I would love to live in Wyoming-beautiful country! Fortunate to have a good friend living there! Lake Desmet is another large reservoir that has a healthy population of underfished walleyes. You will quickly warm up to catching the various species of trout. Bring your walleye rods along, I use spinning gear-panther martins, small spoons and especially jigs. They are fighters and tasty on the grill! You will be surprised how many Vikings fans you will meet in Wyoming. Congratulations!
March 30, 2006 at 11:20 pm #434526My kid’s favorite: Place fillets side-by-side in glass baking dish, pour white wine(St. Gabriel reisling is what I use, blue bottle) until fillets are 1/2 covered, place fresh lemon slices on top of fillets, place a pat of butter on top of each lemon slice, sparingly sprinkle minced garlic over everything, sprinkle fresh parsley over everything, cover with foil and bake at 400 degrees until done, approximately 18-20 minutes. This tastes just like the shrimp scampi at Red Lobster! Not as fat-friendly as the salsa/mango recipe, but oh so good!
March 30, 2006 at 11:10 pm #434523Place fillets in glass baking dish, chop a fresh mango and mix it with your favorite salsa(homemade is best), spread over top of fillets, cover with aluminum foil and bake at 400 degrees until fillets turn white and flake. Do not over cook fish or any other wildgame. Enjoy!
April 3, 2005 at 6:11 pm #354511I take delivery of my Alumacraft Trophy 175 on tuesday, can’t wait! It is a 2002 with a 115 Yamaha 4-stroke, T-8 kicker, and a 20″ transom. I asked my dealer about the transoms and he said most of these boats have 20″ transoms and they haven’t heard of any problems. Nice boats!
March 29, 2005 at 3:33 am #353039Didn’t Michigan, Boston College and Boston have home ice?! This is going to be at least the 4th year in a row the NCAA champion is going to be from the WCHA, this league dominates! The Gophers are going to be awesome next year with all the experience this large freshmen class is getting, in addition to the greatest american born hockey player prospect joining the team next year, from Madison, Wisconsin no less! I hope everything turns out alright for Tyler Hirsch and he resumes playing. This shows the tremendous pressure a gopher hockey player undergoes with all the glorified history of this team. Go Gophers!!!
March 9, 2005 at 1:41 am #348250I have an FL-18 Pro Pack for icefishing and couldn’t see the logic of having it collect dust on a shelf all summer. I installed the Vexilar summer kit on my trolling motor and a quick mount on the bow of my boat. This way I get to use and learn my Vexilar all year ’round. These units are very durable and are easy to see in bright sunlight. The bottom lock feature works awesome when the bow is bouncing up and down in the waves!
March 9, 2005 at 1:14 am #348245Any bodyshop should be able to remove your decals with a special rubber wheel that is installed in a rotary tool (drill, die grinder, dremel, etc). This rubber wheel is made specifically for removing decals. Go to http://www.eastwoodco.com and go to page 40 of the catalog. I had the dealership decals removed from the plastic bumper of our car this way, couldn’t even tell they were on there and the decals were on the car for more than 3 years.
March 8, 2005 at 9:26 pm #348186I’m in the same boat, love the 3 meg but cringe at bill time! I would like to hear the pros/cons from DSL users.
March 7, 2005 at 9:43 pm #347808Destry, had a great time yesterday, especially when you had the privelege of buying me dinner! I can’t wait until you show me your secrets on catching enormous amounts of sheepies, I’ll have the camera ready! It was nice meeting you, Dean and Steve, looking forward to seeing you guys often this year. Brian, we share the same opinion as you do about fishing deep, sometimes a picture doesn’t tell the correct 1,000 words. It was a good day to be on the river again!
December 31, 2004 at 9:19 pm #334192Socks and underwear! ….and a great time with family and friends!
December 31, 2004 at 9:10 pm #334191I purchased a Frabill Ranger Tri-plex last year and love it! This is the 3 man version and has a ton of room, especially with only two seats in it. You can easily stand up in them. The quality of the Rangers are excellent. The seats are comfortable, the rod holder and can/bait holders are handy, and the black fabric really soaks up the heat. It is very dark inside the shelter even in bright sunlight.
August 13, 2004 at 11:13 pm #317255I was also in the market for an autoloader and ended up purchasing a Winchester Super X2 two years ago. It is an excellent handling gun and has performed flawlessly duck hunting here in Minnesota and in North Dakota. I would recommend you go to the Shooter’s Round-up at Ahlman’s in Morristown, MN. It is being held on August 28th & 29th. All the gun manufacturers will be there and you can try every brand and style of gun you would like, for free or a small ammo charge. I did this before settling on the Winchester, was strongly considering a Benelli or Berretta and personally felt more confident with the Super X2. Ahlman’s phone number is 507-685-4243 or 4244. If you like hunting, and especially guns, you and your family should go to the Shooter’s Roundup. Good luck and good shooting!

January 23, 2004 at 11:46 pm #289883Clam makes an excellent license holder than can be installed on any portable. I bought one last night at FleetFarm for $8.99-durable and very easy to install.
January 17, 2004 at 12:12 am #289050My uncle lives on the Apple River North of Amery and he has been catching some nice northerns on tip-ups the last two weeks, gets his bait at Gen’s.
January 16, 2004 at 10:47 am #288965There are many good lakes to fish for crappies, walleyes and everything else in the area. Try fishing on Madison, Washington, Francis, German, Jefferson, Eagle, or Spring Lake Park in North Mankato. Go to the Bobber Shop for current fishing conditions, bait, lake maps and supplies: http://www.bobbershopfishing.com/ . Welcome to Minnesota and good luck fishing!
January 9, 2004 at 9:04 pm #288025I have only fished the Clam Flowage and the St. Croix River during open water. We have a cabin near Danbury/ Webster and canoe and deer hunt in the area. I would like to get up there ice fishing!
January 9, 2004 at 12:20 am #286827Two weeks ago we fished a small lake about 2 miles West of Gen’s Bait shop, do not know the real name of it, we call it ‘Goulden Pond’, after some friends that live there. Caught some nice northerns and crappies. I am itching to fish Wapogasset Lake, where do I go for the walleyes? What other lakes do you recommend in the area? Is Clear Lake good in the winter?
