Went out Friday morning. Did ok. Brought home 10 nice gills. A little slower Saturday morning, but had both kids that morning. a lot more helping than fishing. Still good times.

Thanks for the report. I’m hoping to get out and give it a try in the near future. If my schedule doesn’t get busy. Enjoy the water!

Wow. That is very nice & helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write all that. Hopefully I will retain it or at least come back to it. My son has a lot more patience than my daughter, but like you mentioned it can be limited. we go out for a couple of hours to fish after work. Like you mentioned it’s a real hit or miss. We’ll see what happens today. Thanks again for all the info.

this is great thanks to all. It is mostly panfish. I have a friend that is going to let me borrow his old flasher with option to buy. As far as the investment into ice fishing I’m uncertain. I enjoy the fishing, but hard for me to spend 300 on a auger, 400 on a shelter, and another 300 on a flasher. I’m sure it makes helps, but spending 1200 seems like a lot. at least for the 1st year. I mostly will be fishing backwater of the Mississippe. we’ve been trying lake Onalaska right now, but looking to explore more. I appreciate all info. I

My weekend plans got changed so I wasn’t able to go, but my dad went on 7 yesterday evening. He did ok with the sunnies. good size and fair action. Brought enough home for a 2 person meal.

What depth were you working in. I really want to give the crappies a try. I took my 2 4 years old out last week and nailed the sunnies on the wingdamns. Look for inside corner windgdamns with slower current. That worked for us.

Any info on finding crappies on the river would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

We gave it try this weekend. It brought back some good memories. My father and I didn’t set anything on fire. Only 1 sauger & 1 real nice small mouth. with the small boat he bought we thought we would give it a try. I’ll probably do more of it, but with trolling motors today I can see how casting has it’s benefits. Thanks for the info. If I get into I’ll let you know.

Does anyone troll wingdamns anymore. We use to do this when I was a kid. 14ft v-hull w/ a 25hp. Fun times
