THere is too a bigfoot…I caught this on my trail cam some time not too long ago in a very strange place.
Here is the approach that works best for me. (learned from a guy who owns a fire extinguisher refilling company).
Keep the 20gal tank at room temperature.
Once it is at temperature bring the tank outside. Turn it upsided down.
connect the 1 lb tank and put maybe 1/16 of a fill. then disconnect.
Take a nail and insert it into the 1 lb valve to release the propane. (wear gloves so it doesn’t freeze you). This activity allows the depressurization of the tank which is a cooling process. Then as the tank empties it gets to nearly minus 100 degrees. Once it is empty. Reconnect it to the inverted 20 gallon tank and fill. You will get a full can. It is quite simple.
Horrible investment! Since I bought mine I’ve had to spend a ton of money repairing my boat due to beating it in tough water. Had to replace bilge and aerator pumps, cracked counsel, equipment bouncing around.Had to figure out how to secure my anchor, etc. my back no longer hurts after a day on the water…only my pocket book.
I grew up…way up north…a case of beer would have been obligatory…Would that cart facilitate?
Leave the boat at home and grab a shotgun to chase grouse…much more relaxing and stuff doesn’t break.
get on the marine band and hail “lundertaker” or “electric spoon” they are both experts up there and they are on the water almost all the time (near Rock Island and fisherman’s shoal). If you can get a hold of them they would give you some tips to put the black lips in the boat.
From Hwy 10 and main street in Coon Rapids it is 95 miles to the Garrison boat landing on Mille Lacs. It is a 3 minute drive to some great bass/walleye fishing on the Rum or Mississippi river. Then you can get out of town easily to the North and hit all the best lakes in the state within a 4.5 hour drive…including Lake of the Woods and Voyageur’s National Park. Choose a place in, Coon Rapids, Blaine, Andover, Burns, Elk River, Zimmerman.
If MinnKota expects me to buy a new one I’m going to complain and demonstrate that the one that came with my motor “harms” me. I have very clear blisters from using it so much….I know that sounds like a threat and a bit overstated but I’d expect them to do a very clear straight up trade for a new control that doesn’t cause blisters. I know the boot store will even exchange boots that don’t fit properly.
Here Here!…The guys over there at Thorne have been great over the years. They get 99.9% of my business. They know most people’s names when they walk in the door. Just because of this post I’m going to swing in this afternoon and say hi to those guys (and gals).
Thanks for the advice…Indeed I’m hoping to get half a day with a guide early in the trip and then I’ll be trying it on my own. I’m looking forward to trying your advice!
I always attempt to be prepared. Broncosguy would prefer to ask forgiveness rather than permission…
One of the most renouned successful breaders in the area is Cashman Kennels out of Elko/New Market. Can’t go wrong. http://www.cashmankennels.com
I’d highly recommend contacting Cashman Kennels in Elko/New Market. They have had some of the best yellows in recent history. The stud dogs they have are all point lab certified and they are mixed American field trial lines and English lines. I had 4 different professional trainers tell me in my search for a lab two years ago to call them and give them my deposit without even looking at any of the puppies because they do such a good job.
These dogs are primarily bred for hunting traits but all have the best probability of superior health and great family pets…they aren’t necessarily cheap like you’d get out of the classified adds. If you’d like ot know more feel free to send me a PM.

I typically hunt the Cottonwood/Marshall area with access to quite a bit of private land right on the Redwood river. My cousin who runs the farm said that they haven’t seen any pheasant at all…Therefore, I made the executive decision to skip Pheasant opener for the first time since 1990. I went up East of Mille Lacs and between my buddy and I and my lab (Frank) we shot 9 grouse, 3 wood cock and 2 wood ducks in about 8 hours of hunting…I’d call that a sucess.
One thing only…a fowl brooding lamp from fleet farm. Keeps the dog at 70 ( give or take). It is safe by design and less than20$. All bird breeders use them, all the time
I don’t know if you were looking for something or not??? I’ve got a garbage can in my garage full of apples that I took off the tree prior to them hitting the ground so that I don’t have to bend over to pick them up. You can have them if you want for Deer hunting or bear baiting….for that matter anyone can take them if they want to come and get them…zip me a PM.
Bronco…a guys stopped by my house the other day…just a block from you and asked if I had seen any kids in the neighborhood at night. He had his gas tank stolen out of his boat. They cut the gas line and took the tank. monkeybutts! He mentioned that he saw some people running around at 4am the Saturday morning.
Nine miles East on 94 is Pittsburg Blue…a top shelf steak house…if you feel like putting on the extra few miles.
Not to mention…If you are a Minnesota citizen it is in Article XIII of the state constitution indicating that it is your right to fish …I’d see a legal case here if they tried to enforce ticketing when licensing isn’t available.
“Sec. 12. Preservation of hunting and fishing. Hunting and fishing and the taking of game and fish are a valued part of our heritage that shall be forever preserved for the people and shall be managed by law and regulation for the public good. [Adopted, November 3, 1998]”
Appetite for Destruction…hands down. 87-89 were some of the most formable years of my life
I spent the coin on the “SmoothMoves” and it is worth every penny. The guys at SmoothMoves did a great job setting me up and making sure I had the right mounting configuration. Very simple product and works great. They were at one time a sponsor on this site (may still be).
I can’t tell you how the fishing is but I can tell you that taking the kids is a blast. This year for opening of fishing I took both of my boys with to Kabetogama for three nights of remote wilderness camping. One was two days shy of 7 and the other is 8.5yrs. They loved it. I didnt fish at all. I just made sure they were having a blast. They both caught several walleyes with mine and my fishing buddies help.
The following product works great. (it is the “deuce” product. Past the following link into your browser and then go to products. Select the “deuce”. Well worth it. It also helps to not have to put as much rope out since it absorbs the shock of the waves.
