Here is a link to a video explaining how to level your transducer using a bubble level, coins etc.

As for the Ti 2 I’m not sure how waypoint sharing was changed or if it is the same in the Ti models.

The TI2’s all have wireless networking and you can connect up to two units via this network. They can share mapping, waypoints and 2d sonar between the units and you don’t need NEMA to do that. You can also hook up a Point 1 antenna via NEMA and that can also be shared between the two units I believe. The only thing that you can’t share is SI/DI.

Check compatibility with your unit to see what chips will work with it.

I would take a look at both Navionics and CMAP if you are going to buy new. I bought new Elite TI2’s and it came with a CMAP chip. I already had an older Navionics chip so I tried them both out and I ended up selling the Navionics. The CMAP gave me the ability to do depth shading (which you can’t do in Navionics), the lakes around me it went down to 1′ depths and it covered all the lakes that I fish along with Lake of the Woods.

The Gen2 Touch can use the LSS-2 SI/DI transducer and it can connect directly to the unit you don’t need a structure scan box. You cannot use the Total Scan or the newer Active Imaging transducers.

Here is the part number for the LSS-2: Mfg # 000-10802-001

I use the Oregon file guide and files. It only takes 10 minutes to sharpen a chain. I have three chains and I sharpen them all at the same time and rotate chains while cutting. If they all get dull then I take a break and sharpen them all again. I usually touch them up on the saw when I need to add more gas or bar oil.

Ok at first I said Yes but I am changing my vote to “how about this instead”. The “Fishing Forum” should only be about fishing and fishing related topics and the “Hunting Forum” the same. Create a new forum called General Discussion. Use that for all of your non fishing/hunting topics, political topics, jokes etc. If someone posts something in the wrong forum just move to the general forum.

Thanks for the helpful replies, Chris and Cody.

Chris, when you say leveling your transducer, do you mean front to back or side to side?

Cody, I’ll play around with 800 vs 455, I appreciate the info!

Actually both ways you want to level it. The side to side is not too hard just go off of the step on the transom or some where with a level line going across port/starboard. The bow/stern level is a bit more important and it takes more effort to do it. I watched some videos on how to do it and the best one is while you are on the water. 99% of the time you are going to use structure scan while moving at an idle. You want to level the transducer while the boat is moving. To do this you will need a torpedo level and either a handful of washers or coins. While the boat is moving at idle on calm water place the level against a spot on the gunnel of the boat. Typically the bow will be higher than the stern. Then stack up washers under the level to raise the back of the level up till the bubble is in the middle. Once you have it level then put all those washers/coins in a bag. When you get home and the boat is on the trailer level the boat using the same technique with the torpedo level and your coins. Use the tongue jack to get the bubble into the middle on the torpedo level. Once you have that done then take the torpedo to the back and level the transducer or transducers in the back. Now when you are on the water moving at idle your transducer will be level with the water line.

I use a Trailer Valet 5X for my Ranger. I have about an inch between the door frame and the fenders. It works great. I found it used on craigslist for $150 a few yrs ago and I have seen them pop up on CL every now and then.

I may go down to the landing and watch the mess. That is always good for a laugh or two.

I would consider anything local where I can drive there and back on a tank of gas….

Well you can’t go wrong with upgraded electronics or larger units. I don’t need much for my boat either but if I had some extra cash laying around I would upgrade my console graph to a 9 or 12″ Lowrance unit and move my HDS 7 touch to the bow and sell off the 7 non touch. Unfortunately I don’t have any extra cash yet….

I have a 2015 Ranger 1880 Angler that I bought last fall and I could not be happier. If you can afford a Ranger then that is what I would get. Rangers hold their value so if you want to upgrade down the road the Ranger will be worth a lot more than a Tracker of the same age. Just look at Walleye Central used boats to get an idea of resale value.

I have the 2015 1880 Angler model with a 150 4 stroke Merc. In my opinion it is a great fishing platform. I have only ran it a couple of times and with the 150/3 adults I was getting 46 on the gps.

I can’t comment on the 3′ footer question as I have not been in rough water yet with the boat. I did come from an older 20′ fish n ski that had a narrow beam and the 100″ beam on the Angler makes up for the loss of the length.

Dislikes: Access to the battery charger, plastic trim on the sides are fading and chalky looking.
Likes: It’s a Ranger!!, rides and tracks very well, lot’s of storage, dash is laid out well (I have the graph above the steering wheel and the gauges off to the side), rod locker is big and I can store two more on the passenger side, full windshield is nice and sturdy, seats are comfortable.

The jump seats in the 2017+ models would be a nice have. Then you could pull the back row of seats out and that gives you a ton more fishing area. I like the layout of the back as well not a fan of the horseshoe in the 600 series boats. I can get right up to the side to net fish. I would consider looking at the 2080 Angler as well if you are looking for a bigger boat.
