My nephew fished Ashtabula yesterday and caught 14 walleyes between 14-20 inches and 1 24incher and a 30 incher. Not sure devils lake would be better than that! Also caught a nice mess of perch.

I fish smallmouth in the gin clear water of the Iowa great lakes and have found greatly increased bites using fluorocarbon line. The lines toughness in the rocky and snaggy structure unsurpassed! I use a Revo casting reel on a Fenwick Techna 7′ medium fast rod. Loaded with a full spool of 10# Berkley professional Grade fluoro!I have caught thousands of smallies on this set up without a single break off!Highly recommended set up!!!!!!

November 23, 2011 at 10:04 pm #115527I switched from 777 to Blackhorn 209. What a nice surprise! I love it! Non fouling! Non corrosive! No messy breech plug grease! Easy clean-up with regular solvents! No more bore cleaning between shots! I recently shot a 5 shot silver dollar sized group @ 100 yards! With my 15-20th shot since the last cleaning! This is the greatest thing for muzzle loaders in decades! Highly recomended!
November 15, 2011 at 10:07 pm #114873.243 hands down! I have 4 of these in different configurations and love them all. Great little gun that will do it all! My favorite is a Savage American Classic in .243. It has a detachable magazine and accutrigger that I’ve shot pronghorn out to 520 yards and coyotes out to over 400 yards. Very accurate! No recoil! Very fun to shoot!
November 14, 2011 at 2:51 am #114634Did you split the pelvis and leave it open between the time ya shot it till they got it? Was there any other deer stacked on top of yours? or anything , coats, bags ect that woulda kept the hinds from cooling quickly? These are some of the things that cause the thicker portions to spoil. Did you find the deer right after ya shot it? Leaving them overnight to “stiffen up” can also be a reason the hinds spoiled. Quick cool down is important!!!!

By the way a 10hp John Deere will wind up 45 ft of a 50ft garden hose before it will kill the motor. No damage to the machine though! LOL!
Yeah. An 8 HP Snapper will totally suck up a 4 foot door mat that cost $100
I mean, so I’ve heard. It didn’t happen to me, obviously. I’d never be that stupid, no way, I’d remember to move the the damn door mat first, okay, so stop freaking bringing it up, would you?

My bro hunted the Marshall area and they got their limit on Saturday for 3 guys on private land by 11:30. They walked the same land on Sunday and didn’t see much.
Shot them all?
October 17, 2011 at 9:08 pm #1002061I checked out most of them last year before I bought John Deere! I wanted something built like a tank. John Deere is the only one I seen that has a cast iron gear box and ball bearings on the auger shafts. I liked the electric chute control and heated handwarmers. I bought the 10 hp w/the 28″chute. By the way a 10hp John Deere will wind up 45 ft of a 50ft garden hose before it will kill the motor. No damage to the machine though! LOL!

September 20, 2011 at 8:23 pm #110502I see most of ya don’t have much good to say about the mesh floor trailers. I have both. Each have their good qualities. I always use the mesh trailer in the winter because when it snows its easy to just broom the trailer-atv and the snow falls through the mesh and doesn’t build up into ice. As you drive your atv on its not near as slippery either. Even while trailering you atv doesn’t seem to slip and slide around as much either. As far as corrosion, I don’t see that much after 3 years. But I’m pretty picky about maintaining my stuff. When out mudding ect it’s soo easy to take the trailer with atv atatched to the carwash and rinse both off. The mud just washes
through the screen too! Salt is the enemy on all trailers ,its not quite as visible with wood beds. Kinda outa sight outa mind thing.Just my 2 cents.September 16, 2011 at 12:56 am #110230Quote:
Well with season right around the corner I have been flinging arrows like no tomorrow. Well my number one goal for this year isn’t to get a big buck. I made it my number one goal to get a deer this year with traditional archery gear kind of in memory of a friend/family member that passed away this year. So I thought I would share what I’m bringing in the woods with me come opening day. Everything in the photos is homemade except for the broad-head.
String was made for me by a good friend of mine, the arrows are ceder arrows with custom painted crest made by my friend that passed away, and the bow itself is a homemade long bow that one of my other good friends made.
I can’t wait for season to get here, and head into the woods with stuff in hand.
Way too cool! I need friends like you do!
September 16, 2011 at 12:44 am #995168I won a tournament a few years ago fishing a purple worm in and off the timber on the north side point on the west bay.Looked bassy to me!
September 11, 2011 at 9:40 pm #109874Lay the hide out flat remove as much fat, meat left on the hide. Rub a generous amount of salt into every inch of the hide. Fold hide raw side to raw side and keep cool as possible. Don’t get wet so the salt washes off. It’ll last a long time without slipping.
September 10, 2011 at 1:56 pm #109834Thats I figured too. Now if everybody will leave him alone another year!
August 24, 2011 at 7:25 pm #990644After cutting it off the cob I blanch it by roasting it in the oven with liberal amounts of half and half and real butter. I then cool it and scoop it into zip-loc bags pulling all the air out and freezing. Its awesome!

I usually use 3 1/2 inch 12 guage 5’s… (sometimes lead, sometimes Hevi-shot) What are your preferences?
Do you spend the extra $$ and use Hevi shot (or equivalent)I tested alot of different loads in my turkey gun some shoot patterns right some left. Find a load that shoots good and buy a bunch of them. Only takes 1 shot per year!
Anyone use this product?
