walleye bite has been pretty good these past 3-4 weeks for me and my buddies. most of our luck has been with jig an minnow along current seams and wing dams. Recently avg 15 walleye a day with some smallmouth, pike, and white bass in the mix.

Was thinking of driving up late friday night or early Saturday morning. Either way, me and 2 buddies are planning on sleeping in my truck and boat. Is this allowed at the boat launches? I heard Birchdale allows camping but not 100% sure. Any advice would be great

Will be heading up this weekend for the first time fishing the Rainy River in the spring. Most of my experience up there has been fishing for sturgeon during the summer months. What should I be looking for? Should I launch out of Baudette or up more towards Hackett? any help would be greatly appreciated!

How is the bite so far? Have the eyes made their way upriver to the dam yet or still hanging out on wing dams and farther south? Will be getting my boat out of storage the next time I can make the drive up north. Pool 2 will be my first stop

Use Google Maps and look for wingdams that you can access from the shore. Would do this a decent bit in the spring before I can get my boat out on the water. Also, make sure there are spots you can legally access without trespassing. But if you are going at night maybe you can get away with a little more…

Thank you. How deep is the river by Aitken? Anything I need to worry about with a 17.5 ft boat?

How is the river look from Lilydale to St. Paul? Was thinking of trying some shore fishing over Easter weekend when I will be back in town.

Absolutely not. Definitely don’t go to pool 2 looking for big walleyes
