Bought the Hummingbird 859ci HD with down imaging today. Got a heck of a deal shopping locally at Fireice Firearms in Cherokee, IA. Can’t wait to get on the water!

I have it and like the mobile app but it isn’t as accurate as I like. For ice fishing it was tough for me to find old holes without searching for awhile. That is why I am looking at a better unit. When Bluegill fishing the IGLs you can find some fish “highways” swimming through the weeds which stay good for a couple weeks if you can stay in the same spot once you get a hot hole. This year there was a day where I had 6 shacks around me not seeing fish and I limited in an hour. Went back the next day and same thing.

I have narrowed it down to the Lowrance Elite 7 DI and the Humminbird 869hd DI. Which one is better? I want an accurate gps and would like to play around with making my own maps of some lakes I fish.

I bought one in November and have really put it to the test. I absolutely LOVE it! The only time I have problems with the autorange jumping is if I am on the edge of a zoom such as 9-10ft,14-15ft, 19-20ft etc. The only other time I had it happen was in 11ft with 4 ft of thick weeds. Using the manual range always fixes the problem. Manual is quicker for hole hopping also. And the 9* Proview transducer is awesome. Can use gain to increase the angle when searching or decrease when fishing near people or in weeds.

Have you guys ever thought of doing a show on the Iowa Great Lakes in NW Iowa? This year the fishing has been incredible on West Okoboji. Monster Gills and Limits of 9-11″ perch every time if you know what you are doing. The best part is sight fishing The clearest lake in the Midwest. Can sight fish easily in 15ft and can see bottom in 20+. Check out Kabeles Trading Post on Facebook and look at their recent pics.
