    Aargh!

    flame

Getting the line through a wobble bobber is so frustrating.

I agree super frustrating especially when using braid. That being said, I “fixed” mine by taking a needle nose and removing the bottom brass grommet. I found it doesn’t impact anything and improves functionality 10x. Hope this helps.

I believe this is a classic example of what it’s “worth” vs. what someone will pay. These are cool guns that Remington doesn’t make anymore (or at least to the quality that they used too). However, would I pay that for a pump action center fire? No. Considering the accuracy of the action and such.

I guess list it for similar maybe? It just takes ONE nostalgic buyer… I find myself perusing pre bankruptcy Remington listings for similar reasons.

I agree with Grouse. I bet it’s a fuse too. Mike, before you go throwing fuses or parts or whatever at it. Try swapping the fuses on the side that works with the side that doesn’t if you don’t have other tools available. Isolating the burnt fuse should be easy doing this.

Once isolated, figuring out why it blew is another reason all together. Having a slight short in a trailer light or wiring can burn out a fuse in time while it may work on a different towing vehicle.

I can’t honestly think of a single stray dog encounter in almost 30 years of deer, pheasant, waterfowl, or turkey hunting. I see a number of stray/feral cats though.

I think the point here is that there is a clear difference between a stray or stray pack of dogs roaming the countryside harassing big game, and a bird dog that caught wind of a bedded deer while it was looking for a rooster.

I ran into a pack of stray dogs ONCE in all my years of hunting and other recreation. This was snowmobiling near Bemidji and ran across 10 or so dogs in the middle of nowhere. No homes anywhere close and they started chasing me. These dogs would be targets for this rule not some hunting or lap dog.

    This^^^

The law isn’t written for the one off dog that gets off leash or sneaks away upland hunting and chases a deer here or there. The law is written to protect deer herds especially in severe winter years.

Mookie, living down south you may not understand.

Feral dogs in farm country and up north is a real problem. Add in negligent owners with free range dogs and you have a disaster.

There are documented instances of SINGLE dogs killing 20-40 deer a winter in the northland. Read old game warden books you see it all the time. They have a jump on wolves because they can run a deer down kill it on instinct in 4 feet deep snow, leave it to rot and wag home to a full food bowl. The deer have no chance as they are exhausted eating only browse.

Nowadays, it’s common place for packs of completely feral dogs inhabiting abandoned farmsteads and terrorizing local deer herds. The law as it is written is not meant to protect people killing the neighbors dog for sneaking over the property line. That’s illegal and the law can and does sort that out.

The law is written to protect the deer herd (or other animals) from either feral dogs or dogs that have been allowed to decimate a protected resource by neglible owners. It’s really no different than AIS prevention. Defending the dogs that potentially decimate deer herds is in essence defending wanton waste.

Have you tried one of the little flat 4 tester plugs with LEDs? For $5 that will at least tell you if the issue is with the vehicle or trailer.

    X2

Mike, I had something similar happen to me that you are currently experiencing. Turns out there was a slight short on the trailer light that blew my truck fuse. It happened intermittently and was irritating.

Id bet it is that or the need for a jump ground between metal trailer components.

I love my ceymar 10 so far! The price point is a bit stiff but the drag is smooth and it has a little more polish. Haven’t done an inadvertent dunk test on it to see how it performs but so far so good.

I own many of the “old style” siennas in purple in green before they changed the design. They are bullet proof and you can’t beat the price point.

I shyed away from the siennas after the went to the single bearing. However I noticed that they redesigned with a red and black color pattern with 3+1 bearings like the ones I know and love.

Anyone have experience on the “new” red and black siennas? Are they as good as the old ones?

75-47 with 2 mins to go. What a route!

    No kidding!! Go gophers!!

Not to be a poo-pooer at all as I’m a long term homer.

With MI State falling to 0-3 in league play I sense they were overrated. It’s pretty crazy(doesn’t add up in my opinion) how many Big14 teams are in the top 25.

Fingers crossed the gophers can keep it going! It’s be fun to see them rolling in February and March! It’s

Is HT same as blue lube? Mine never get sticky. You do push the spring up and down a couple times right?

Yes, it was blue lube. Glad you have had good results. All of tests ended with similar results on my end. When it comes to my cold freezer they all get “sticky”. Sticky being relative as they still spin just with more effort.

They would all catch Pike and likely *most* walleyes. From my perspective it is what it is at this point.

    Good luck fishing to all!

Did the exact same as you with a couple brands of “ice grease ” and tested in the freezer. They all got stiff, i ended up thinning Beaver dam with reel oil and thats my go to.
Dont pack too full and bring in house to thaw out after trips helps too.

I just saw this but good to see you have the same result and it wasn’t all operator error on my end grin To someone who may search this someday. I tested the frabill Artic grease, beaver dam grease, and ht lube in the last couple days. All filled correctly and they all got about the same amount of sticky in the freezer. So I guess pick one and roll with it.

