Before you start adjusting the settings that previously worked for you I would suggest you try this fuel already premixed with 93 octane non ethanol gas, synthetic oil and a fuel stabilizer added as well. Also has a 2 year shelf life. This might solve your problems. I buy mine from Home Depot for like $6 a can.

Last year I bought the Ambush thermal and I have no complaints about the quality or setting it up. Once you set it up a couple of times its like tying your shoes …
March 1, 2014 at 7:43 pm #1392956I used to have the same problems with alot of my small engines until I started paying attention to the fuel I use and I starteding using Startron Ethynol additive. From my boat, ATV and everything gets a shot of Startron to the gas. No more issues and getting upset over something that could be prevented. Ethynol fuel s()<ks!
March 1, 2014 at 12:07 am #1392783You may possibly have a hairline crack in one of the fuel lines. For some reason your losing vacuum from the tank to the carb. A carb rebuild kit is pretty inexpensive and it wouldn’t hurt to install one. Just a thought …..
February 26, 2014 at 9:13 pm #1392022I would be more concerned about fouling any of the sensors on your truck. Save it for the lawn mower but with seafoam in the fuel you should be ok.

I just watched Joe Dirt a couple weekends ago for probably the 10th time, the hair on your Avatar is a perfect match! LOL

February 25, 2014 at 3:58 am #1391413Seen a guy the other day wearing an IDO hoodie while I wandering around the Cabelas in Hammond, Indiana. I was gonna chat with him a bit but he was looking at the womens lingerie clearance rack. Maybe next time….Nice hoodies though a little high on the price unless I buy one for the wife and kids and then it will be alright!
February 12, 2014 at 6:10 pm #1388223My go to is a black Fiskas in any size size depends on depth. But I do like the CJ&S tungstens with the longer shank hooks. I have about 30 of them but just never tied one on yet. Black jig with a black dupee plastic….
February 6, 2014 at 7:36 pm #1386589I got a better deal on these rods last year and bought 5 of them for $20/rod. They went up some in price but ya still can’t beat the price. The damn spring bobber alone is $12?
February 4, 2014 at 5:03 pm #1385935I store my plastics in the small plastic box that the Mora auger blades come in.
January 31, 2014 at 5:57 pm #1384904Haven’t took the time to play around with the unit on the ice yet since I upgraded and dialed the unit in, but will make it a point next time out. The graph mode is full screen? I am currently using the graph mode on the left side of the screen.
January 26, 2014 at 6:40 pm #1383316I was thinking to eventually order a couple of rods but just haven’t had much time to do the research to decide which rods are best for me.
January 26, 2014 at 6:16 pm #1383307So because your preference is not using flasher mode and you laugh at others for using the flasher mode?
Did you ever think of calling Marcum and telling them to eliminate the flasher mode because you don’t like to use it?
Whatever I feel comfortable with I will use to put fish on the ice, some people just never cease to amaze me ….
January 26, 2014 at 3:48 pm #1383226I’m starting a support group for you folks still running circles on your digital marcums.. You guys totally crack me up.
fishwater – And what is your choice for a screen display?
January 21, 2014 at 4:53 am #1381330Thanks for sharing the report. I would like to eventually learn that section of the river. Someday I’ll take a ride and try to figure that place out. Usually see your reports on another site.
January 17, 2014 at 11:20 pm #1380698I drilled 2 holes through the tub of my shanty and while sitting down inside I’ll screw in my ice anchors. I needed them yesterday when I was out. Fished a slough with bare ice and I left my anchors at home. Everytime I went to get up for a beer the shack would start moving.
January 17, 2014 at 7:31 pm #1380680Like I said I have the new V4.06 but I’ll wait until Marcum releases the version because more useful changes may be made bewtween now and then. I fished shallow water yesterday for gills in 5fow and when I was hole hopping and I drop the puck into the hole and then my jig it would take 3-4 minutes before the jig would appear on the screen and that delay was pissing me off! Hope the update resolves this issue!
January 17, 2014 at 5:02 am #1380448I was emailed the V4.06 from a member on another site. I downloaded the update to my laptop but was a little nervous about downloading it into my LX-7. Thinking I’ll just wait till Marcum puts it out.
January 14, 2014 at 3:13 am #1379653Possibly a hairline crack in your fuel line you must have an air leak somewhere in between your tank and the motor. And like CRC said a venting issue. Or your fuel filter is dirty? I’ve had some issues in the past and found out I had some debris in the fuel tank and was restricting the flow of gas when the motor was at speeds higher than idle. I’m no expert but just throwing out some ideas ….
January 13, 2014 at 8:18 pm #1379624How much snow ya got on the ice up there? Is there slush underneath?
January 13, 2014 at 8:17 pm #1379623Awsome colors on those winter Perch! Great catch guys don’t lose your GPS with those numbers in there!
January 11, 2014 at 3:02 am #1378969Did you buy your parts directly from Strikemaster?
I’ve been using the VP Fuels 40:1 Premix from Home Depot and I can say my auger has been running a hell of a lot better! The Ethanol additive makes any motor run like crap ….

I’m glad to hear that the carb kit helped. I think that is what my Lazer Mag needs. It starts fine and will run for awhile but will bog down and eventually kill. It has fresh gas with some Seafoam and a new spark plug and air filter. Fuel lines look fine, so I hope the carb kit will do it. Was it fairly easy to do?
When the auger is about to die maybe try unscrewing the gas cap to vent the tank. Just a thought as I have to do that once in awhile on my lazer mag.
January 1, 2014 at 8:37 am #1375721Seen the sign as we were going onto the ice but didn’t think it was for ice fisherman. Will give them a try time out.
December 31, 2013 at 7:12 pm #1375629Check out the new Frabill Thermal Ambush. Gotta love the extra room and the side door entry. Very happy with mine!
December 31, 2013 at 10:27 am #1375479Maybe you are priming to much and flooding the carb and soaking your spark plug with fuel? If that’s the case remove the plug and heat the electrode up with a lighter, pull the auger over a few times and then reinstall the plug. Just a thought ….
December 31, 2013 at 10:22 am #1375478I can say that the first rod I grab when starting off is the rod with a black tungsten and use either a micro nuggie, wedgie or a black dupee. Been using the 5mm bobbersdown tungsten but recently switched over to a 5mm CJS because I prefer the long shank hook.
December 31, 2013 at 10:14 am #1375472My 2.5hp Solo engine wasn’t running up to par the other day. Didn’t really want to idle and just wasn’t running right. I thought maybe it was the VP Fuels 40:1 premix I was trying for the first time. But when I got home and looked the auger over I found the black hose that connects to the primer bulb was just about pushed off the black nipple on the bulb. I noticed a few drops of gas and this was probably causing the carb to suck air causing the carb to not get enough fuel. Here in the garage the auger runs great now. Excessively priming the bulb probably caused to much pressure causing the hose to slide off…$0.02?
December 31, 2013 at 10:04 am #1375468I run a 2007 Kawasaki Prairie 360 4×4 and this machine runs great and does exactly what I need it for. Ice fishing, hunting and pushes 10″ of snow with a 48″ plow just fine.
