The 2011 Bass Lake Ice Fishing Contest will be held as scheduled, the lake has over twenty inches of clear safe ice. However, the combination of unseasonably warm weather and excessive salt run-off from the parking area has caused the ice at the only public landing on the lake to deteriorate to the point where the DNR has closed the landing to vehicular traffic. The SYAA Board has in place contingency plans that will be put in effect for this year’s contest. All vehicles will be parked at the Somerset Schools Complex and shuttle buses will be used to transport participants the short 3 mile drive to the contest site. Handicapped parking with permits will be made available at the landing with transportation to the site upon request. The grand prize for this year’s contest is a new Dodge Ram 1500 4×4 pickup truck the total prize package to be given away is worth more than $50,000. We are very grateful for your continued participation and understanding as we strive to make this year’s contest better than ever. Please visit http://www.basslakecontest.com for details.

    HuntNFish58,
After reading your post, I checked out the Quaker Boy website. I see they have a instructional DVD as well as two diaphrams. Would this be something you suggest for first time users?

Again, I would like to thank you guys for helping me with this. I’ve gained a lot of info from here and past posts.

I see that Schaffer is a sponsor here. I thought I would pass on my impressions because you would be interested.

A number of the members suggested to go their Burnsville location. When I went to their website, it did not do anything for me. In fact I was starting the rethink going there.
Now I know I shouldn’t be judging a book by it’s cover. But in todays market a good looking website does mean business. I’ll still go there because you guys recommended them, but I’ll be honest. That’s the only reason I’m going.
That’s a long run for a guy that lives in my neck of the woods.

I hope this is taken constructively as it was meant to be.

This is what I needed guys! Like I said, all my research has lead me the switchback L.D. Not the I will go with it, but at least it gets me going in the right direction!

Musky, I am just a hair over 6’5”. I have found a bunch of reviews for the Mathews switchbacks. Just curious if you have ever shot the Switchback LD? It says the speed isn’t comparable but it’s ideal for a longer draw?