For now I am going to keep the tip ups semi warm until use and “thaw” them after each trip as you suggest. Next go around I will consider thinning with oil but after doing all of my tip ups I am calling it a day for now. laugh

    Merry Christmas everyone!

Very helpful, thanks! On another note…who skins cats!? Where do these sayings come from?

About 55 years ago my father told me it’s a southern expression about skinning catfish

applause Nicely done! That had me scratching my head.

Haha, thanks Reverend! That’s the kind of report I was hoping to hear back. Glad to hear you dont have ice up problems.

And dont worry, my brain cells have a hard time absorbing anything so if its no good, it might just bounce off! jester

I think I am going to try refiling (not repacking like I did before) and see how it goes. I will just have to resist the urge to use the little grease tube like a battery powered grease gun this time redface

Thanks Alagnak. Beaver dam makes a quality product!

I am still confused by the performance of the grease though. I may be too critical of the whole deal but I am looking for a smooth trip even when it’s cold cold cold.

In hindsight I wish I bought 2 new beaver dams but before I throw the baby out with the bath water I am goin to try to “Frankenstein” the Artic fires.

If anyone has tips for re lubing so you don’t get sticky performance in extrem cold I am all ears.

I think there a lot of ways to skin the cat.

If your going straight salt put some pickling salt in the bottom of a ice cream bucket and use alternating layers of salt and minnows. This dries and preserves at the same time. Your going to want to check them to ensure you don’t dry them too much. They can get very dry this way. Once adequately preserved put them in a zip loc bag with a lightly damp paper towel in the freezer. Pull an hour or two before use.

I like to use a 50/50 mix of borax and pickling salt with a cup of sugar. This seems to keep them more pliable. The key being be sure not to dry them out too much

Re-read the post. Not a contrarian stance after all haha.

You’re in a tough spot. I’d let them join and if they play or not is a whole other topic.

Late to the party here but I’m gonna take a contrarian stance on this one.

If Richard and the other parents pushed their skilled kids into a league that they weren’t ready for and aren’t getting any playing time, and are attempting to now put them into a level that they are more suited for who is it really hurting if they aren’t allowed to play?

It’s those kids in the end not the parents.

By prevented those kids from having an opportunity to play even if they are late to the party it only exacerbates this issue. This is elementary/ middle school sports after all isn’t it??

Heck, even if it was high school sports it should be no different. Kids join and leave teams at all levels constantly. You see it at all levels, high school, college etc.

Sit them on the bench for a while or whatever until they become a part of the team or whatever. Holding it against those kids is a mistake in my opinion. It’s not their fault that their parents are Richards.

Busch Light is 4.0% ABV. So you need to drink 7 1/2 3.2 beers to get the same effect as 6 Busch Lights. roll

To EPG’s point, though, there are bigger fish to fry.

If Busch lite is 4.0% alcohol by volume. Then it’s technically the same alcohol content as it’s 3.2 version.

3.2 is alcohol by WEIGHT and due to the density differences it turns out to be right around 4.0 alcohol by volume.

Which even makes all of this red tape sillier because they don’t even use the same units of measure.

If the gophers played Wisconsin or OSU it would be 52-10 and not in favor of Goldy. Let’s be real here, beat an OSU or Wisconsin and get back to me. It’s a great Cinderella story for those that are into fairytales.

Ha!! Let me just put this hear.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.buckys5thquarter.com/platform/amp/2018/11/25/18110810/wisconsin-football-minnesota-badgers-seniors-reaction-tj-edwards-dcota-dixon

I understand not deserving of the comparison to OSU (most people here haven’t even raised that comparison) but Wisconsin? Common.

Wisconsin’s sole worthwhile win was against a Michigan team that came out flat footed. Now I guess, let’s talk about unquality losses…(hint Wiscy has more).

Minnesota is currently scheming well, trending upwards, and the players are buying in. Those factors make a very tough team to play against. The gophers are playing loose with house money. Penn state is in a bind. Not the other way around.

Go gophers!!! 4-0 great start to me.

It’s unbelievable that people expect championship results without being listed in the top 25 on a regular basis.

Baby steps, now we are winning (who cares by what margin) and people begin to downplay the progress. Saying things like well we ought to have beat them by a wider margin, or the coach is full of BS.

So then what? Fire him? Find a new coach? Look how that’s worked out for the gophers for I dunno, the last fifty years? How’s it’s working out for Nebraska and Purdue right now?

So PJ’s approach is different than your keyboard warrior style, so what?!? Quit watching. Maybe he can recruit, motivate the KIDS, and coach?!?

The gophers need to get into the mix and start winning games, build a reputation, and get into the top 25 consistently before we EVER should be critiquing them for not blowing out big 10, or really any competition for that matter.
