Justin at UpNorth Rental on Red out of Roger’s is amazing…..great places and the service that anyone would need. The fishing is good, they move you if needed and being able to go on your own is more than there. Port A Villa is also there and new owners of Roger’s, they have the really high end stuff and will still help you if you clean fish at the bar. Limits of eaters are there and all but my one huge trophy came from that resort as far as size, thank you Mille Lacs catch and release regs she is still in there.

Unfortunately for me I live in the Quad Cities as in IA/IL boarder…..but that’s what my truck is for getting up to early ice.

I personally don’t have an opinion. I’ve got three really good fishing buddies and their on both sides of this. All I know is that we have caught them in both situations and also not caught in both.

Another fun way to do it is hand fishing them, I use my tip up, and drop down a daredevil bare and rip it. This draws them in, then slow it down in their face while watching and they bite. Note this is in clear to clearish water and at most 20 ft.

Do not rip on the guy for calling out a safety issue. As a Safety Professional I have to say thank you….we all need people looking out for one another. To the others, I always say how does it feel to be defendant number 2.

I go after hammer handles more than any other fish when I’m up north. Sorry I live in gill country. I love them pickled, fried and even grilled. Once you know how to get the y bone out your golden, plus in the ice the meat is firmer.

Don’t know about this year but last year each time a buddy and I went up there we went to the pressure ridge or were at least 3 to 5 miles away from anyone else…I agree with the keep the noise down….we drilled several holes and then waited a bit before fishing. Our best fishing and biggest fish all came this way. I will also agree is just looking for good eaters the night bite from a cabin is awesome.

check the wires to the indicator. I had a similar issue and it was corrosion on a wire from melt.

I only use two, the red and white like yours or one that is just like a perch. Might want to try putting a sucker down the hole with the red and white if its slow.

Depends on what you want to do honestly. I have a set of bluegills from when I was younger that my uncle as a taxidermist did for us kids, lately I wanted to make a display so I kept fish I thought about for the case which meant a trophy northern of mine 41″ but smaller perch and a couple eater walleye. Size doesn’t always matter, especially with my walleye in there, those two had such character in their color and skin plus each had a great story to go with them.

For the pike I like to take a tip up and put a daredevil on it, then bait them in by hand jigging, this really seemed to get them aggressive towards me. A friend of mine and I limited out in 2 hrs last year doing this plus its a lot of fun going by hand.

We had 2 solid down here in Iowa….it killed ours with all the rain on top….if your south stay off and stay safe….at least I got me first time out on Friday. Remember safety first all.

Just watched it on Youtube, too far south to get it aired on TV here. Great show, really liked upper Red, especially Roger’s for myself. Can’t wait until I get some time off to go north or another job up that direction lol. I will agree that you guys showing information that on how and why makes your show the best out there. I like seeing a fish caught but if I don’t get the how and why then I can’t learn anything. Keep doing it right and can’t wait for next weeks show.

I’ve been to Rogers a couple of time and for allowing access and information, along with just plain great people, second to none.

Agree that their customer service is second to none….Marcum is good too as my buddy will tell you. When you get it back check CL and Ebay for parts. As for the airlines, as a guy who flies a lot for his job, I would sell every United employee who is not a pilot for Vexilar’s staff

2 inches is usually the start of walking time…..those of us down south usually get on this or a couple more…..water movement and snow conditions will play a major role in if its truly safe or not.
