For me, Strike King Rage Craw and or jig and Rage Chunk. They are prototypes at this point but go on the market at all major dist.’s 11/1/07. The action is somethin special and fish smackem and smackem good.
Had same thing happen to me last year and drained etc for a while and it finally got better. better now than before surgery but on stationary bike alot to keep joint tight and strong. advise same with yours, to wait it out and take it slow till it feels ready to get busy, then get busy.
yammy’s got it goin on, you cant go wrong with em. great runnin, dependable, low maintenance and great resale. dont get any better than that. Sounds like i’ve owned one or two, YEP!
Gotta new tundra crew max and it is great. have had chevys, fords, dodges and this is best yet with room and power to spare and good mileage. rides great and doesnt beat me up, gotta bad back and lumbar support w/smooth ride is helpful. Pull 21 triton and work a big ranch as well that is texas canyon country and gets it done in style. go ahead do it you’ll be glad you did.
I would choose a 7 ft med hvy Falcon Cara with Shimano Curado and use a 3/16 oz jig (color depending on water and day Color) with Strike Kings new Rage Tail Chunk. Day in and day out that chunk gets it done. Super slow or fast retrieve, the action is unbelievable and drives fish crazy. Beats the Paca hands down.
Time after time, fishing with my partner, one of us have fished the variety of latest scented soft plastics like Gulp worm (water based scent) and the other fished the same basic color pattern worm using a cooked in oil based scent, like anise, garlic or crayfish and catch same amount of fish, same size, same structure, same-same. The basic facts are scents work. Yes, they mask human odor and yes, many are appealing to fish. Many basic earth scents will do a great job. Fish do like the taste of heavy salt impregnated baits and it does make a difference, not just fall rate either. Tests show that heavy salt also helps to hide human odors. Basically any of the scents designed around earth or prey species such as shad, crayfish, etc. are good as long as the scent is natural and will mask human odors. I make many of my soft plastics myself and all have some type of added scent in the plastic. They all work much better than non scented. Variety is also good when fishing heavy pressured areas. Think about it, long before Berkley was anise scent. Berkley power worms made the statement “scent works”, now many scents and scented products have hit the market and they have proven to all work about same. Careful with the latest mouse traps, Berkley spent a bundle to create and market Gulp, the soft bait that you can only fish once and for a short period of time then go buy more, only to find out that fisherman expect more consideration, so to salvage their investment, they now give you a bucket of juice to float’em in. “Gitcha some of that in the bottom of your boat”. They make it sound good but that’s SALES. Use your common “sense about scents”.
I fish jigs and slow sub surface soft plastics almost exclusively and have built over 100 custom rods from Loomis blanks. They are great and expensive. For the money, sensitivity, durability and guarantee, Falcon Cara is almost impossible to beat. I got a lot of’em
Strike King tried to get them out for the BMC earlier this year but took the Mold shop too long to get’em perfect. Several Pros using the prototypes now. Another 4 to 6 rage tail designs coming out right behind these, I think they are gonna be great.
The appearance might be similar, but the action is much different. Since this bait is totally soft plastic and the tail is designed to run in the upright position, it provides extreme action and water movement very similar to hard plastic or metal buzz baits. The big advantage is no prop to get hung up in the salad and this bait is not a standard straight-line retrieve. The head of the bait drives from side to side, much like a crank bait and the tail slashes from side to side, throwing a tremendous amount of water. Can slow retrieve and walk it on surface as well. Great noise.
Rage Tail Shad and Toad are anise scented. Chunk and Craw will be combination craw scent and very light anise.
SKL Rage Tail baits will be shipped to all major distributors 11-01. Sizes are 3.5in Craw, 3.75in Toad, 3.5in Shad.
Rage Tail products are to be shipped to all major distributors 11/01, including WalMart, Academy, BassPro Shops, etc.
