had paid for months ago…..keep ur receipts. Once they get your money courtesy goes out the window

I have never used attractant with blade baits on the River. Its the “fall” of the bait that I fins attracts them. Keeping verticle is the key/
