Maybe another slapped together photoshopped background will show up behind a 13lb greenback again and it’ll be used as a puff piece for a different lake until someone points out where it was caught. Not ironic that this pic has been pulled long ago. Looks like some sunburn and raccoon eyes from a 60 degree day on the ice 2 years ago to me.

I use 12lb Nanofil up on Lake Winnipeg, works great and has the same diameter as 5lb mono. I even use it as a leader below my swivel. I do not care to use flurocarbon leaders up there, especially ripping big lipless cranks. I have been burned on a couple of hard hooksets.

You could buy an extra Pro Large Sled and hitch it up to the Resort via the rear hitch receiver accessory. Add a cover and hitch and you’re good to go for all your gear and you wont have to leave the seats at home. You wouldnt lose any space in the truck either, because you could stack the Resort on top of it.

No one is being blamed. The decision to leave the seats at home was based on space to haul all of our gear. Add 200# of camera gear, two augers, two rod boxes, MarCums, tackle, etc., and we couldn’t get it all packed in a single Otter. To bring a second Otter to spread out the gear a bit we would have needed a second vehicle… and that doubles fuel costs. So the seats got left at home and both Joel and I “rode the rail.”

I get the whole egg sinker concept and allowing line to run through it when the fish takes it, but its purpose isn’t to avoid the shiner from swimming up and away. They still use 2 split shot 6″ above the hook. I live in ND and am not familiar with Castle Rock Lake, so I was not aware if there was any current in it.

My concern was a lazy 16-18″ fish swimming up to it and just barely tripping the tip-up. While it is attempting to feed, a 1/4oz egg sinker plops in the silt and mud and causes a stir and spooks the fish. That’s where I’m coming from.

If you were about to eat a burger at a restaurant and right as you take the first bite something drops from the ceiling onto your table, is it going to surprise you? Or are you going to pause for a minute and possibly put the burger down?
