To be fair, there are plenty of drivers out there that will go 45 in a 55 until they get to a place like Onamia where you can pass and they speed up even without a wheelhouse! LOL
I have been getting stuck behind wheelhouses for years coming back from LOTW and red. I got a wheelhouse this year and I am now part of the problem!
But in all seriousness, I was coming home from Mille Lacs yesterday and I was doing 65 in a 60 and still had people tailgating me. Not sayin you are this way but its never fast enough for some people so I just go with what I am comfortable with.
I have gotten the whole family out in it a couple times with a couple more planned for this winter still and my kids (5,3) absolutely love it and that’s what its all about for me.

I was curious about this as I am heading up there next Wednesday. So I messaged the Northwest Angle Guest Ice Road on FB and here was their response.

“That is a rumor that went wild. We did have some conversations with our partners regarding the land portion of the road but we are operating as usual and this page alone will be your source of truth for relevant information pertaining to the operation of the ice road.”

There is a company called Aqua Traction out of Clearwater, MN and they do the same thing. You could give them a call and see if they would be able to help you out.

Yes, My wife (33), myself (33) and my kids all had it in mid march.
I had no symptoms. My wife had a fever for a day, cough and fatigue for about 5 days. She then lost her sense of smell and taste for 3 weeks. Has since made a full recovery. My son (4) was asymptomatic and my daughter (2) had a fever for 24 hours and was back to normal after a day or so. At the time, I had read that blood type made a difference in severity of symptoms with A being the most susceptible to have symptoms and O being the least. Anecdotally, that proved to be true in my family.

I can vouch for the no taste/smell symptom. My wife tested positive for it and that was one of her symptoms. All things considered, she had a really mild case.
However, before she got sick, we had taken turns staying home with our 2 kids who were sick with fevers for a few days. After consulting Allina Health’s Covid hotline, they told us to assume the kids had it (daycare provider was sick a couple days before my kids were) and gave it to both my wife and I and that I could be asymptomatic. I never had any symptoms so as soon as serology tests become available, I am going to get tested to see if that was in fact the case.

When I bought my LX 6, it did not come with a charger. I just walked into their building and got one no questions asked. If you live in the twin cities area, that would be worth a shot if you continue to have CS issues.

I am going to pile on the dog fish destroying gear. A few years ago, I was fishing a lake near princeton that I had caught some nice walleyes on before. 5 minutes on the water, I thought I hooked into another big one. I saw the belly flash about 8′ down and knew it was big. At this point I thought I was going to break the 30″ walleye mark. Just about the time I was thinking that, my rod snapped in half. So I dropped the rod and hand-lined this thing in and got it in the boat. My wife looked at me as said, “what the hell is that?” 28″ dogfish snapped my rod clear in half and bent my hook almost straight. No idea how I landed that thing but it is the only one I have ever caught and I don’t think I will ever forget that!

Yes, you will need to purchase the outdoors card and get a fishing license. The conservative license allows you to keep fewer fish for the frying pan if that is what you are going for. You can get a more expensive license if you want to keep more fish. This is for Ontario at least.

I wasn’t necessarily asking who has roads out there or who will this weekend, I should have worded it better probably. I was just curious where people like to go out of. (I’ve made some calls and the couple I have talked to are waiting for the snow to stop to make a decision)

I did not. If the circumstances would have been worse and we were not catching anything, I would have given it a shot with the chain. Fortunately, it never came to that.

I should also mention I took the chain off and replaced it with a treble hook.

I used a gold rocker spoon on Lake of the Woods early January and caught a lot of walleye/sauger.

    That’s awesome!

My son loves summer fishing and ice fishing but has yet to do an overnight. He says he wants to and this would be a perfect opportunity for him! He is 3-1/2 and loves fishing. (Especially touching the fish’s eyeballs)
