Plunge I bought a Record 2 years ago and took it back after three days on mille lacs. The top part of the reel kept opening on the cast. It did cast like a dream and other wise was the best Abu I have seen. I know a lot of guys throw Abu’s but I have found the Calcutta’s and Luna’s to be much tighter reels. I guess it goes with the price.

I run Diawa Luna’s on St. Croix Rods. I have owned Abu’s and Calcutta’s and the Luna is engineered to perform and last. You get what you pay for in a reel.
January 14, 2008 at 3:30 am #642980Were you on the north end? I was out from the south beach. I marked fish with no takers. I was in 25′ and had a huge mark at about 15′. I pulled my spoon up and before I set the hook it was game on. After fifteen minutes and 4 passes by the hole I was elbow deep squeezing a 45″ muskie on the ice. Measured and back down the hole like a banshee. All alone so no pics. Very fun on 6# mono. I thought the line would bust on the ice for sure. Made the day.
January 10, 2008 at 2:55 am #641568I would agree on the marina spills but this is very concentrated area. It sounds as if they were “mopping” what they could but fish mortality was expected.

You always worry about the other guy on the road not the road going out from under you!
I questioned MNDot on the way the new river crossing in SSP-Newport was handled with misalignment and using tension cables on stress cracks in poured supports.
This bridge had the de-icing system installed a few years back.
Prayers and Well wishes out to all involved.
I am always astounded how rescue personel roll into action and risk their own lives. Words escape me. True heros!August 2, 2007 at 1:46 am #596268I would say $700. Its ready to go it sounds like. You won’t find a better piece of equipment, IMO.
July 31, 2007 at 2:25 am #595485good guy bad knees…but I believe the clubhouse is pissed! Looks like I will not be watching the t-wolves. KG is gone!? So much for Glen Taylor and his spin.
July 27, 2007 at 9:34 pm #594821I have been out a fair amount and have raised over 30 fish since mid-june. I have only boated 2 fish to date, hoping that changes this weekend. After talking with some diehard esox anglers and guides this summer has been a bit of a challenge. It would be interesting to know how many anglers have acually hooked a fish on Mille Lacs. There is a ton of time logged on that body.
December 19, 2006 at 3:17 am #27371I have shot a Parker Hunter Mag for 4 years and a Mathews Switchback for 2 years. These bows are certainly in different tiers of performance. The Switchback is the smoothest and most fun bow I have ever owned or shot. I like the Parker bows but they have much more vibration then a Mathews. I would put Hoyt in the top five to buy and hear good things about Ross although I have not shot one as of today. Go shoot as many as you can and buy what works for you.

September 7, 2006 at 3:41 am #20167I shoot the Maxima 350’s with my Switchback. All I can say is the only reason to shoot aluminum arrows is the expense of carbons. Faster, flatter shooting less arrow vibration and I personally have much more confidence in carbons. I started shooting carbons many years ago. They were Beman carbons made in France with my old Bear Alaskan. First shot on a buck was a pass through and stuck it in the dirt. Never looked back to aluminum.

April 30, 2006 at 3:54 pm #442220Use the heat gun to remove the vinyl film. The adhesive can then be removed with a citrus based cleaner, this breaks down the adhesive and removes it. Clean the area with iso-propyl alcohol to remove any grease and dirt. Then put on the new decals.
February 2, 2006 at 4:20 pm #416960I have heard from four different people that the shed hunting so far has been great. No monsters but some nice respectable scoreable sides. Good luck to all the shed hunters out there. I know the kids love getting out there.
February 2, 2006 at 4:01 am #416816Thanks for the response. I have friday off and I am going to do a little recon mission to the Croix. If no good ice exists then I will focus on shed hunting. I just can’t believe the proV might hit the Croix still this season.
February 2, 2006 at 3:54 am #416813Hey guys. Either of you head down to P2 at all. I have been trying to focus on hard water angling but this warm snap is getting me to ready the proV.
