tried all the vacation rental by owner sites, (vrbo, lakeplace etc….) they either are full, too small, or only rent by the week. would really love to be on ottertail again as its been fun bringing my father in law for his once a year walleye trip.

My college buddies and I do a nhl playoff beard contest. 25 bucks a person. Get 16 people and draft your team before the playoffs. As long as your team is playing you can’t shave. Winner at the end gets the money and a sweet [censored] beard. Must still have beard to win. Its funny to see the guys who can’t grow anything but spotty neck beards.

I recently got rid of my planer boards for trolling. I troll the river alot and it was such a pain to check or make sure my crankbait wasn’t fouled up. So this spring I am running 4 lead core rods. 2 five foot shorty’s and 2 twelve foot rods. If I have more people in the boat I’ll run flatlines without the boards. It becomes unrelaxing fishing the rivers with boards, just my opinion.

I was out today from noon to five, we might of been one of two people that walked out. I did see the truck today. It looked like it went through about twenty feet away from thin ice signs. Right off the point where a truck went thru last weekend. When are people gonna realize that this is a river, I’ve been down there one day on 12 inches of ice and a day later in the same spot there will be 6 iches. We were on fish right away but then everyone moved in on us and they just shut down. Be careful out there.

I got a call from my wife only to find out that her cousin had been shot and killed in Montana. We headed back for home so I could catch a flight out to Montana with my wife for the funeral. Her 26 year old cousin was tragically shot by her ex boyfriend while leaving a bar in her hometown. Needless to say this put a damper on the hunting trip as well the Thanksgiving Holiday.

    Good Hunting,

    Mille Lacs Guy

Sorry to hear about your wifes cousin. I am assuming your talking about the miles city incidendt. My wife walked down the aisle with the shooter as a bridesmaid/groomsmans at her best friends wedding about five years ago. Crazy world we live in, hope your holidays are getting better

Left mn Friday after work took me 13 hours to get here (SW ND) Buts its been worth it. Birds everywhere in all the sheltered areas. They are wild as hell though. Just thought I add some pics I took with my phone. (not the best quality) This is the view I wake up to every morning.

Headed down to Windom to chase some more ditch chickens. Was a gorgeous day and we ended up shooting these four unlucky birds.

This is from last sunday. A very tired puppy. Had to work all day for them two birds. Must of flushed 50 hens before we got my two roosters. Hunted cattails near Ivanhoe mn. Alot of roosters out there just not too many on the state land.

Steve no offense to GSP but that pup is pointer but this pointer has a long tail, making her the English variety. Nice dog you have there, us pointer guys got to stick together. Seems everyone here in MN has one of them swamp collies” Nothing better then chasing rooster behind a great pointer. This picture was taken two years ago, on a early december hunt. It was really dry that year and all 8 birds were shot under her nose. The funny thing is my dad has his two labs, and they never got birdy once. It was a proud moment for us. The labs just don’t seem to have the nose in harsh dry conditions like we had that year. Curious if anyone else has had issues with dogs not getting scent.

Headed down towards Windom. We managed to see alot of birds and were lucky enough to get our six birds. We had to really work hard for them birds. But as the corn goes so does the pheasant hunting. I will have to disagree with the roadside count as I saw more birds this year then I did the last 5 years. I really felt bad for the guys who got the thunderstorms. Can’t wait for the late season.

I do both, sometimes I let out 150 ft and I drag that big bottom bouncer thru the mud. Cause it to muck up the bottom, sometimes that’ll it drive em nuts. so I am about 50/50. Do whatever works

Need not worry here, Its not about me I am not worried about catching and keeping fish. Its the wives of the drunks, if they don’t bring fish home they get awefully suspicious. And as far as being unethical, this is the guy that has never kept a walleye over 18 inches. I am after trophys and eaters. All this was a question one of my friends had. Just cause usually I am one catching their fish while they sleep. Its like the dad you see tip up fishing in the winter with all the neighbor kids. Good luck to all who are fishing winnie on opener. Look for the rowdy’s at the Big Fish Supper club.

Another loop, not that I care about hording fish. Now if I was to send a guy to the other boat (on the water)with his six walleyes and grabbed a guy from that other with no walleyes. The yey ole double switch.
