Plastic tank=fuel permeation.Had that on a late 90s Lund Pro-V.Thank you Milemark_714!
Is that means that your Lund tank was defect? Did you change it? If you look the Moeller Marine Products site, you’ll see that their fuel tanks are protect from permeation.http://www.moellermarine.com/oem/fuel_tanks/fuel-tanks/
In the other hand, did you had an exterior or interior vent. In the 90, I had a very nice Alumacraft Trophy 170 and I never noticed any smell. It was equiped with an exterior vent (trought the hull)
Finally, I’m surprised that nobody seems to have any comment on that problem.
There was/is discussion about this problem on other sites.I removed the floor panel over the tank, and checked everything.I had the smell in the front storage compartment.Found nothing wrong, and the dealer said smell could be from carpet glue/flotation foam .That was back in 1999.
I never heard what the fix was, other than replacing the fuel tank.I overfilled my 2005 Alumacraft Navigator once, and never had any fuel smell whatsoever in boat.
thanks Mile mark!
A very curious problem I have there! I’ll probably change the tank if I don’t reveived other helpfull comment. Local Dealer and Crestliner never heard about this problem…they told me!
