The only Tom that i’ve killed in MN had 7/8″ spurs. But, the Iowa Tom that i shot this year had 1 7/16″ and 1 3/8″ spurs

Exactly haha I was certain that one of your giants was going to walk by after gun season. You’re gonna have some studs next year nice job sticking it out, ricco!

I ended up just seeing a 1.5 year oldbuck. I went for a little drive afterwards, and there was 5-6 does/fawns eating out of the farmers corn pile

That’s dedication! I hope something happens in the next few days. It’s been a tough December on everyone that is still hunting.

If you can get into some 3D archery shoots, you should! They’re a blast and will help you learn yardages without a range finder. When we shoot them, we don’t allow range finders, but will discuss yardages. Each person rotates so that everyone has a chance to shoot better than the guy in front of them

I doubt your speed is that high with an old bow, unless you’ve chronoed it. I shoot a ’09 Rytera Alien X that has an IBO of 330. I shoot a 27.5″ draw at 60# and shoot high 280’s. I don’t know anyone that shoots more than 315 ft/s unless they’re shooting a 7-7.5 gpi arrow, and if they were using this setup for deer hunting, they’d be stupid…The benefit with modern-day bows is speed and quietness. I personally can’t justify spending $1000+ on a new bow nor will I ever.
I personally think that any bow from ’06 till now is a good bow. This includes anything from Mathews to Martin. It’s hard to find a “bad” bow because technology is insane, quick, and quiet. I’d suggest going to a big, local archery shop that has such a selection, and shoot a lot of bows. I personally like Bowtech because of their grips and quietness. My second would be the Hoyt Alphamax

Ok, thanks for the replies. Should I contact the WIDNR for a further explanation?

But then on page 27, it states:

    Group Deer Hunting Law
It is illegal to kill game for another person EXCEPT during a deer firearm season when
any member of a group deer hunting party may kill a deer for another member of the party.
Group hunting is not legal for persons hunting with archery equipment. All participants
must be licensed and each must possess a firearm, except that a mentor and a mentee

hunting under the Hunting Mentorship Program may share one firearm

    Web,

I know you’re trying to be the nice, rational guy in this situation. But, THIS IS YOUR PROPERTY! This guy has NO case for hunter harassment because it’s you’re property and can park/do whatever you want as long as you’re not intentionally pestering another hunter.
If i were you-and like others have mentioned-contact the Sheriff, but photograph the shooting lane and any other evidence against him that you might have. You have every right to park wherever you want on your property!!
Chances are, your neighbor has had a pattern of this same type with other relationships in his life. He knows that he can be intimidating and manipulative. DON’T FALL FOR IT!
If he confronts you again, tell him, “GFY” If you don’t know what that means, PM me

Another piece of information, it’s going to be really tough to sell used arrows. However, a person new to archery might be willing to buy them to save some cash. It might be a little easier too if you have a long draw length, in which someone with a shorter draw length will be able to get the arrows cut down to their size. I know a really good archery site that allows you to sell and buy bows to other members. PM me if you’re interested

I believe that a buck can travel a couple miles during the rut. For example, I shot a buck in 2010 on November 2 that was captured on camera 1.5 miles away two weeks prior. If the deer you were talking about were does, then it would be surprising that they traveled that far. But if they were bucks, it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ve heard that older bucks tend to have a more restricted travel range during the rut, but I think this depends on hunting pressure and the number of does available per acre. I think it would be more informative if you provided us with the following information:

    1: gender of the deer
    2: Age
    3: Typical hunting pressure
4: Typical food sources for your area

It would be easier if you would post a picture so that we can see the sight and condition of everything. A rough estimate of about $600-700 with everything, maybe?

It sucks, but it happens. Every bow hunter will experience the sickening feeling of losing a deer (I have) There’s always hope with getting on another buck. You have a great late season spot this year and i’m sure you’ll soon regain the confidence

I have also had multiple Cans and grunt calls from Primos, but they keep breaking They are under lifetime warranty, but once I returned 4 Cans because they stopped working. I like the Primos Buck Roar for the loud snort wheeze and roar (both helped me kill Tank). If this breaks, I’m going with something from M.A.D.

you’re not the only one that doesn’t have much luck when the wind is blowing 15-20+. This year however, I have a spot that is down two steep draws-about 50 feet below the field above. On a windy day, it blows about 5-8 mph down there and the deer use it to get out of the wind
