I was out yesterday before to downpour and had an absolutely great day on the water. 9 channel cats and 4 flatheads. The photos are of the 2 largest fish. All caught on cut sucker, 1/0 circle hook and 15lb mono.

I fish p3 too but this fella isn’t a regular catfish person. I suppose that’s why he can’t think beyond that one spot. All of my other encounters with real catfish folks have been very pleasant.

Yup. His boat was anchored DIRECTLY over my bait and he was unwilling to move.

Super nice Channel Cats! They have been biting like crazy in my neck of the woods too…

I got this one yesterday morning. I did not measure it, all I know is that it was very fat and very strong!

My 2 best fish acted quite differently from each other. My 2nd largest was well over 60lbs and just ate the bait and casually swam upstream with it. The only reason I noticed I had a bite was because I had an eye on my line.

My pb was a considerably larger 50×36 and hit like my bait had insulted it’s momma. I actually slid about a foot when it took off after seeing the boat.

I will agree that lots of smaller fish hit like a ton of bricks though!

Crappy “witness protection program” cell phone photo of a pretty decent fish! This was a few weeks back.
I was out early(12-6am) this morning and zip… 4 spots, one bite, lots of mayflies and high water! Next week should be better. Happy 4th everyone!

The bullheads from Thompson are just like any other.. they light up in multi colors when spooked and have circle hook shaped pectoral fins, ho hum…

I didn’t know that bullheads were so rare that you would consider a place that you catch them a secret. I would be happy to catch some for you if you need help or are afraid of getting stung!

    Hey Kevin,

Yup, that’s me! I will most likely see you at the bullhead spot! If you ever want to try p3, let me know…

I have no problem answering, it’s the answering truthfully that I sometimes have a problem with when it comes to Flathead spots…

    Thanks Brian!

I fish p3 and am usually using Bullheads for bait this time of year. In the fall I sometimes will go to larger, wild caught Suckers.

My avatar photo is me with my 2nd largest fish from p3.

    Hi all,

This is my first post on this site…

This cat was was 42×28. This has been a pretty good year for me so far with 3 fish about this size including one that I caught right off the dock of my marina!

I have been getting lots of fish lately but the size has come down considerably from 3 weeks ago.
