Cloudiness on oil bath hubs on the older Rangers is actually normal. It only takes a bit of condensation from the heat and cool cycle of unloading at the lake to create enough condensation for the oil to turn cloudy. That’s why they went to black hubs so you couldn’t see that in later years.

As far as whether to disregard oil or not, it’s an ongoing debate by many. Mine is a 2002, and have never had an issue and I put a fair bit of miles on.

That said, I also had to have an axle straightened at Bee Line Sports near St. Cloud and they do a TON of boat trailers. They highly encouraged me to switch mine to grease since they have seen a fair number of failures. The seals apparently aren’t always perfect and can let the oil out at some point. They also said nothing special to do to switch. Take it apart, get all the oil out with carb cleaner or whatever, then just repack with grease. Do this every one or two years depending on miles driven.

I’m still rolling with my oil bath for now, if I start to see issues I’ll switch.

Usually I’d say they’re pretty good. About a week, plus shipping time.

UFlex is also a good hydraulic steering brand.

Similar story, many years ago my dad had some axle work done on a truck. The mechanic learned that he had hogs and wanted to trade a pig for the axle work. Dad told him, “sure I deliver them in loads of 175 where do you want them?”

The hassle just wasn’t worth it.

Mustang is an extremely high quality brand. What you really want in my opinion is the hydrostatic ones. They won’t pop in your compartment because it’s humid or damp.

I bought a dehumidifier for my shop a couple years ago, made a world of difference in comfort and working out there. I don’t have a drain, but the there is a crack next to the sliding door where the concrete apron meets up, I just let it run right there and the water seeps into the crack at such a slow rate it doesn’t harm anything.

Even in the hottest weather we’ve had this year, temp in my shop never rose above 75, of course I also have some trees surrounding it to help keep some sun off of it.

Put your phone on your boat deck on a 90* or even 80* sunny day. It’s going to throw overheat alarms in short order. Happened to my all my iphones if I happened to leave them out, so saying they’re just as durable isn’t quite true, but overall they do take a good daily beating. There’s an order of magnitude difference in what your boat electronics need to endure.

Battery or your switch is first thing I’d suspect.

InReach or SPOT is the other company that makes them, and the only real viable option for what you’re looking for in my opinion.

Or if AT&T gets good service there like others suggest, but a cheap burner Walmart phone with AT&T service.

VHF on lakes with lots of islands isn’t going to perform and do what you want it to do, even with an 8′ whip antenna.

There are little tabs on that hash mark, the length means thats how far it is. 50′ = line length
    100′ = line length.

The only one who can advocate for you with the doctors is yourself. You have to ask lots of questions and throw stuff out there like the MRI.

Don’t just go with the flow! Ask.

Only the Ultrex Quest doesn’t come with the lcd screen remote, or the regular non-brushless motor for that fact. They have the micro included

The Quest Ulterra and Terrova both come with the bigger lcd remote.

This isn’t immediate help, but when you do get shoulder tuned up, or casting now. Practice perfect casting form, I see a lot of muskie guys pulling these odd half side arm type casts. Perfect form will use the muscles that need to be used and minimize stress on joints. I muskie fish a lot and can tell the difference on my body when I get sloppy.

I’ve been enjoying this needle nose since I got it last fall. So far easily cutting braid for me. and the jaws are a bit thinner than most but sturdy for unhooking eyes and crappies.

So far it’s my new favorite pliers in the boat. Not gonna cut heavy hooks with it though.

You could try raising the ducer to see if that helps reduce the turbulence. Raising works 90% of time 10% of time lowering it helps. Ideally you installed a plastic board on the back of the boat first before installing ducer. That allows you to move the ducer around to find the sweet spot. Installing ducer and finding it’s best spot is only part science, the other half is witchcraft and I’ve installed hundreds of ducers.

I’ve seen moving a ducer left or right an 1/8″ go from garbage to fantastic. Same with height.

The big SI ducers are poorer at getting high speed readings, but you can sometimes still get them to do it. Often times people do install the high speed small 2D ducer on back of the boat, but that too can take tuning to find the best location.

How many of the respondents are sportsman vs. anti fishing hunting? The lead bullets question is prime example, wouldn’t expect more sportsman to favor banning lead than not. Could lead into why the ban on FFS came out the way it did too.

I would use as wide of a mounting board as you can. Gives you more flexibility to move ducer left or right to find the sweet spot.

I have some 5/8″ hdpe board that I cut however large I want. I’ve also used cheap white plastic cutting boards from Walmart and double them up, works fanastic. You may need to indent the backside with a larger drill bit to get to fit over top of rivets.

Having freedom to move ducer is paramount in finding the perfect spot on your boat.

Sun glare off of brushed stainless on a panel near your gauges will darn near blind you in the sun, ask me how I know )

Some of my panels are starting to look a bit tougher, my plan when I have the time is to have them hydro dipped in some form of carbon color. The Faux wood is looking a bit dated these days especially with the sun bleaching.

I bought the Fenwick travel spinning rod a couple years ago, came with a travel tube. Think it’s 3 pieces. More than happy with the sensitivity for what it is. It will cast jigs, shad raps, etc. Bought it to throw in my carry on bag, which it will diagonally just barely. Without the tube all pieces will fit in there normally and I can save the space of not bringing tube, and just pack clothes around it.

I’ve tried making them a couple times. Order all the fancy glitter, epoxy, make an area to dry them. They never turn out as good as the ones I can buy and took way more time than I wanted, glitter wouldn’t stay on as well either. Came to conclusion it just wasn’t worth it at all.

You need to copy the exact same lkmaster folder back to the exact same card. It “should” work then. If you deleted anything inside the lkmaster folder, or you stopped a copy early and something didn’t transfer when you first accidently did it yes you’re screwed.

If the folder is named anything different than what it was originally it won’t work.

Don’t use a lakemaster card for moving waypoints for this very reason.

Impact aside, I’m very familiar with the Ranger trailer Mojogunter is describing, and will verify it is an awful design! Worked on trying to get those lug nuts off on a friends trailer for a long while. Eventually had to melt out the lug itself with a torch from the backside.

Ranger should be ashamed of themselves for that one.

Listened to a DNR talk in sourthern MN years ago about the commercial netters that would come in and net all the carp out of the lake. They said invariably even if they figured they got 90% or more of the carp out of a lake, the next spring would be a banner spawn. Said that happened every single time. They said it was pretty much a futile effort to reduce numbers of carp. Unless of course you poison the entire lake and everything else with it.

I always thought that was interesting.

Swap the relay with another one that’s working. Like the turn signals. I have a 2010 f150, there’s several of those relays in there.

I left a new bottle of bloody mary mix once in the back of the truck overnight in -30* weather. Took a professional detailing to get that stench out of there, it was BAD.

For the cost of new for a yammy 115, I’d personally go that rout and have no worries.
