I too have train my dog with the tone. He hears the tone and look back at me for what to do next. With a quick hand juster he on his way. Work real nice for the late season birds. I was out hunting this fall with a friend. He ask why did I not have to use my voice with my dog all day. I just smiled and said he is just that good. Knowing that I was talking with my dog all day with the remote.

I almost lost my pointer in a corn field this year. He was on point for about 8 mm before I bumped the bird looking for him. If I go in to the catails I kept him very close to me.

I hope to start to make my own arrows too. May be that will be a new winter hobby. I first just want to start shooting and to get a feel for what I need and like. Does any one know were I can get a bow stringer on the west side of the metro. I have been to more then a few big box stores and can not find one. Or does any one know how to make one.

My boss asked me if I was doing to get anything done this week here at work. I told him sure I will get something done I was about to show him my to do list for this week.
Hang out on this web site
    Talk with hunting buddies
Make a list of thing to bring to deer camp
Send more time on this site
take a long lunch brakes to GM(this is hard work so need a brake)
    check weahter reports
get other co-workers pumped up about deer hunting
    repeat as needed
I thought I better not show him this list. I just told him I would get my list done before I left

I used #4 steel last year and was not happy with them. To many cripples that the dog had to work to hard to find. This year I changed to #2 and also I got some heavy shot #4.

I too was out in the Marshall area. Just after sun up I saw about 20 birds fly out of a WMA in to a corn field. So we pulled in a waited until 9. We did flush a few hens at that spot. I had one rooster flush while I was giving my dog some water. We had a few more rooster flush but We did not get any. I was tring to let my son shoot his frist bird. Over all we did see a lot of birds but I can not wait for the corn to come down. I wish my son would hit one so dad can start shooting again.
